No, I rather they keep them how they are.
OP, Help me out here, how do disco balls drive players away? Can you name any players who have quit because of disco balls?

You also state "I have payed like hundreds of dollors to get zen, and I don't feel apreceated nor do others." Spelling and grammar aside, what happens if another player has spent just as much or more that you and wants more social toys? By your own argument, that is the determining factor in how that game should be run.

I didn't really keep track of the amount of money I've spent on zen before I was gifted with my lifer on Saturday, but I know it was several hundred. No, not a large amount compared to how much others spend, but it's still in support of this game that I love. And the OP does not speak for me either.

I don't want to be forced to dance, but I don't want to curtail the fun of those who want to pop the party balls off and let their toons work off some stress.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

I have, in the time I've been playing, spent at least a couple of thousand on zen sub fees, and various services. Just wanted to reassure you the OP does not speak for me.

Exactly my point, paying for internet spaceships does not entitle any of us to dictate terms on how the game is run.

My next issue is with this statement " But yeah its also a hassle for normal players with not very good machines. It does lag the server. I think this is important for them to address."

OP, do you have any proof or can you show any references from cryptic that states that any social items lags the server? I can't seem to find any.

Forget it, those horses are out of the barn already. Leave it as it is and get the Nullifier. What could you have possibly been thinking by starting a Thread like this. First, you know it will not end well. Second, it is like a honeypot and that 'they' would all be out in full force, praising to high heaven the items they believe to be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Save yourself the grief the next time and if the impulse comes over you - walk away.

I've never lagged in the social zones while disco balls were going off either, and my machine is not the best in the world. In fact, to go mining I have to reduce my graphics a bit or the minigame will lag a bit.

But that's on my end, not Cryptic's.

I've suggested before that the ignore function be extended to completely remove those on the list from sight, not simply their chat. It would allow people the ability to play in peace no matter how disruptive others tried to be, and eliminate any possibility of trolling from the game. Make. Them. Invisible.

    Would love this feature!

Why even have them in the game at all? More left over Champions stuff. Giving players an in game item that they can use to force other players into unwanted activity is pretty uncool. And bad for the games social enviorment. As far as I know D Stahl came up with that thing, and the numerous other party favor toys. Risa got made "Hands Off" for those because they broke immersion for players and the players effected made it well known. made the fact very well known.

Lets s try not to have any more repeats.

^^This. You're not getting rid of the party balls. You're not getting them banned from social zones. They're a social thing. They made nullifiers for people who don't want to be forced to dance. I own them. I'll dance if and when I want to, but I'm not complaining about the use of the balls.

I only objected to their use during the memorial to Leonard Nimoy's passing. IMO, that was completely inappropriate. Others obviously felt differently. But the devs then set a limit on that by putting a no-party ball-zone around the statue.

There's nothing wrong with having the party balls in the social zones, that's what they were made for.

The nullifier stops your character from dancing, but it doesn't mute the horrible, obnoxious music or turn off the hideous strobe lights. So nullifiers aren't the complete answer to this problem.

The point is, not about the party balls its about the other party devices, the balloon gun people can use it to spam zones with balloons, this is a device that seriously needs to be changed. Another thing they need to do is remove the abilty to use any combat powers that effect others in social zones. I know folks like there party balls, but I personally think if swim wear can't be worn other then risa then, party ballons should not be able to be used anywhere other then there.
Or on anniversary events only like the winter event items. But I would prefer it just on risa. When devices are used to deliberaty try to drive people from an area, its become a problem that I think they do need to fix.

Well, another thing that can be done with the balloon gun, is this. They make them only useable one time, they can't be spammed. Its an abilty that spawns just a few balloons and thats it they can't do it again for ten minutes. fire supresser device should also be non useable on any social zone. They are the too big problems I have noticed and it disgusts me they won't take care of these problems, it does break immersion its Trolling+Harrasment.

