The below image is just an minor small example of how the ship effects look, they get very laggy in big battles not to mention you lose immersion when all that effect galor is going on... I think there should be an option to turn that off. Anyway what do you guys think?

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
I would like to turn off some of the effects, but a all on or all off option would not help me.
That is exactly what I mean, and that's only the beginning, every big battle I'm in I normally can't even see my ship or the enemy ship... just giant light effects all around showing me that I am debuffing, buffing, attacking, and more.
Does not affect anybody else.
The 'effects' in the game have become a little too over the top. Even with a high spec PC my system lags with all the silly things going on.
I was just wording it overall the effects that happen to you or an enemy ship during a buff, debuff, attack, and so forth...
My computer is fine with handling it, you completely miss the point here. I am saying it ruins the immersion for me as I can't even see the enemy ship at times nor my ship do to all the buff, debuff and other effects my ship and their ship shows while in battles, especially big ones.
There's the little boxes under the target box for that.
Bad computers isn't the problem, default graphic settings being maxed out without a way to change them is a problem.
If you had been reading any of the threads made about problems with STO graphics you'd realise that they can melt high-end gaming rigs whilst newer games, that often have much higher system requirements, run with no problems at all.
So you are opposed to the OPTION for others to turn off the effects if they don't find them as useful as you do?
I fully support this. Unfortunately, I don't think it's something that can be done. At least not easily.
Overall I think they should go for a bit more subtlety with the SFX. Maybe a revamp couldn't hurt.
Some effects are fine, like Gravity Well or Tyken's Rift. But everything happening on the ship itself can quickly become overwhelming.
Lol, Gravity Well and Tyken's Rift have NOTHING to do with the effects were talking about, as you can see in the picture it's about the overlays on the ships when buffing, debuffing, and so forth... I love the effects of Tyken's Rift and Gravity well.
it is not a matter of good or bad computers, it is a matter of all the skills used at the same time; a space fight looks like a firework; I know that you like the disco balls, but come on! those visuals are very annoying
If players like these visuals, they keep them enabled, and those who don't like them, should have an option to disable these effects. btw, i have a good computer, and each time that i do a stf my eyes bleed

Not just that but also players who like the immersive experience don't get that in giant battles, more just a light show :P
Wait...are you for an option to disable the visual effects or against the option? Sorry, I'm confused.
It's been asked before, art devs said shout more, people shouted more, not much happened.
The OP's screenshot isn't even bad. It gets way, way worse.
Anyway I don't see how a toggle option could hurt anyone. People who like the effects can leave them on, people who don't can turn them off.

Exactly, I'm not talking about getting rid of all that stuff, only the garbage light show that goes on when you are in battles, especially giant ones.
I said No because, why break something that is not broken. Now to wait for someone to tell me why I'm wrong.
