Just saw a snowball fight alert and went to go stand near them to check and they weren't animated.
I always hated it but now miss it.
Yes, they added it back in with the last patch.

Aye, it's back. HOWEVER, it tends to end very quickly, as players take very little time to kill all the snowmen, meaning it'll still say "snowball fight" usually for several minutes after the event has actually concluded.
The fish punching has this event end lag as well. Everybody's just walking around with no light spots on the ice to punch fish and then all of a sudden they play the mission completed music, but then it still has 30 seconds or more to wind down before it ends.
I can't tell if I ever actually get anything from it. ( other than fish punching fun )
I got several winter item fragments that can be exchanged at 5 fragments for one ornament from the vendor.
check your inventory they might be in there.
although the ice fishing event is fun I thought the reward payout was not much in comparison to the amount of time the event lasted, got more from the pie eating contest that only lasts a few minutes.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

It seems to me that there is no end reward for that event, just the occassional holiday currency item droping together with a fish or the beat. No idea if that is intended.

IIRC I got 4 random trinkets last time I finished it.
My only real complaint about the snowball fight is that I tend to make the mistake of logging on to do Fastest Game On Ice for my vouchers around the same time the event happens to be going on. It can be a bit distracting getting pelted by snowballs as you're trying to navigate around the curves on that track. LOL!
You DO NOT get pelted by snowballs from them if you are doing the race UNLESS you have no opponent.

Maybe you're right about that. For some reason this year, I've had very few races where I've had an opponent (across multiple characters), so I've never paid attention to the when or why the snowmen decide to attack me. Lately, if I show up and the snowball fight is going on, I just go kill me some snowmen then race afterwards.

I got 25 items total, including the 3 from fragments earned, for one run where took down 3 Kos'Karrii. Not terrible in total, but a little on the low side for the 15 minute duration. That's about 1.67 items per minute.
If you're lucky on instance hopping, you can probably get 10 for a full snowball fight and 4 for the Overlord part of another during that even'ts cycle and come away with 14 in what will probably be 7 minutes or so of the total event time. That's probably the best payout per minute rate for that event at roughly 2 per minute.
Tide of Ice, if there are between 1 and 4 of you there, will pay out around 24 for 10 minutes of actual fighting, but probably another minute or so of waiting around, so also roughly 2 per minute.
I can't tell you what a good Cones of Conduct pays out, because it's rare to even see one that people are participating in. I found one where people were active during the first phase, and joined it, but not until the Overlord had popped up, and we managed to defeat him with 1% of the village intact, the barest win, for 14 pieces, which took us 14 minutes, so 1 piece per minute, but with room for better if you save more of the village.
Winter Invasion queue, with the Yeti defeated, and all Gingerbread people rescued, and a mysterious box that pays out a few items will get you around 12-14 pieces, as well, and probably takes 5 minutes on the outside, giving a 2.4-2.8 per minute rate.
Pie Eating is the only thing that I haven't calculated this year, since I haven't bothered, but it does probably pay out even better than most, if not all, of the others, if memory serves.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.
Playing 'Cones of Conduct'? I thought I was playing Starcraft against the Zerg.

Nah they need to have the snowmen use the super snowball from champions on his toon only.
Only when running his races, like in the good old days.

Ran the race last night and my toon got pelted the entire lap by snowmen (no npc opponent). Jerk snowmen.
Happy times.
