shuttles, ships and Admiralty - oh my!

Have been trying to get more ships and shuttles for my TOS character, but seem to have hit a bump.

* Do shuttles count as ships on the roster list?

* If not, how many shuttles can you have. I know the max ship slots is only 11 (IF you are a vet with the 3 accolades and haven't bought up to the 48 slot allotment from the C-store).

* Do you loose the ship card in Admiralty if you trash an old ship? (never tried, so don't know).

and...

* Whatever happened to the little yellow Fed shuttle? Looks a lot like the small Klingon shuttle, but is a Fed type. I had one on another account once, and you still see them in one of the Holodeck missions. Only now, I can find no mention of them.

Only curious.

Shuttles take space on your roster list, though IIRC one slot is dedicated to small craft. If all you want is the Admiralty cards, you either need to trash or Dry Dock the ship after it registers it for Admiralty. A tiny ship picture with the ship name will come up where collected loot shows (default above your chat) when it registers with Admiralty. If the tiny picture doesn't show, open up the DOff window and that usually triggers it registering, or double check your Ship Roster in the Admiralty.

No idea about the yellow shuttle.

    1) Shuttles do have Admiralty cards just the same as ships, only the stats are much lower.

    2) There is no limit on shuttles you can own or have Admirality cards of. Only limit on active ships/shuttles at a time.

    3) Once you get activate a ship/shuttle and get the admiralty card there is no way to dismiss a permanent admiralty card, its there forever. Exception for consumable 1x admiralty cards.

    4) The little yellow fed shuttle that you see in ESD shuttle bay is not a playable shuttle. These may be work bees.

No. So you can discharge any ships that you can reclaim and keep the card, then dry dock any ships you want to keep that you can't reclaim.

If you used dil, credits or a level up token for a ship you can not reclaim it. You also can't reclaim lobi and lock box ships. You can reclaim the event ships that required a multi-day grind, not the ones you got for doing one episode.

Found another (and easier to see) instance of the little yellow shuttle in the game. Go to Sol System Spacestation > Exchange area > walk to the window and look. Some times they fly by and there are a bunch parked there.

Now... what the heck happened to these? Like I said, I used to have one on another account, but don't remember what it was called, nor how it was obtained. THink it was a rare type of reward, but the wiki doesn't have it listed.

It might have been an award for the first shuttle mission if you DIDN'T have a shuttle when you entered it. I've thought about it and that feels about correct.

Yeah, officerbatman was right those are definitely work bees and they are not playable. However, the T5 Science Oddy has a console that lets you deploy work bees to repair the ship. If you are interested, you can go to the STO wiki and look under "small craft" to see a list of all playable Fed, KDF, ROM and Lobi shuttles, fighters, and runabouts. As far as I know/can tell none have ever been removed from the game, but you are correct that the work bees look a whole lot like the KDF Kivra shuttle.

As a side note, the free shuttle you get for the mission "The Vault" (At least for Fed and possibly TOS Fed) is actually the Type-8 which, in the picture you provided, is the one sitting right in front of that group of work bees. The Yellowstone runabout and Danube in the background are also playable, but the Yellowstone is C-Store and the Danube is for EC. Further, the Class-F shuttle (The TOS one) is normally part of a C-Store bundle but for TOS toons you get one for free as part of the 23rd Century ESD tutorial. If you missed it though, I'm not sure if you can claim it after reaching the 25th century.

Finally, I think the others covered the rest of your questions, but I would add one last thing. I know stats on small craft might seem not very helpful when starting out in admirality, but their strength really rests with their abilities. The two most common being a 25% reduction to ship card cooldowns (Useful for Ultra Rare and Epic cards which take forever.) and the ones with 5x crit chance booster. (Great to really propel your campaign forward.) Anyway, good luck with your admirality endeavours and I hope the above was useful. :)

Yes, shuttles count as ships on the roster.
Therefore, you can only have as many shuttles as ship roster slots you "elect" to devote to shuttles (ie, with your 11 ship slots, put your ship in one, the other 10 slots can be shuttles).

And no, you don't lose admiralty cards if you trash ships. Did that to my entire C-store and event complements multiple times in order to ensure that I had all the admiralty cards from them and could still reclaim the ship later if I really wanted to fly it.
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

Their stats are lower, but they do give some nice bonuses like X5 chance or faster repairs.

One thing to keep in mind about shuttles in Admiralty: They don't count for any "per ship" bonuses, like the Danube's -25% maintenance per ship. A lot of cards with that kind of bonus specify "per Tac ship" or explicitly exclude small craft, but not all of them mention this rule.

Small craft are a good way to get that last point or two you're missing for an assignment, and the Type-8 Shuttle is basically 20 points in all stats as long as you have two full-sized ships slotted already. Not bad for 20K EC.
