I want to be honest here with you Cryptic. Ive always had a hard time logging into this game and sticking with it for longer then a few months at a time. But I have been with this game since Early Access and I have at times spent WAY too much of my personal money on this game. Now I dont regret any of that because Ive always walked away from my purchases feeling as if I got what I was paying for. Be it uniforms, races, name changes, ship slots, ships and bundles. And at times Ive had my own criticisms of the company and the direction of the game. But Ive stuck with it regardless, always returning to get my Star Trek fix because no where else can I get to hop into my favorite starships and go off into the Star Trek Universe as a Captain. Though over the last year, Ive slowly started to take longer and longer breaks, with less and less time in the game when I do come back. Part of it has a lot to do with moving on to the Elder Scrolls Online. That game probably fits me much better than this one. And thats no fault of Cryptic or Star Trek Online. I know plenty of friends that love this game and Im happy to see them really enjoying themselves. The other side of it is that I just dont game on PC anymore. The vast majority of my games are in fact on PS4 now and Id rather jump into one of them and use my PC for the more boring adult stuff. Its kind of always been this way for me. I typically abandon PC games not long after I buy them. While Ill commit ungodly amounts of time to games on a Console (Yes PC Master Race...Ima Console Peasant). And there was a point earlier this year when I had pretty much made up my mind that I really didnt want to come back to Star Trek Online.
With this announcement the truth is Im ecstatic about the idea of being able to jump back into Star Trek Online this fall on Console. To be able to see my ships up on a big flat screen tv rather than my small laptop. But Im concerned that if I have to start over. I have to start from scratch that I might decide that my original decision to walk away from STO was the right one. I said earlier that I spent a lot of my money on this game. And I cant possibly imagine spending that much again get to where I am on PC on Console. Its just not feasible or financially responsible of me. Now as of 3 months ago, you had pretty much lost a customer. And while Im not a whale or the most important member of this community. Heck, Im just another player passing through according to your metrics. I am a player willing to continue spending money on this game with this move to bring the game to console. With this one announcement youve reversed a lost revenue source. But the only way I can convince myself to get back into Star Trek Online is if I can transfer my account from PC to PS4. And thats the point of this post. Not to demand it, not to act entitled to it or expect it. But to ask you, whomever reads this, to pass it along to those who are making the calls on all of this. To consider opening up a PC to Console Transfer.

then play with the wireless Xbone controller, or the DS4 controller (with proper drivers).
1.) It would require me to unplug my Console and replug it back in every time I wanted to play on it. Thats a bit of hassle that Im really not looking to deal with just to play it on my TV with the crappy graphics of my Laptop.
2.) It doesnt change the fact that generally speaking I primarily play on Console and since the game is coming to Console. Its just more convenient for me to DL the game onto my PS4 and run it off of that.
regardless...I don't think they're going to have account synchronization.
UNLESS they're smart enough to make it cross platform, by gods......WE CAN MAKE MILLIONS OF EC, and of course refresh the STF queues again.
And thats all Im asking for. It can even be a one way trip if they want.
Most likely the relationship between STO console and PC is going to be similar, if not identical, to Neverwinter across the same.

Or we could have a polite, respectful conversation about a request, not a speculative thread that might give the Developers something to think about in the next 3 to 4 months before the game comes to Console.
then I can easily conclude, within 2 years of release, the console servers will be shut down, and so will the main servers, having a console version made means it's got its own resource investment into it, dragging down the momentum.
if the console servers tank, so will STO itself.
They HAVE to make it cross play somehow. MS and Sony be damned. at least with the central server they have unity, with three separate platforms vying for developer time, it means there's a LARGER risk and consequence for failure.
No it doesn't and it's quite easy to point out why. See. World of Tanks, Warframe, and Neverwinter. As far as I know none of them support cross platform play and it's not bringing about the ruin of those respective games.
Anyway, to the point of account synchronization, it's fairly reasonable to expect this with some account-unlocks (ie. c-store purchases, double charging isn't likely to reflect well) but to ensure that the hill new console players have to climb isn't totally insurmountable (they're the core market for this after all, and we've had years to develop characters on the PC, including timed-exclusive event rewards) I can easily see there being no character transfers between versions of STO (even if it is technically possible).

Any game I plan on playing for more than a week or two I get for the PC, and MMOS simply BELONG on PC, I don't care how much magic they sprinkle on the UI or how many radial menus they add the controls will simply never be as intuitive as they are with keyboard and mouse.
Good luck getting OSS+AUX2BAT+EP2W+TacTeam+APA all up quickly for an alpha strike if you have to dive through a radial menu for each one
As long as we can still make Macros in the console version, it shouldn't be a problem

Same goes for this game, i rarely play now, but if it was on xbox would play a hell of a lot more. However if i lose all my TRIBBLE, then they can forget it. ill go back to playing other games instead.
And to the dude who said MMO's are made for PC, they WERE. New times, new rules, console makes so much money for people now, they have to consider it for any game. Its only in your head that consoles cant handle it. Xbox pads can have keypads plugged into them, and have ha that function for some time to be honest.
The only games i think are much better on PC are RTS games like total war. Cant wait for Warhammer!
By that you mean wait for the more unfortunate bits to filter in from someplace other than the official message board for the game.
