Where are the text on the game?

havenswordhavensword Member Posts: 2 Arc User
Since this last update, the game lost all text.
On the Character select list and in game (GUI, Options, etc). All text are gone.
There is a way to fix this?

Here's a comprehensive list of fixes for those with no-text problems.

    ____

In the options menu of the launcher, check the 'Safe Mode' option, press 'Save', and Engage. If you can see text after the game loads, you're all set. Exit the game and load the game up normally.

    ____

    Failing that, do the following:
    • Go to your "Star Trek Online\Live\Localdata" folder and open Gameprefs.Pref (in Notepad, Wordpad, or other word processor.)
    • Find the line:
      PrefEntry GfxSettings.DeviceType Direct3D9

    • Edit the line so it now reads:
      PrefEntry GfxSettings.DeviceType

    ____

If this also doesn't work, then in your launcher, under the Command Line option, type in:
    -d3d11enable 1

into the box. Remember to hit the save button.

    ____

If all of the above fails to work, then your last option is to run the game in DX9. However, you won't get the spiffy new lighting improvements.

      PrefEntry GfxSettings.DeviceType Direct3D11

    • On your launcher, go to Options and under the Command Line option, type
      -d3d9enable 1

into the box. Remember to hit the save button.

I hope this fixes your no-text problems. Good luck!

Same with me as well. I've tried bringing up settings but changing anything is tricky what with no text. It is literally all gone, loading screen text and everything

Found a thread with a couple of workarounds here http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/startrekonline/#/discussion/1223875/no-text-appears-on-any-ingame-button-for-artifacts-launch

Quick summary, run the game in safe mode, log out then log back in with normal mode and it should be fine (Although I had to re-set the graphics as it bumped me down to 900X600

In the "display" options menu try using "DX11 yourvidcardname" or "auto" for the graphics card setting. Seems if your in DX9 mode your fonts vanish. You might have to load game in safe mode to find the setting.

A workaround for this is to start the game in safe mode once. It should reset your graphics and clear it up. You can find it in the options in the STO launcher.

The last option worked for me: "*] On your launcher, go to Options and under the Command Line option, type
    -d3d9enable 1

into the box. Remember to hit the save button."
    Thank you

    I have this issue also.

When I try to change the file 'Gameprefs.Pref' I am denied by permissions. I didn't want to try and override this incase something serious happened (gulp!).
The other fixes did not work.

    ARRRRRRGHHHH!!

    Please help, crypticspartan!
