Heavy destroyer alternatives?

I like the concept of the heavy destroyer class vessel (manticore/chimera), being a sort of hybrid between escorts and cruisers, but they're limited to 1000 day subscribers or lifetime subscription players.

Are there any ships that I may not have come across that are similar in design (not visually, but in the sense that they're bigger than escorts but smaller than cruisers)?

I get the sense that destroyers and battlecrusiers are very close. They are both hybrid escort/cruiser. For example the Temporal battlecruiser has a turn rate of 10, its tactically focused. But the starship mastery is cruiserish rather than dmg dealer.
    Compare those ships.

well destroyers are fairly rare but thats the list. most are kdf. you may also like a few of the heavier escort or lighter battle cruisers.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

The heavy destroyer class vessels (manticore/chimera) rock but I find myself flying the Tier 6 Alita-class Heavy Escort Carrier most of the time. The fleet version is even better. I like it for the seating, works for tac, sci and eng toons really well.
    Positive thoughts.

For the Klingons, the Peghqu and Duvqu are nice ships, very hard hitting, but they're also a bit light in the defensive arena. Their best attribute is their high-maneuverability compared to a heavy battlecruiser or dreadnought. They won't turn on a dime like a Bird of Prey, but they'll turn much quicker than a battlecruiser like the Vor'cha will. The Fleet K'tinga retrofit is an exception to this however as its turn rate with a few bonuses comes close to the destroyers. They're butt-ugly though...obviously...personal opinion. The Federation model is a much nicer looking ship.

A legitimate alternative to these ships on the Klingon side: Fleet K'tinga Retrofit and all models of the T6 Pilot Raptor. The Pilot Raptors are fully capable of attaining 60k-70k hull.

The Ferengi Nandi is a good Destroyer ship, if you got it.

The Dyson Science Destroyers also have a strong 'mode change' feature built in. They're more escort/science though.

Just so you know, the Heavy Chimera ability to transform between Tactical and Regenerative Mode is broken. The console doesn't have the Regenerative option available on the ship's wheel.

Other than that, I like the Chimera, but I wanted to warn anyone who was looking at that being the deciding factor for the LTS. It's not working as it should right now on either T5 or T6 variants.

    Hope they fix it.

As someone who primarily flew escorts but prefers battlecruisers, I had to echo this sentiment. The Paladin (T6 Temporal Battlecruiser) is easily the most nimble cruiser I've ever flown, and honestly feels a lot like flying a very heavy escort. It does have some cruiser hallmarks, of course; primarily Engineer seating, and cruiser commands. Also, I've also flown it with molecular redistribution in offensive mode (which grants a speed and turn rate buff) exclusively, which may color my opinion. Still, it's the most fun I've had flying... anything, I think, and worth serious consideration.

i am much like ya i prefer having a solid defense while also having a solid offense which makes battlecruisers a solid choice for me as well :) and i might have mained a fleet Paladin had i not have good fortune in getting a T6 Constitution which i love dancing around opponents in.

The Arbiter on PC (not yet on console) is a nimble cruiser with 5 fore weapons. Its Emergency Weapon Cycle trait works well with 2 x emergency power to weapons and you can seat Lt. Commander science for grav well 1.

Those heavy destroyers are my go-to more often than not, and I don't even have the Fleet versions unlocked. My only real complaint is that the Fed version doesn't have a cloak. At this point in the game, there is really no reason for it not at least having a basic, non-battle cloak.
