To ignore THE most important date in Trek history whilst running the only decent popular mmo based on the franchise seems to my mind to be a cataclysmic miscalculation. By Spock's beard, do they realise how much it will prove to players that they don't give a TRIBBLE about the IP? Even a blog or something would be some light relief.
may be too busy rolling dimes and nickels from the console arcade?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
Well i did find out why nothing is happening today from Startrek Mission NY, the answer is Agents of Yesterday and the release of STO on console were for the 50th anniversay nothing else was planned. At least thats what they told me.

Also happy 50th yay.
there you go
OK, Im going to be blunt. Whilst I appreciate there is time and cost involved in the AOY and all that came with it, I do really think that those comments from the Dev's are like a total s*it on the players.
A 50th only comes around once in a lifetime. And it's so unheard of in pop culture for something so prolific to happen like Star Trek did. There is no denying the influence it has had on our society. To do nothing is the worst case scenario they could have gone with. TOTAL FAIL.
As other's have said on here, even something simple as a different loading screen, dang a party popper like in ages past on here, would have at least shown something.
Not everything has to be a costly give-away. But it is the 50th. We are not talking something minor, it is a major milestone and that is the reason people are complaining. If other's can see why, why not the Devs and everyone else of importance?
