Have to be a bit clearer about the situation since most of us on the forums don't play the Xbox One or Playstation 4 version of the game. However, a lot of the problems on the consoles could be due to the forced deadline of the game. STO had to be available on the consoles before the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek. Having a forced deadline is why the PC version of STO had so many problems back in February 2010.

XBox One is apparently down with apologies but no explanation. I assume that's what 'X1' means. I haven't any idea why that would involve explaining something to a fleet, then accusations of lying followed by claims of being ignored. OP was involved in an XBox thread back in October.

OP: serious theory-of-mind problems here. You know what your topic really is, but we don't. Since most of us have lost our long-distance mind-reading powers since being rocketed here from the doomed planet Klystron as infants, you'll have to be explicit in your complaints in order for us to understand.

Ask microsoft why they decided not to let Cryptic run the sale they planned.

    This exactly.

OP, please do your utmost to find out the facts before issuing apparent rage at Cryptic.

Yeah a lot of fleet was upset and I figured those folks could have better explained the situation to that particular console as a whole if it was Microsoft they could have mentioned it and I think the general population would have just let it ride. When people are left in the dark it does them or the business no good. That causes a player base to diminish, I like the game, and don't want that to happen. Losing rapport is a bad thing. I figured I would be blunt as it often draws their attention. Again tc and Happy New Year.

Being blunt in the forums, Reddit, Facebook or whatever platform will never work. Neither will blackmail, threats, 'I quit' posts etc. As lots have speculated, they believe MS has caused this issue. Bear in mind that the good folks at Cryptic deserve their Christmas break, as do all the other working folks. Feel sorry for the poor person(s) that had to go into the office to ensure the servers don't go offline.

Have patience. Cryptic has a good history of making up for snaffoo's, whether it be their own or someone related to the company and never ever put bad lauguage in a post, abbreviated or not!

What exactly do you want Cryptic to do? If it is Microsoft holding things up do you want them to ruin their standing with that company, making everything harder in the future, by going, "yeah Microsoft is being difficult and won't let us do what we want. Sorry they're making us give you the shaft right now but we'll try to fix it when we can." That's a sure fire way to cause your platforms playerbase to drop real quick when Microsoft decides they don't want to deal with a company that publicly bashes them.

Saying what they did means they don't have to TRIBBLE off the company letting you play the game on their console AND shows that they are doing what they can in the confines of what they're allowed to do at the moment. Take a chill pill, let the holiday pass, and then let Cryptic do what they can to make things right. You're complaining over a sale in a video game that's made up of pixels that have no actual worth or value outside of what's arbitrarily assigned to them. Remember to keep the context of what you're getting upset over in mind because complaining about a virtual sale should be the least of your worries as a human being.

wow, what a bunch of apologists you'all are. so let me get this straight cryptic advertised a sale on this login splash page on the 20th,didnt check with m$ to see if they could do that during a sale week that m$ was promoting, probabally costing money to be a part of. said hold up xbox guys we didn't forget you, said nothing as of yet? except your not forgotten and that's ok?

um you guys might be a part of the problem if you let this type of garbage to pass for so long.have they been doing this type of thing along time?

as well I highly doubt that the op intended for you pc users to understand his post nor does he care if you do understand it or not.i understood it, I betcha cryptic understands it amd anybody screwedover this cristmas understands it as well.

p.s. only a noob mmo closes down at Christmas.not everybody is Christian, the game isn't played in catholic countries only.should I assume that the jews and muslims and buddasts take Christmas off as well? none of the jp mmos ive played in the past close at Christmas. last I checked wow didn't take Christmas off either.

It has to be a Microsoft issue.

There is simply no gain for Cryptic to run sales on only 2 of the 3 platform the game is available on. There is no upside for them at all.. none. Clearly it was Microsoft that was the hurdle for whatever reason.

I don't claim to know exactly what happened, because I don't. But I can tell you that it doesn't make any sense to focus your anger at Cryptic on this one. These sales at the end of the year generate a lot of sales for them. People know they happen every year, people wait for them and pounce on deals during this time of year. There is no reason for Cryptic to intentionally take a bite out of 1/3 of their revenue stream.

