Hindu luck symbols are banned in Germany. I'm not sure about other National Social references. I mean... Call of Duty WW2 games were still sold over there.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

German law allows you to use the WW2 idea provided that it's historically accurate and you don't glorify it.
I doubt very much the game would ever get banned there, particularly when a certain fleet used similar insignia to the 3rd Reich, and nothing was done about it in game or out.
Okay, I can understand most and even agree with some of this. The 'absurdity of aliens cross-dressing' part, however, is not one such part. In both cases, there was a fairly valid reason for why the aliens of the week were wearing NSP(?) uniforms.
A. The Hirogen were participating in a holographic recreation of a WW2 French town, as German officers. This wasn't the only simulation they were in, and they were trying to find alternative ways of satisfying their thirst for hunting.
B. The Na'kuhl were trying to TRIBBLE up Earth's history, and return to the future at the same time. What better way to do that than to ally with a potentially successful (unlike the USSR in the later Cold War, WW2 Germany didn't seem to be [/I]that[/I] bad off, it just made several strategic errors) failure in one of the planet's greatest wars? Going farther back in time would probably have messed up the timeline even further, but it would come at the cost of lessening their ability to build the temporal conduit and return to the TCW at large.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
You'll excuse me if I don't cry tears for Germany's reputation.
The only thing the Germans have learned is that when it comes to taking over Europe, bankers work more effectively then tanks, just ask the Greeks.
Germany should pay back what it owes the Greeks for war crimes.
German has a history of trying conqueor Europe, they destroyed Roman Empire, WWII, and now trying to use bankers to dominate the Europe.
There have been many brilliant Germans, kind Germans, and thier policy on sex work is more evolved, but that doesn't change the fact that German behavior has shown they should never have been allowed to reunify after the cold war.
Weak as that episode was, the idea of traveling back to WWII Earth, maybe shooting at Messerschmitts from a shuttlecraft or something, is appealing to me.
You'll excuse me if I don't cry tears for Germany's reputation.

the game could get banned in Germany. They're sort of like the North there. They remember, but they want to forget.
I entirely agree with Bernd Schneider's view on this matter, posted in the form of a review of the Enterprise episode 'Zero Hour', written back in 2004. It's a bit of a 'wall of text' but worth reading nonetheless:
[snip a bunch of whining and absurd amounts of butthurt]

I, on the other hand, disagree in the entirety.
As you are entitled. That doesn't make him wrong and your reply does nothing to elaborate on you disagreement.
Considering his long winded rant is merely an OPINION, he is neither right NOR wrong. It's just his point of view. Just as it's my point of view that he's full of it.
As for "elaboration" I feel neither the need or desire to do so.

Dude.
Your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes. He saved 800 lives, including your mother's, and yours.
Also to the poster who mentioned that the Americans should use their own history...
Apparently you haven't seen the OJ Simpson Trial Mini-Series, or the Two Versions of "ROOTS", or the multitude of sit-coms that chit on American Life on a regular basis...
If there is one thing we "Amercun's" are good at on TV..., it's pointing out our own flaws on almost a daily basis.
Hell, just take a look at the current News Meta with our Presidential Campaign.

I really don't agree with how many nations try to ignore the terrible parts of their history, the US with slavery,Britain with the huge amounts of crimes it did while being a colonial empire and Germany in WW2.It should not be seen as something that would be better to pretend didn't exist and instead to see it as something that is a part of human history as a whole that has lead us to our current point. Is it sad that 60 million people died in ww2 due to the actions of a austrian,a italian dude and a imperialist japanese man?Of course but even if I had a time machine I would not change it due to it having a massive impact on the current world today. It happened, and it cannot be undone no matter how hard germany tries to censor it.
I never said a word about Germany, just the followers of Hitler, those are only synonymous in your mind. If some Germans want to take it personally thats on them.
You don't get one without the other and you know it.
Tell that to Italy and Spain. It is not synonymous.

Opinion it may be, but he isn't really wrong and frankly, "I feel neither the need or desire to do so" is a cop out.
I have little doubt that if someone in Germany repeatedly OVER GENERATIONS made movies/TV episodes that reminded Americans of something from their history they'd rather forget they'd be similiarly offended.
As for it being a cop-out, think as you will. I don't really care. I won't get deep into it because politics is against forums rules, and this falls into that realm. Considering the level of moderation on STO Forums nowadays, and even if I don't post much anymore for reasons I'd rather not discuss, I would still like to keep my account open. Getting into a classic "internet argument" isn't worth the banhammer.
I will say this, though. His "article" is just an opinion that you happen to agree with. It isn't necessarily holy gospel on high. It's also my opinion that he's full of it (as I mentioned before). However, my disagreement with him doesn't stem from what you listed. Americans are bombarded all the time about stuff we have corrected, for the most part, long ago all in the interests of stirring the pot, and division for the sake of politics. Foreign nationals like to slam aspects of the American character all the time, especially in the media and on the internet. So, if the Germans started making movies harping on our history of slavery, it wouldn't be a change from the status quo.
I will also agree that brow beating the Germans over the NSDAP and World War II is wrong, and has happened. But using the TRIBBLE as villains in fictional media in the States isn't part of that problem. It's just a case of Hollyweird, novelists, and vidya designers lacking imagination. It's similar to how modern Russians are overused as villains in video games due to shallow writing, rather than a further attempt to demonize both the Russians and nationalism. They're just "easy" villains to be used due to creative laziness. The same is true of using TRIBBLE as villains, rather than a deliberate attempt to further browbeat them.
The fact that he's butthurt over his perceived "overuse" of TRIBBLE Germany as a bad guy in fiction means nothing. His belief and reasons as to why have no basis in reality.
I always thought Seven of Nine was of Germanic Heritage.
Of course she could probably also be considered a Scandinavian descendant, but I think most folks watching would get more of a German feel from that character.
