Science ships and Sensor Analysis

Ok so I know that Science ships get Sensor Analysis, but I'm wondering why the Science Command Battlecruiser doesn't get it? Doesn't the fact that it is a Science ship mean that it should get Sensor Analysis?

cause its a battlecrusier not a science vessel.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

It's not a true science ship, it's a cruiser with a science slant to it.

A true full science ship has a Commander sci seat, secondary deflector, subsystem targeting and sensor analysis.

Thank you for clarifying that. I was wondering why, but you both made good points, thank you.

Sci Odyssey has SA, but that's a cruiser and not a battlecruiser, and then there's its KDF battlecruiser t6 bortasq counterpart that iirc has SA too. There may be other exceptions just don't recall off the top of my head.

The Tal'shiar adapted destroyer and cruiser both have SA, too for some reason. It's mostly a science ship gimmick, but they do arbitrarily put it on some non-sci ships. I guess if it feels thematically appropriate.

Yeah there's some exceptions like with anything but the general rule for a full sci vessel is that it has access to cmdr sci boff powers and is kitted with a 2nd def, SA, SST.

There's a lot of stuff you can do science in due to universal seats and extra sci console slots but that doesn't make something a science vessel in itself.

Yeah the DEV's have some loose rules they use most of the time but they didn't always. Due to this the science Oddyssey and Bortasqu have SA as well as the Tal Shiar ships. But otherwsie only full science ships have it. Not even science carriers get it.

those last two things you listed are superfluous, because in order to have a secondary deflector, a ship needs both SST and SA

so you could have just said 'A true full science ship has a Commander sci seat and secondary deflector' and saved yourself some typing

While you could argue about it being a true carrier, the Paradox Dreadnought has it, actually.
The Aeon fighter and its KDF counterpart, as well as the Tal'Kyr, also have it.

Paradox is a science dreadnought, which is the exact same class as the Annorax - sci ships with an extra weapon slot, dhc, flight deck, extra hull, but somewhat lower turn rate.

Carriers have 2 flight decks. Escort carriers still have one, but do have the ship masteries that help lower CD on pets, making them closer to actual carriers. Paradox, Annorax, and a number of other ships (Vestas) do not have any pet related ship masteries, and instead are fully science oriented.

Carriers are further broken down by primary orientation, science (ex. T'Laru, Atrox), tactical (Vonph, JHDC, Narcine), engineering (Dyson carrier).

Except for boss ships ;) but yeah, I think it shouldn't stack but give the benefits right away, so it becomes much more useful!

Maybe make a Captain Trait that makes it passive and instantly gives 1/2 the value of the full stacks? Give people an option.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

Slightly off-topic, but I preferred SA when it was passive. I often forget to activate it - though to be honest, it rarely matters anyway since everything (NPCS) has sufferred death by powercreep long before SA gains a noticable benefit.

When it was passive, you still had to build it up. It wasn't an instantaneous debuff. Not to mention if you shifted target there was a very strong chance your debuff stack would go away.

I highly prefer the current version. You could target something, put SA on it, select something else, do something else, all while the debuff stacks. I.e. target the Borg Tac Cube or Gateway with SA while you're finishing off the spheres.
