They have stated existing characters from all three factions will get story content in the new expansion... gecko has also said the 'Future Proof' arc is not done. Gecko has also stated flat out the TOS characters will end up with the rest of your characters in the current end game....
STO isn't canon, and neither are any of the books.

When they introduced the Romulans as a faction they didn't cut off the Federation or the Klingons. And we heard that TOS characters will integrate at some point with the rest of us and be able to participate in endgame stuff, so that means that we will continue to get content for all factions.

Well they didn't cut off Feds. We Original 18% weren't hadn't been given much to begin with. And then Al Rivera killed PVP.

Crybabies killed pvp. Crybabies begat NERFS, nerfs begat animosity towards devs that pander to crybabies that can't handle players that are skilled and pay attention to how best to craft their builds.
We the upcoming launch of AoT, Does this mean no more content/episodes for our existing characters?
Hey OP I would not worry about our current characters a bit. The new expansion with its past tense faction will be cute and all with a lot of players going for it at the start. Later on this faction’s players will make up the same minor percentage that currently are the Klingon and Romulan ones suffering from a lack of continuous support compared to the main fed faction.
Giving the experience with past expansions all we get will be:
TOS Faction:
- A dozen faction ships
- A dozen faction only story missions with lots of patrols inserted. Rest to make leveling curve will be the same missions we played through multiple times already.
- New doffs (perhaps)
- New playable species (perhaps even only 1 for live timers)
All factions:
- a hand full of missions added to the current arc linking the faction together (perhaps even only one)
- half a dozen new ships (perhaps even only from lock box/lobi for KDF/Roulan factions)
- New spec tree supported by the same end game contend we have already
- New reput system supported by 2 new queues (and perhaps a battle zone although I find that one highly unlikely)
I think that covers it. Count on the fact that after the release the TOS faction it will enjoy the same amount of faction specific content as the Klingon/Romulans got.
The release sounds like fun and I see myself going for it one way or the other but 3 months down the road it will be the same STO experience as usual with me playing ISA.

Yes, except that many of us will still be zipping around the galaxy in our delightful new "old" TOS Ships.
Especially the T-6 Connie.

Pfff, I intend to set DPS records with a torpedo build on a Daedalus.
But yea you are right. I found it fun back then when suddenly all those romulan ships turned up around ESD with LoR. I don’t mind getting admiral Quin’s working place funky at all with the upcoming release.

Are you sure PvP is dead i mean theres a lot of PvP that goes on in this forums, complaining about vape builds, x power is overpowered, someone must be hacking ect. Nope sounds to me like PvP is alive and thriving lol

PvP: it exists-with the same 25 people in private matches and the occasional German cruising Ker'rat looking for trollbait. as for the "PLenty" of threads in the PvP section-check the dates. Last serious discussion of game mechanics was last year.
since then, it's been hopeful "maybe this time" posts interspersed with 'general' conversations about stuff we were talking about last year that hasn't changed.
I'll challenge you to go back in the archive to 2013 or so-when there were real arguments, or to check on the accounts in the Opvp listing to see how many are actively playing. (not many)
In 2012, PvP was several thousand players strong, and the forum threads reflected it. Today, aside from snarking about the condition of it, almost no activity, and the same 'booster' cheerleaders with 1 or 2 posts intruding to proclaim how it's not dead. (Or some newguy from 2015 or so who's done most of his 281 posts in the last four months)
Often, never to be seen again.
Geko has killed the community, He and D'Angelo did a great job of it with Delta rising and the four months of uncounterable stacking disables you buy with real money, with the eager assistance of Borticus who couldn't be bothered to LOOK at the scoreboards for eight months to see the reported problem of KDF players simply not being listed at all, etc. etc. ad Nauseum.
the addition of outright "Buy it now" immunities pretty much put the nail in the coffin, or maybe it was the elimination of hard counters, or the granting of both simultaneously with emphasis on grinding 160 hours before you're not street-meat in a match, whatever you want to add, the sum total is there is no balance.
and without Balance, there can not be PvP, nor a PvP community, except for twinks who have mommy's credit card numbers memorized and permissive parents (and no job).
('cause only someone with money, and no job, can afford the grind now.)

And people wonder why we haven't had the Zombie Apocalypse yet...
The zombies came, and ran into a lack of food...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

nah they're too busy texting on their Iphones and starved
Actually, they came, and we were too busy texting on our Iphone and they starved....
The amount of stupid I see on this forum lately is making me a bit worried. We are suppose to be nerds here...you know the SMART ones...this does not bode well for the rest of humanity. Did you hear about the woman who grounded a flight because she thought the man next to her was writing in a "terrorist language"? The guy was doing was doing an algebra equation. Yeah...no zombie apocalypse for us...we haz no brains here anymore.
and people wonder why I advocate for a mass extinction of humanity

I predict we'll have something special for our regular characters for starting a TOS character like we did with the Delta Recruit event.

TOS characters will join the existing universe just like Delta Recruits.

All my forum PvP consists of calling people out on how to use 'et cetera.'
