Exploration Foundry Challenge - Play and vote for your favorite!

For the past five weeks, intrepid Foundry authors have been working round the clock to bring you eight exciting exploration-themed missions.

Now it's your turn! Give these missions a play and vote for which one you think is the best, and best represents the theme. Voting is open to any and all STO players.

The list of missions and voting instructions is available HERE

Players have two weeks to play the missions and send me a PM on the official forum with their vote. Limit one vote per person. There will be prizes for the winner.

Note: If you do not see one of the listed missions, click the box labeled "Become a Reviewer" and then search in the "Review" tab in the Foundry mission journal.

    I was under the impression people couldn't get in and play new foundry missions right now?

    Either way, you've certainly made me curious. I hope to check it out soon :).

    No KDF.... except for Shades of Intrigue. But it's not clear if the KDF conversion is coming before or after July 5th.

    Well, themes in exploration do tend to lend themselves better to the other side. :tongue:

    But, I'll make a note for next time (possibly a TOS Foundry challenge) that the KDF could use some love. :)

    Yeah, as much as I love writing missions for KDF... I had a specific concept here and it didn't work for KDF.

    Mine was more neutral but that's kind of why it wouldn't work well if I just flipped the faction and swapped NPC mobs. The next mission I write for the KDF I really want to indulge with it.

    I posted a Fed mission this time, but have two missions in the works for KDF. Keep in mind that Klingons did not have much use for science (which they thought was a weak pursuit) and exploration (outside of grabbing new territory and finding new resources to feed the Imperial machine) up until the Delta Alliance. A proposed series after Nemesis (before further TV series and movies were scrapped), was to have been focused on a time that Klingons were no longer war-like and became as much the explorers as the Terrans and other scientifically-minded races of the galaxy.

    It's also worth mentioning that the winner will be announced after the Foundry has come back online from its AOY downtime (~2-4 weeks after launch). That way the mission is available for people to play/go back to.

    Awesome, I haven't played a foundry mission in ages. I'll do as many as I can next week.

    I definitely agree with that. There have been several times when I have gotten gung-ho about playing foundry every day, but I'm notoriously bad at navigating these sorts of things and before you know it I've given up on the project.

    That's the feedback we've been getting from most players. Hopefully a fix will come sooner than later as the Foundry is a terrific resource for the game. :)

    lol, indeed. Good content is always reason enough to play. One thing to note for the general audience is that the AEI isn't going away after this. It's an open project that any Foundry author can contribute to, so we may see more missions in the not to distant future. If people liked what we had here, they should check back from time to time. :)

    I sincerely hope you'll consider doing more of these little community events, too. It brings the Foundry front and center for a little while. It also makes that navigation hassle less of a .. well.. hassle, since we know exactly what missions we're looking for.

    We've been thinking about a TOS Foundry challenge as the next big thing. I can't possibly say when that might result in missions but, if we go that route, we'll certainly keep folks in the loop.

    Overall I like the [AEI] series. Picking one to win will be a bugger.

    Hmm.... We kinda did a [Mirror] one. The others though.... lots of intriguing ideas. I've always wanted to see what DS9 KT would be like. :p

    played through all of these and voted.....was a tough choice. Just wanted to thank the authors for their time. Good stories and I enjoyed all of them
