It will also be really interesting to be able drop red alert as a player too.
OR just simply remove full impulse restriction in Red alert mode will be enough, at least for pets.
Edit: Just want to add, the speed for pets should always 3~5x faster than carrier. Even my fighters always lag behind really long distance EVEN they're full impulse. Pet's speed should scale with carrier. Or simply make them fastest thing possible.
