Umm ... the only thing overwatch (the game he mentioned) and WoW (the game you mentioned) have in common is they are both developed by blizzard. I've only seen a little footage but I believe overwatch is a third person shooter multi-player game.
That said, I regularly rotate between STO, WoW, and SWTOR as I get burned out on one. Thankfully though, AoY and Legion (wows new expansion) are separated by a couple months, so there won't be any competition for my time
Aaaah, I assumed Overwatch was a new WoW update
Sorry @aristocratsuprem I completely screwed that up. However, my main point stands - with a shooter even moreso as it's not even the same genre

If the story outline we can see on Tribble in the Mission Journal is complete regarding the TOS faction, there is not actually a need for Tier 2 to Tier 5 TOS ships.
If anyone is really regretting their purchase due to that, you can try to take it up with customer support. Since nothing has been delivered yet, I think a refund is not impossible.
But if you want a TOS look for the entire leveling process and engame, it seems the TOS pack is even more of a must-have since there won't be any free ships.
If your purchase depends on how much TOS stuff there actually will be, I think you should probably reall wait until close to release. As I understand, the packs pricing might increase at some point after that (and with warning time from Cryptic), so you're not really risking anything by waiting.

What I was getting at is that I'd rather spend the Summer leveling Reaper in Overwatch than regrind through the same old STO missions I had already done several times before in 2012. Cryptic needs to make this Anniversary opportunity truly count.

I was just letting Angrytarg know Overwatch =/= WoW, that's all, no worries
Given that there is only 8 missions in the 'past' and then we are shunted to the current time period (as it stands now on tribble) the progression ships are canon to the period where the character is operating without having any new ones. The only things people will be missing by not buying the pack is if they choose to rerun the starter mission in an 'old era' t2 -t6' ship as they will not have any. At some point though I would not be surprised if we got a holo-emitter ship device to overlay an old style in case we do get to go 'home' at some point.
They're running the update already on Tribble? Is it Fed only (as some have claimed) or can you roll a Klink or Rom for the respective TOS faction?
they are running PART of it already for lifers... and its not "as some have claimed" it is starfleet only as Cryptic told everyone it was. Do make an effort to read the official sources of info

Too many people hear Blizzard and just think WoW
Cool, so there is a new Star Craft expansion? I wasn't even done with the Protoss campaign yet!
Just kidding

Actually, they did release a new campaign of some kind for StarCraft recently, I think it's like typical DLC price since it's not a full blown expansion, focuses on Nova and the ghosts, haven't got around to playing it yet though.
I suppose the T5 Kumari and D'kyr would also qualify - as pre-Federation designs still active in the 26th century, they're presumably also around in the TOS era.
Not quite. The T5 Kumari and D'kyr are retrofits of the Enterprise ships. They might look the same as the 22nd Century ships, but they are packed full of 25th Century technology which disqualifies them from being a pre-Federation design. The Andorian Light Escort ship would qualify, but it is the rarest STO ship since it requires purchasing a $200 pack from Neverwinter.
Is the Andorian Light Escort ship still even available?

You forgot to call me a "Filthy Casual!" while you were at it.
I've had access to the Connie since pre-purchase Beta, but how would we get access to the 2-5 Tier ships of that era without the Temporal pack? Are the freebie ships also going to be 23rd Century for the special leveling arc?
I really wish they could split the OLD ships from the new temporal ones. I won't spend any money in those old fossils but I guess if I want the new temporal might be tempted...NOT

Enh, it's like buying one of the cross-faction bundles. If you plan to buy at least half of what is in the bundle you might as well buy the whole bundle. The discount is worth it.

I think so, but spending $200 for a Tier 1 ship seems completely idiotic. So if you are not playing or not planning to play Neverwinter or the other PWE games that are included in the PWE Games Gift Package, then there is no point in wasting your money. Although, if you are interested in purchasing the Hero of the North bundle for this ship, then check with Cryptic to make sure the ship is still available.
Here is the Neverwinter items included in this bundle and here is the items that are included in other PWE games. The Andorian Light Escort is not included in that list, but it is there.

you will doubtless find you will be able to buy the ships individually through the c-store once the expansion goes live as they did with other expansion packs, if they do you can see what price each ship you want is listed for and work out if I will be cheaper to buy the ships you want individually or go with the expansion pack after all, its just a case of wait and see.
with T6 ships typically costing around 3,000zen each if you wanted all of the 6 x T6 ships in the pack it would cost you 18,000 zen to buy them all compare this to the current expansion pack price of $129.99 to see if you would be just as wise to buy the whole thing.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
