I do not see a point in participating in a forum that only has the purpose as a place for players to vent
when angry. So my question to them...not players, is What is the real purpose of this forum ? (in other words)
If it is not a two way interaction between players and the folks designing new content for the game (to at least some
measurable extent), then I want to know.
If it is not, I can feel justified in ignoring the forum as a waste of time.
I like the game, but I am a busy person and I do not want to expend effort that is absolutely wasted.
In this question I will not accept answers from other players.
At 192 posts in 26 months, I wouldn't exactly say you're engaging with the forum even now. That's not even two posts a week.

Since exactly NOTHING enters the game without a patch note (when things are working properly) being disparaging of them is rather silly. Getting a patch note is the feedback loop to tell you something you were pushing for/promoting actually made it in.
For the sake of my poor, twitching OCD, could you please correct the icons for the final two nodes in the Command specialization, Boost Morale II and Revitalize II? They both have roman numeral 1s, instead of the 2s they should have in the lower left corner.
Now that I've noticed it I literally cannot unsee it. Please. Double please. Pretty please !

technically, neither the devs nor moderators post patch notes, that's what the community managers do.
