Bizarre and Frustrating Issues

I have recently begun to have two issues in game that are frustrating me a great deal.
First, STO will not recognize when I press CTRL+1, CTRL+2, and CTRL+3. Any other combination of CTRL+number works, just not 1, 2 or 3. Shift+1, 2, 3 works, as does ALT+1, 2, 3 . . . the only issue is CTRL. I have no idea why. CTRL+Numpad 1, 2, 3 works, the only issue is the line of numbers above the Q, W, E on the keyboard. This is regardless of whether I use my keyboard or my Naga mouse as an input device. I have developed a workaround where my naga uses the numpad numbers for input, but this is imperfect as is means I need a special profile just for STO, which is silly, imo.
The second issue that I've had recently is that on one of my characters, a Reman Sci, my away team won't sprint. This is a small problem in close quarters, but in situations like Nimbus or New Romulus, it's practically game breaking. If I sprint, the team gets so far behind they get killed by encounters that are miles behind me and I can't help, or I'm having to wait for them to catch up before I can start encounters of my own. The only choice I seem to have is never to sprint when I'm running around, which is annoying. Seeing as it's just this one captain, I'm wondering if there's a setting somewhere that I've screwed up, but I can't find one.
Any thoughts? Resolving these issues would make my life a lot easier.