You have a right to be angry, just be sure you're focusing it in the right direction.

No one is saying STO the game was closed Christmas. But almost all of the WORKERS / STAFF / PEOPLE WHO DOES THE STUFFS got the day off. That's just how we roll here in the USA. America, F' Yeah! ;)

MMOs operated from countries where Christmas is a work holiday pretty much all go silent over the holiday. People get paid time and a half on top of the pay they automatically get for the holiday here in the United States. Even WoW has posted exactly one news item since Friday, and no hotfixes since the 19th.

Obviously, Cryptic needs to work harder to get things ironed-out with Microsoft, since this is the second time that a sale has been postponed for them, and that's at least somewhat on them for not learning the first time. They will probably get you a sale at a later date, and hopefully learn their lesson this time.

Oh, and apologist is just diet TRIBBLE. Most people on the internet see through this attempt to evade Godwin's Law by watering it down.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

For several years actually. They will not give an explanation, to anyone. As for transparency, it would be easier to see your hand in front of your face in a sealed room with no lights at all.

p.s. I wonder why I didnt get a a T6 gold plated Marauder. I have unwavering support. right?

What does X1 (Comcast's new(ish) cable platform) have to do with STO? Or did you mean the XB1?

ps.s in case you were wondering. in some places in the world, the laws on advertising and advertising at Christmas are very strict.you are not allowed to advertise things that wont be there on the day that you advertise them.virtual goods or real intrinsic items.both are considered the same .now I don't want you'all to construe lawsuit or anything.what comeon I'm just not going to give them money.

but for some of you to say its virtual,is the same as saying its free its ok.your the problem not the solution

    merry Christmas.

Then call them on it. File a lawsuit. Stop acting like a 5 year old stomping his feet and throwing a temper tantrum because mommy didn't get you a chocolate bar at the checkout line. That worn out, "well it's against the law so they better do something to fix this! I'm just saying it, not meaning anything by it" has been thrown around to try and pull weight for arguments and then nothing ever comes of it. If you really feel like they've broken a law in your country then actually file the lawsuit because as it stands all you're doing is throwing a tantrum over pixels. If you're that worked up over a sale in a video game then please file the lawsuit.

I also didn't say it was free. I said it was virtual and had no value other than what is arbitrarily placed on it. That doesn't make it free, that means it's worth as much as the company wants to charge and people are willing to pay. Maybe next time actually read and understand what I wrote instead of skimming and looking like a fool.

Either grow up and act like an adult or go away.

    A few points -

    (i) There will be a valid reason for the issue, for example the manner in which purchases differ across the platforms - it may be that on PC and PS4 the purchase is made direct with Cryptic/PWE but on XB1 the requirement is for the microsoft store app to be involved in some way and implementing a Cryptic instigated sale whilst a platform unique promo is ongoing may cause errors at checkout which "break" the system or require a "double discount" which would have to be applied to each item rather than in a generic manner.

(ii) If an issue such as this happens and Cryptic release a statement on Twitter/Facebook/Arc etc such as the currently displayed "we have not forgotten you" missive displayed on the news feed, then this means just that - most PC users will agree that if a major issue occurs then Cryptic are usually reasonably generous in making amends.

(iii) Before even going near lawsuits etc you should refer to the Terms and Conditions you agreed to when you installed the game, even if you did not read those Terms then you have agreed to them either by checking a box, clicking a button or continuing with the download. Most Terms and Conditions state that "the application" is subject to the laws of "country x" and that by continuing with the "next step" you agree to be bound by those Terms exclusively.

Maybe I should be less blunt, but if this thread is an example of how the OP would communicate an answer to their fleet, I don't think Cryptic would want the OP doing any such thing.

I'm sorry. A rage topic, without any specific problem or constructivity doesn't help anything. If you have a problem with the staff or the game, contact the support if need be. Locking this.