Eh, I don't find the music or strobe lights that hideous. Bright and colorful, yes, but not hideous. But that's me. You find them hideous, that's you. Doesn't mean that they should be only reserved for Risa. Risa isn't the only social zone in the game.

I would also not be against being able to wear swimwear in other social zones. For others. Just because I wouldn't do that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see others be able to if they want to.

Again, help me out, why is there an equivalency between swimwear and party items? It's functionally the same as saying " I can't make my starfleet uniform purple, so you can't use tribbles, because their noise is annoying!"

Also, help yourself be more credible, press f7 before you post.

Which is why I edited my post, I don't want to take the fun away, but its got to be in places like a party hall! I do think this would give them an excuse to make new places to use all this stuff. Plus I do want to see more ground social hubs. They can leave donzana and ds9 unuseable to the devices but all these party hubs could be unrestricted whatever you want to do party time clubs and social zones.

The reason swim wear is not permitted off Risa is because it would create a mockery of the game. Starfleet officers and other military have uniform code.

I think Party balloons and other devices should be only allowed in bars, on Risa and bridges.
I was on Vulcan when Leonard Nimoy died and I found it annoying when people came firing off fireworks and disco balls.
I've never liked them on ESD either, and I have zero interest in obtaining these devices. I don't use them period because they're stupid.

Just rid the game of them or restrict them to specific areas. It's silly to think starfleet or the KDF or Romulans would allow for nonsense like that on their stations... This is a STAR TREK game, if you want to throw balls around go play Pokemon.

I spend approximately US $40.00 a month on this game. I have done so since January 2013. I also have and use these so-called "troll devices". I do not use them willy nilly. But they are part of the game. I spend money on this game and let me tell you clearly, OP.

You DO NOT speak for me! Not now. Not ever.

Your arrogant assumption, where you claim these things drive way 'players who spend money on this game' is really very stupid. It is also shortsighted and selfish. You have not earned the right to call me a troll because I use items in the game you dislike. People such as yourself, with your snotty attitudes which you try to inflict on everyone in earshot, are a severe burden upon on this game. Your ability to play STO and then come in here and rant like a spoiled two year old is financed and supported by myself and people like me. Most of whom will not even notice your tantrum since they do not come here at all.

I have words I'd like to use to describe both you and your blissfully ignorant opinion of people such as myself. However, the ToS for these forums does not allow me to call the fragrant, vapor-producing, pile of bovine biological byproduct you call a post by it true name.

Oh yeah, one more thing: Your ability to play STO, which is financed and supported by myself and other players like me?

    You're frakkin' welcome!.

Despite the crude language, that is the honest truth. I doubt anything is going to be done with the party balls. We got the nullifiers to be able to keep still while doing our business at whatever social zone we're at. I really don't think they should be banned. It's easy to ignore them, at least for me. It's just part of the background sights and sounds to me now. It certainly wouldn't drive me from the game since I started out FTP about three or four years ago and now having the LTS.

Some people are just overly-sensitive. I used to be, but then I got over it over the years.

Cryptic not dealing with it, has in fact driven some folks and friends away from this game. Some will not give cryptic another dime, because of it. its possible Cryptic is facing several suits because they are allowing this. Not sure if the being sued thing is true. the person taht told me about this or was talking about it said he was not sure his source was reliable. But yes, its a problem.

Druk is right. Drozana, ESD, DS9. They're all party zones.

And may I say the stuff in zone chat in those zones irritates me far worse than someone popping a party ball, but you know what? I fix that by turning off zone chat when I can't stand it and leave it off for awhile.

Maybe I am just angry. But would you be if players were dissing with your immersion. But yes, this is something that does have to be addressed. A new show is about to come out, a lot of rpers will return to the game, as well as many other new folks. I know they have a lot of issues, with being understaffed or other problems and other mmos they have to worry about. But yeah making it so the people harshing will be delt with could basically set an example maybe bring certain folks driven off because of it back.
