May's here, and with the beginning of the new month, there's also a new theme for our regularly scheduled artistic carnage expressions, in form of your meticulously taken screenshots. No beating around the bush or in the words of my character, no irrelevant discourses, and let's get onto it!
Your Theme is:
May's Theme: "Red, Blue & Yellow!"
This month comes in with a small twist, fellow Captains. And to explain the theme in detail - We want to highlight each respective career. The "colors" of Star Trek, so to speak. Scientists, Doctors, Engineers, Ops officers, Tactical Officers, Command Officers! That kind of flavor. Capture the daily work of your careers, give them some lime-light in a way you feel it expresses your characters & their careers the best. All factions encouraged and welcome.
Here's the twist. Given how many possibilities there are, we won't have just 3 winners this month. We'll have 6 winners this month, two per one career. It'll look like this:
Tactical!
- First Place
- Second Place
Engineering!
- First Place
- Second Place
Science!
- First Place
- Second Place
Don't forget to have some fun with those & give us your best.
For one F.A.Q. - To upload your screenshots, use a public hosting service, such as www.imgur.com and then post its' URL with the

To summarize:
It's 'career' time. Science/Medical, Engineering/Ops, Tactical/Command. You decide how to represent those in your submissions. There are no limits, all factions welcome.
Tools like Photoshop or taking screenshots from Demorecord Tool, from the demos you recorded are perfectly within rules!
Only one entry per one user.
Entering the contest with more than one account, to bypass the "one entry per user" rule WILL get you disqualified.
You can edit your entry throughout the month's contest at your leisure. Just edit your entry with another picture if you want/need to.
Have fun!
Have fun!
PRIZES:
1st Prize = 1500 ZEN + Your screenshot gets made into an Official STO Wallpaper!
2nd Prize = 1000 ZEN
3rd Prize = 500 ZEN
FEW RULES:
All images must be at least 1920x1080 for submission. Or larger.
One entry per month per author. You can re-entry next month if you don't win.
Images not meeting the size-requirement will not qualify for the grand- prize of being converted into a wallpaper!
All images must be submitted in JPEG form. If you add any graphic elements to your picture, make sure you do keep the .PSD file, in case you win!
Adding custom flavor to your image is encouraged! (Ie. editing in Photoshop)
Absolute must - All images must be purely made by using Star Trek Online visual assets. Don't use any TV series/movies pictures!
No usage of third-party 3D models. As above. Your entries must be done purely by using STO visual assets and/or your creativity. (Photoshop editing - it HAS to be your work)
A LITTLE HOW TO:
All entries must be at least 1920x1080. There are few ways how to get a good picture.
Type "/renderscale 2" (or larger number, but needs stronger computer/GPU) into your chat window before you take the image.
Type "/screenshot" to take image.
This will create a large .TGA file in the directory, which you can convert in Photoshop, to fit the required size.
Additionally, you can edit your screenshot, to add custom perks to it, you deem fit! The only rule here is, again, and this is emphasised - it must be your work!
You can find your screenshot folder in "\Star Trek Online\Star Trek Online\Live\screenshots" - that being a rule of thumb on most computers
Good luck to every participant, we're looking forward to your entries. Be Efficient!
~Captain Jan

Just for clarification, is that one entry per person period, or one entry for each career per person?
One entry-per user still stands. Pick the one which you think suits you best~!

I know.. just one entry allowed, but I'm torn between the careers and hence I post a screenie for each career and decide which one will participate at the end of the contest (in case I forget to choose - please take the Engineer).

As an Chief Engineer you always have to improvise.. even if it means (mis)using security staff for fixing small leaks with their phaser (while the engineer solves the real problem at the console) ;P And so yet another secret was revealed of how engineers are performing their "miracles" (always ahead of the given time).

Some fun facts:
-I made this scene in the foundry
-The blueish fire thing in the background was actually a Devidian being invisible or something.
-The person right under the Devidian is my Foundry character
-I used tac, eng, and sci characters in this scene. See if you can spot them all
-The injured person the further medic is examining is actually a member of the Foundry away team that I positioned to her, targeted the member, then clicked "kill target." I did that with all of my officers.
Captain Payne inspecting the new recruits at bootcamp.
If you don't see the description of this and look at it at first look, it looks like the captain has randomly forced a bunch of Starfleet officers to randomly begin doing pushups! They also look like clones without taking a closer look.

These are Starfleet Officers. The best of the best of the best. They are not doing push ups. They are stabilizing the planetary orbit.

Are those pics done with the new dynamic lighting (in beta, of course)?
I know only one pic is allowed to go in the running, but I am hoping these two shots of the same ship count as two halves of one item, and if by some miracle that my ship pic ends up high in the ratings, u then have a choice of the two backgrounds to select

R.R.W. Buzzard (Outside The Captain's Table club).
I don't know in terms of quality what you all will think of my shots, given that I do not have, nor have I ever used photoshop, but I thought the spatial backdrop of the area the Captain's Table is in would make an ideal pic for my ship with its upgrade 4 paint job.
I do, however, have a powerful PC+card and have the game on max graphics, and the metal-shine is quite good in game
Here's my alt screenshot:

All of this being said, though, it would make me very happy if I were to see my ship on the loading screens hehe. I have had a few positive comments from other players on the look of my ship, so wanted to share this with you all
I wonder if I took the theme "too literally" this time ...
This is my Terran Task Force Starship Technologies variant of the Protonic Kool-Aid Down The Drain Cruiser build (the second build I did in the thread). Location of screenshot was in orbit around Kobali Prime, angling the camera away from the local star. Costume Parts are Windows 1, Yamaguchi Saucer and Pylons with the rest being Ambassador parts with the Terran Task Force Starship Technologies 4-piece set equipped (and no visuals overrides).

The upper left would be a great place for a logo, but I don't like to edit my screenshots.
