im loocking to make my ship go extremly fast both in combat and out of combat any one got a list of items i can get that are eazy for a none $$$ user to make my ship go fast?
Firstly, you want an escort type ship as they're more agile with just their base stats; cruisers are lumbering in comparison (with Science ships in between). Escorts are ships like the Akira, Defiant, Prometheus, Phantom and etc. Cruisers are things like the Galaxy, Sovereign and Odyssey classes.
The next thing you'll want to do is rebalance your ship's power levels to engines (the third option from the left). Note however that energy will be taken away from your weapons, so energy weapons wont hit your enemies as hard. But you will move faster.
In terms of equipment, you have a range of options:
The 8472 Counter Command Reputation Set have a range of boosts to engine power and etc - this will help you in-battle but not transiting between star systems in sector space;
The Assimilated Impulse Engine (or, to a lesser extent, the MACO Impulse Engine) - both from the Omega Reputation System - will boost your sector speed times (to Warp 14 and 13 respectively) and they're solid engines in battle, but they shine in sector space.
Any high quality Hyper Impulse Engine of the highest tier you have available - if you have the engine power to support it (particularly 75+).
Now, you can achieve all of those things without spending a dollar on Zen. However, you can also spend ages grinding refined Dilithium, converting it to Zen on the in-game dilithium exchange, and use Zen to purchase a Pilot Escort ship. Then you'll truly be agile and fast. If you feel the need for speed, that's the ship that you want .
Just be aware that the game's meta doesnt really benefit speed and agility over heavy firepower.
Actually..I use a Wells with the Omega set and Engines. Coupled (Max power to Aux and Engines) with Emergency power to engines and Aux to Damp I cruise alone easily 160-180 impulse. Lets me Chase all but Pilot escorts..
Stock up on Duetarium Surplus Tanks +350% Flight speed and Turn rate for 8 seconds and +15% Defense). They are a Consumable gained from running a mission, (YOu speak to a Ferengi who is a Duetarium dealer and have to fight off cardassians trying to destroy his holding tanks.) When I get in game later I'll find it. and let you know. They give a direct speed boost. Down side is they only stack to 5. And sense they are a consumable they work on any ship.
The Mission is Defense Contract, Fly to the Alhena System at bottom of Beta Quadrant map, Short hop from K-7, Mission is Repeatable Daily. 20 hr cd.
I run an an escort and maxing speed and defense can be really fun. Depending on weapon type i can reccomend some options that work with your build. Also when you hit 50 and start gaining spec points i would reccomend the pilot tree as primary specilization. Also playing at full throttle as i do, the pilot spec trait pedal to the metal gives +20% damage when flying at full impulse. Highly recommended if speed is key.

Speed kills :P... Sadly its totally not necessary but Hilarious when you can do 180+ impulse all the time against NPCs...
@odinforever20000 Well i did it because i run the phantom with reciprocity and wanted to max that ability and its pretty satisfying to dodge most artacks because my defensive rating sits around 150%. Even parked im at 42% so everything about my build is based on speed.

@birzark
Right right..Its apart of your build specifically...Are you playing advanced any missions on advanced or Elite? I figure going that fast in normal would get boring..
