Question about the Omega ground set. 2 piece set with what ever weapons or the 3 piece set? The reason I ask is I have so many weapons, lobi and rep. I have heard good things about the Omega Autocarbine at MK XIV during the Iconian campaign

I did all three sets items x 4 at epic (because i'm 'ocd' like that)... I dont have a lot of experiance in ground so i've just kept the 3 item set bonus.

Against the borg it probably shines but if i had the choice i would probably mix and match the weapons... as has been mentioned previously the lobi herald staff rocks and probably one of the best ground weapons so maybe the 2 piece set with whatever floats your boat

So i got the Omega shield on my main, however what shield would you choose...
Although i have the Omega i was considering the new Na'khul one.

So which do you regard as better?

For the longest time I was using the Romulan Imperial Navy Combat Armor you get form the first Iconian mission Uneasy Allies. I completed the Na’kuhl Temporal Operative Set from the mission The Temporal Front its what Im using now. I have two of the Omega 2 piece set (Armor & Shields) my main two boff's are using Lobi weapons. My other 2 boff's are using a 2 piece set from the Iconian Resistance Reputation System. None have been upgraded yet. Thats why this topic is bookmarked.

Sigh, may have to bit the bullet and get a lobi staff for each boff, would cost 200 lobi plus upgrade costs.

Think I choose the best set out of them all, the Omega set is a beast and my boffs tear through ground now.

What's the two piece iconian like then? never really thought about that set.

So - I see a lot of praise for the Omega ground set - which is a SOLID ground set, to be sure, particularly if you do a bunch of Borg ground STFs...however, the Nakul ground set is A) Free and B) Offers a slightly higher combo of CritH/CritD at the expense of a measly 5% buff to energy weapons, which used Cryptic Math - so like the equivalent of a [Dmg] mod....which is TRIBBLE. (Editors Note: this requires a 2-pc combo whereas with MACO you get this with the armor alone...)

Also - to the above player that uses the Rom Navy set - well done. The 2-pc (Kit/Shield) is an excellent choice when paired with the MACO or choice of Fleet armors AND if you are using Plasma Weapons.

I still think Nukka Shield is best shield, followed by Rom Navy, Fleet Res A/B [Adapt] and then Nakul. Just my opinion though.

The Na'kuhl shield would be fantastic if it wasn't bugged. It would be a great shield for BoFFs to keep them alive.

Disappointed to see that the issue isn't even mentioned in this weeks patch notes.

    Time to file my findings..
Got the Lobi Herald Heavy Combat Armor for me, with my Romulan Shields and kit and the Fluidic Antiproton Wrist Lance just at Mk XIV Very Rare. I see the difference big time on Kobali Prime. My 2 Boff's tested both the Omega Force Armor/Shields and the Na'kuhi Armor/Shields at Mk XII. Both are using a Advanced Herald AP Beam Projector at Mk XIV. Everything is Very Rare still. Both Advanced Herald AP Beam Projector's and the Fluidic Antiproton Wrist Lance are worth the 50 lobi for sure. I wish the Herald Heavy Combat Armor didn't cost so much but if you buy any Lobi Armor, its the one to get right now. If you dont have the Lobi (lol) The Mega Force Armor/Shields are coming in 1st for my two Boff's with my other 2 Away Team Boff's getting the Na'kuhi Armor/Shields. I'm getting more Crit Chance/Severity from the 2 peice Omega. Redid both the Time and Time/The Temporal Front missions at Adv., walk in the park and Im not even at Rare/Epic yet in the ground gear.

Brilliant, i agree that the lobi Herald armour/staff and the wrist lance are some of the best items around.

Although all my boffs have epic Omega full sets i'm still debating getting each of them the herald staff..... but its 200 lobi for all 4 of them.... Sigh!!

But its only money eh!! lol

Wait for the inevitable 20% (or more) Lobi Sale on Ground Equipment.

I keep forgetting they do that. Thanks.

Side note, I seem to be seeing a lot more Advanced Herald AP Beam Projector's at DS9.

They are a pretty potent weapon. I have that to Epic but I also have the Lockbox version of the Staff to XIV UR but it does not seem to be in the same league as the Advanced for damage and effect.

If you have the Herald Heavy armor for all of your BOFFs you do not need to go for a 2-set bonus that involves CritH and CritD. The reason for this is that this armor has so much of it by default that it generally negates such bonuses provided by let's say a full Omega set or even two Omega sets. Also, having that armor also allows you to wield any weapon you want, giving yourself or your BOFF a multirole which you can take full advantage of. You do not have to feel that the Omega Auto Carbine is lacking in both range and AOE spray (BOFFs cannot take advantage of the targeting arc). For this reason the Advanced Herald staff is better because it is long range, chains on primary and requires no careful position (perfect for BOFFs), and its primary fire will knock down anything.

So the best thing to do for BOFFs is to get the Herald Heavy armor for the aforementioned reasons, and then pick any weapons and shields of your choosing. If you cannot afford the Herald staff then two strong contenders are the Jemhadar minigun (AOE on primary fire = shreds any group) and also the Romulan Plasma Widebeam Rifle (long range vs minigun / wider arc and 5 targets vs split rifle).

If it is dodge you like then two shields that provide this is the Omega and Nukara Shattering Harmonics shield. Both shields are excellent but the Shattering Harmonics shield may have an edge because it more defensive in nature. Anotther strong shield contender is the Iconian Resistance shield. There is also the Delta shield. It depends on if you want more defensive or slightly more offensive capabilities from the shield alone.

There are a lot of combinations you can do... but it requires the Herald Heavy armor.

Yeah and at 200 lobi per armour it can get expensive, think i'll stick to 2 set Omega with the lobi staff for my boffs.

What is the difference between the Advanced staff and the lobi staff? Havent really looked into it.

    They are the same
    Advanced/Lobi Staff
Other Staffs from Lock box. <--You get these also from the Exchange
[Herald Antiproton High Density Beam Projector]
    [Herald Antiproton Split Beam Projector]
    [Herald Antiproton Stun Beam Projector]

The major difference between the Advanced Herald Projector and the lockbox staves is that the latter conform to your standard weapon types. The Lobi weapon is nothing like the lockbox weapons. It primary fire chains and arcs and there are not many weapons that cause AOE on primary firing mode, unless we talk the Jemhadar minigun (also a lobi weapon). The Advanced staff's secondary fire is also unique. It's like a blast assault rifle. It fires a large bolt that explodes and knocks targets down.

The lockbox weapons are like your standard split beam rifles, high intensity and stun beam weapons. They offer no real advantage over the existing weapons other than its proc and beam color. If it stands between the regular lockbox staves and anything non-lobi, then I would highly recommend the unique (but easy to acquire) Romulan Plasma wide beam. It's like your wide beam pistol but instead of 25 meter range it has 35 meters, and instead of 3 targets (of split rifle) it can hit 5 targets. It has a wider arc of 35 degrees as opposed to 25. In essence, it is a split rifle on nitros.

So if you cannot afford the Advanced Herald staff or the Jemhadar minigun then at least get the Romulan plasma wide beam rifle. You can either buy it from the exchange, or get it from the flotilla if you are a romulan character. And if not you can party up with a romulan player and have him or her spawn you down there. You can also find the Plasma Piercing rifle, Long Range Minigun and the unique Plasma Assault (fueled with heavy charge) weapons there.

Ah thank you, thought there was another staff i was missing. So just going to wait now for a lobi discount and another upgrade weekend. Then buy 4 x lobi staffs.

    :)

Thanks for all the help guys.
