Problem is the Overlord would be defeated in seconds. When in a game battle, one does not want it to be as long as a Mike Tyson boxing match from the mid 1990's.
I'm incredibly sad as this means my collection of Seasonal event accolades is now "ruined"

@alexraptorr dont feel bad heh.. theres a lot of accolades that are no longer available *COUGH Nowinscenario
Sure, but this is the first time "ever" that they have completely removed an event activity.

You can still build sand castles during the Summer Event, and the reward is actually better than when it was a FE. You just need to go see the Archaeologist to do it.
And I like the Fishing game better than the Snowball fight. Like was said, if you didn't want to get pelted with snowballs, you had to stand around in the gazebo until it was over. And if you were doing Fastest Game on Ice, you weren't always 'safe' from snowballs.
I'll agree with those saying to make it a queued event. That way most people would be happy.
Same here, though I am fine either way. A queued event would sorta not make it as good, since being transferred to a different map kinda takes away things...hard to explain it in words. Since they brought it back, now...my only request is make the Overlord stronger, since some of those fights lasted like 10 or 15 seconds, I remember.
Have not checked yet but thrilled it might have been fixed..SO happy as well... I like snowball fight soooo much better than boring fishing and I myself can kill all the Snowmen rather than wait for gated times like in fishing.
according to todays patch notes, "◦Added the Snowball Fight back into the event rotation." , happy now?.
I'm in the game right now, in Winter wonderland and look; no Snowball fight in the schedule lineup. The Hell Cryptic!? did you just lie to use on your patch notes?
Snowball fight is back in. Thank you. It just doesn't repeat very often. Tbh, I wouldn't mind if the freqency of tides ice and fishing were decreased while the freqency of the snowball fight was increased.

Yeah your right, just saw it in the line up finally; definitely agree with you on the frequency on though.

Well, your mileage may vary on that. Someone else might like the other events better. Having them all on once per rotation is most fair.
If you don't believe me warpangel, go ask whether or not people like tides of ice in winter wonder land zone chat. I gurantee you that 3/4 of the people you ask will say they won't like it.
Regarding the snowball fight, as soon as people realized it was back, it generated a lot of buzz in zone chat last night from 8-9 eastern. People started to call out how many snowmen remained in each zone, people were rushing towards the snowboss to take it down, etc. Tides of ice doesn't generate this kind of excitement and zone-wide cooperation.
Another measure of the lack of interest in tides of ice is the queue for the winter invasion. Watch the queue closely when tides of ice starts up. You'll see that when you queue up for invasion it will take 30 seconds to a min to pop on average. Then compare that average to how often it pops during the snowball fight.

you mean like this?
I loved making bets with my mates on how long in the first round the poor sap would survive til tyson destroyed them lol

I checked the queues last night, and it wasn't very different in number of people playing Winter Invasion during any of the events, honestly. Perhaps because it was newly-returned the night before, there may have been some difference then. I certainly wouldn't go by what is said in zone chat, especially about people calling out how many snowmen are already down in a zone, except as a clue to avoid that instance, since just showing up for the Overlord fight is an excellent way to get very little reward from the event.
Tide of Ice doesn't need zone-wide buzz. In fact, it and Snowball Fight are best done (in terms of how well-rewarded you'll be) in very low-population instances, since your contribution to the total snowmen killed is the deciding factor in how many commodities you receive in both of them. The best number of players for each is probably 2, so long as they both have Winter weapons, and maybe some of the devices, too. Tide actually pays better for time invested this way, with around 25 commodities for 10 minutes work, where you'd be lucky to get that much in 15 minutes, and a couple of instance hops, in Snowball Fight.
I like both for their own merits, and think that both should stay as they are.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.
But it is too fast to really enjoy. The last "fight" I was involved in finished and still had 10 mins left on the timer. I am sure that is the same (or very close) on most other runs. End up waiting, waiting, waiting for the next event.
It doesn't even FEEL like there is an instance wide snowball fight going on, any more.
Maybe upping the number to 200 snowmen destroyed before the Overlord spawns will make it feel more like one is participating in a snowball fight with everyone in WW. I don't think there is any reason to make the Overlord any stronger against player's weapons....but Overlord definitely needs some resist against that Shaved Ice Gateway thing.

That's the idea of a snowball fight. if you've ever been involved in one, you would know that it always starts with someone being ambushed.
Maybe they should have random spawning snowmen attacking perpetually, that way all players will be kept on their toes

When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
I'm only happy when it rains, I'm only happy when it's complicated...

I haven't looked for it as I am not in the game yet today.
