Torp set advice...

dykerasdykeras Member Posts: 326 Arc User
I am going to run a 4xDHC + 1 Torp on my Pilot Escort, focusing on disruptor damage but unsure which torp/Set is best, so could use some advice...

The ones I have in mind are ...

1, Lobi - Bounty hunters friend + Plasma Torp = Gives -10% weapon power and 32% Torp damage
2, Bioneural circuits (I will be using this module anyway) and Elachi torp = 8.9% Disruptor damage bonus
3, Counter command Bio molecular turret + Photon Torp = 7.8% disruptor damage bonus
4, Stand alone Neutronic torp = Good damage for a torp
5, Breen Cluster torp = Good damage and no need Bridge torp skills, freeing up for other skills

Which one would be best ? And which one to avoid? My preference is for the Bounty hunters friend, but I hear the Plasma torp is not very good...

I'd go with the bio-torp and heavy turret. That can come in disruptor flavour and the 2pc bonus is for disruptor damage equal to a MkXII spire tac console just about. So it's a good set if it fits you build.
The turret will work with a DHC build and the bio-torp itself is extremely good in both spread and high yield. In fact with a good build you can get crits of over 200k damage from that torp on HY.

Neutronic is good, but I'd slap on the Bio-neural gel pack console too. Set bonus lowers the CD of the torp by 5 seconds (25%) of I remember right.

For reputation torps I've always like the Gravametric one. The Torp Spread power on it is great since the torp can make little grav well things. Not a huge fan of the High Yield cause it makes a slow destroy-able torp like Plasma Torps make. And for me, rarely seems to get to the target before being popped. (unless used on aft and dropped like a quasi-mine). And for some reason, I have a liking of the Har'peng torp for when I don't want to slot a torp power. (it can't use any, like the Breen Cluster)

But for your setup, I'd have to go with the Counter command Bio molecular turret + Photon Torp.
Photons are generally the highest DPS torps.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

Either the MACO or adapted MACO rep set has a 2pc bonus of +25% torpedoes.

Since you are using disruptors I'd use the Terran Task Force torpedo along with the Terran Task Force DHC. The TTF energy weapon (the rep ones, not the ones from the store) are the single best energy weapon in the game at the moment. Since you are running disruptors already, you can gain heavily from this weapon. Also, the Terran Task Force torpedo scales up in damage as enemy hull goes down. It's relatively low-CD and can hit really hard when you hit NPCs at 25% or less HP. Combined, the two give a good bonus to torpedo damage.

With just 1 torpedo, the Ferrofluid Hydraulic Assembly console is optional. The 3-pc bonus isn't that great anyway (especially with just 1 torp).

The Enhance Bio-Molecular torpedo isn't that good under torpedo spread. You can use that (paired with the Turret) under HY but in terms of damage, you'll get better numbers from the Terran Task Force cannons and torp.

Quantum Phase Torpedo - It drains enemy shields, using it with torp spread it will leave the enemy ship vulnerable to more torp attacks and direct damage in general.
Your Isokinetic Cannon deals 150902 (37320) Kinetic Damage(Critical) to Vonph Battleship.

This here is my BOOM stick.
