Ambassador Class refit/T6

With the current temporal theme playing out in game, wouldn't be nice to get a refit/T6 Ambassador Class? Using the design originally done by Mr. Probert. After seeing a cgi model on Trekyards (episode 111), I fell in love with the design. It would be great to have it available for STO.

I sincerely doubt this will ever come to be.

Why? Because it simply doesn't fit any need and demand would likely be low. The Guardian already fills the role that a T6 Ambassador would fill and a ship like this simply doesn't fill any need. The Guardian isn't a very popular ship, and it doesn't seem likely that a T6 Ambassador would fare much better.

This of course is opinion on my part, I don't have any inside knowledge or anything.. I just really don't think this will ever happen.

In my opinion the Guardian is, for all intends and purposes, the Ambassador's successor. It's design is even heavily influenced by Probert's Ambassador draft.

As much as the Phantom was a successor of the Defiant?

I think it's not an unlikely candidate for an eventual Tier 6 Retrofit, but it's probably low priority. It's not remotely as popular as the Defiant, Galaxy, Excelsior or Sovereign, and you know how long we waited or are waiting on some of those.

Cryptic just needs to introduce a new specialization, and there would be somethnig it could do that isn't already covered by the existing ships. (And I agree that in general, there is a big saturation in Cruisers.)
I don't consider it a viable candidate for a Cruiser with a Pilot spec, but there could be some others.

The Guardian isn't a very popular ship, and it doesn't seem likely that a T6 Ambassador would fare much better.

But the Ambassador is a canon vessel, and thus it has an in-built higher audience than the Guardian.

No. I honestly don't get why the Phantom should be a Defiant, the ships have literally nothing in common even from a lore standpoint. The Guardian, however, uses heavily inspired design elementsand purpose. What adds up to it is that the Ambassador isn't a official released c-store ship. If it was I wouldn't day another ship is supposed to be the same. If we had a T5 Ambassador retrofit in the store I'm fairly certain the Guardian would have been called "Guardian Support Cruiser" and shared the Ambassador's parts.

There's a place for it. The Resolute fills that same medium-cruiser niche, but it got a special one-off update. If there's one class of ship the Feds will always be bloated with, it's cruisers.

I hope a T6 Ambassador comes, and definitely agree on it being based heavily on - or just straight up a copy of - the original concept art.

Truth be told, the Ambassador is my favourite of all Trek ships. So I definitely have some bias towards wanting this thing to be updated.

The Guardian is pretty much it; what they should have done is make it able to share the parts, but they didn't.

I love the Ambassador, she is my favorite cannon cruiser, still use my T5U, but given how few of her were made in canon, makes no sense for an upgrade. The Yorktown stats with the SoJourner Hull is my T6 Support Cruiser.

there are other ships that will get a T6 version first I suspect, like the temporal ships, hopefully we will finally see a K'vort, maybe a T6 veranus

I for one would buy the T6 version in a heart beat! I am also a hugh fan of the Ambassador Class! Fell in love with her since "Yesterdays Enterprise" first aired on TNG! Yes I am old!

Yes please. I love the Ambassador, always have. I'd even settle for something like letting the Guardian use an Ambassador skin considering how heavily the Guardian is based on the Ambassador concept art, though I realise the chance of that is slim-to-none.

If only they'd added Ambassador parts to the Guardian like the did for the Resolute and the Excelsior. At least the Ambassador and Guardian look like each other unlike the Resolute and Excelsior

Yes we had a T6 Excelsior despite the CBCs using Excelsior inspired parts, but doing this would solve two "problems" - take one of the unreasonable supercruisers and shrink it down to reasonable size (since they removed crew we don't even have a plausiblity problem of 1100 people on the ship) AND unite what should have been together from the start. Plus aside from shrinking the Guardian model, no work for Cryptic's ship people at all, everything's already in-game (they probably have to make the hull materials available for the Ambassador and make sure the parts can be combined but other than that...)

Honestly, this suggestion makes so much sense that it's kinda silly it's not being done.

There are people that want a T6 Ambassador, this lets them appeal to that crowd without having to design a new ship or really doing much work at all.

The added appeal of the Ambassador/Guardian Kitbash would give the Guardian a nice spike in sales. To this day, I'm convinced that the only reason the Guardian doesn't sell better is because people don't like it's appearance. It really is a great, very well rounded ship.. it's not the stats that are failing to appeal to players.

Going with this suggestion gives them a boost in potential sales without having to do much of anything at all. It's a true win/win scenario.

I have several T6 ships, but none are as good as the Ambassador T5u imo. The seating in the Ambassador is great, the ship stats are great, and it looks great. It doesnt need a "gimmick" extra ability, or pets or anything else. Its a clean and simple ship that can be configured easily and simply to be great in different combinations of gear. By comparison some of the T6 ships have wonky seating arrangments, have some weird stats and look kinda fugly. And they have those consoles that make setting up the ship awkward or your forced in to one style of weapon/energy type.

I would buy a T6 Ambassador that had the ensign seat upgraded to a Lt, in a heart beat. And I mean that. The whole "spiritual succesor" thing doesnt wash. The Guardian is not a T6 Ambassador, and therefor I do not want the Guardian. I want a T6 Ambassador to add to my fleet.

As I said months ago in this thread, given how little were made in universe, a T6 upgrade isn't realistic, but on the other hand we are all Fleet Admirals with political influence, so from that view it makes sense.

I've been thinking about getting the T6 Sci Odyssey and using the Sojourner Skin on the Yorktown as a replacement.

Why do you assume there were little made in universe? Not much were shown on screen since the physical model got damaged and was too expensive to fix, but the class seemed to be a success introducing new technology like phaser arrays and strong shielding. It is very probably that until the Galaxy launched the Ambassador was the flagship class of Starfleet, still serving during DS9's run.

I ran my T5 Ambassador as my main from the first day I got it from the Temporal Ambassador mission. It suited my playstyle and it was my favorite looking ship to fly. It was a real Star Trek ship.

I eventually upgraded to the fleet version and later the T5-U fleet Ambassador. Always loved flying it.

And a few months ago I bit the bullet and bought the Fleet Guardian, because it's the closest thing to a T6 Ambassador we have. And while I use that as my main now because of the extra console spot, I still prefer the visual appeal of the older Ambassador.

As someone who rarely spends money on STO, but plopped down everything for anything Ambassador class related they could sell me, I think it would be worth it for them to sell me the skins so I can put them on my Guardian. I'd buy it.

Perhaps the Ambassador had a short run, and was replaced by the Yamaguchi?

The Yamaguchi-type is a refit of the Ambassador. So yes, ultiamtely all active Ambassadors became Yamaguchis, but we still don't get so see them that often, unfortunately

You would never hear the end of it.

The only reason you don't hear people complaining about the BOPs moving wings anymore is that there are so many less KDF players and they are so undersupported that this is one of the tiniest issue they have.

If you retroactively change a ship, you will get trouble. Changing the size of a ship is pretty much impossible to do, no matter whether it could be done easily or not.

We'll have to wait for a Tier 6 Ambassador Retrofit, and that's the end of it.

No matter how many people claim the Guardian isn't the Ambassador, under the hood it is. It has similar stats and it's seating is practically identical. Even from it's shape, you can tell it's Ambassador T6.

I have all interations of the Ambassador, and I consider the Guardian it's successor.

Except its no where near as sexy... the rest is mostly true I grant you, but when you compare it to the fleet ambassador the seating is different... no I love my T5U Ambassador... if I could id sleep with it next to my pistols... yes I do keep several pistols in bed with me at night...have for years... lol
