Embassy Threat Consoles revamp coming?

I noticed one thing about the skill revamp that is kind of counter productive if you run the Embassy console to REDUCE Threat. It seems that even with the threat toggled off your ship still generates far more threat then ever to the point where the epic lvl 14 threat reduction embassy console is rendered useless. I don't fly tanks or dps sponges so a threat increase is a bad thing for my Raptors and Escorts that depend on being able to close and beat the hell out of thier prey. This is why I got and leveled up the embassy consoles in the first place to reduce my threat. So is there any rework coming to fix the apparent glitch in threat that renders them useless?

I think that all of the available +/- threat stuff is just there to „help“ a team to direct threat distribution besides plain DPS. Nevertheless DPS and proximity to critters still factors in.

I did a lot of runs with my 9 different toons (also emitting different amounts of threat) in partial pre-mades where I as well as my friends got a pretty solid picture.

The stuff works as far as I can tell. –Threat on one of my 130K escorts gives a 80k tanking buddy of mine a pretty easy time to grab aggro when he utilizes + threatening while giving me a hell of a time when he suddenly decides to select – threating stuff.

Of course the bigger the DPS gab between you and your team is the +/-threat mechanic will have a harder time to surface. Good examples are my sci toons there which use sci attacks on different targets simultaneously in addition to fire at will. Yea, 80k in a bad pug still makes – threat consoles look close useless there.

I think it should be a standard modifier that works when your threat is off or on the same way the skill unlock does. So just one type of threat console would then exist.

The problem is when everyone is running -Th, then aggro will still be evenly distributed. Same goes for +Th runners.

Team composition and individual DPS will factor heavily here no matter what you do to these consoles.

-Th consoles have always been questionable to begin with: as soon as you do *some* DPS, its effect pretty much gets negated anyway. And Threat is based, in large, on proximity too (or used to be, at least). Only +Th really adds something to the game.

Yes it's based on a mix of DPS, healing and proximity. You probably only notice +Th more because almost everyone runs -Th anyway.

Earlier I had a run where 3 of us happened to be flying threat builds. The ending attacks-in stats were like we all had the usual -Th setups. Likewise, when I first shifted my Sci ships to R&D consoles, I got a ton more threat. My torp boats also get a lot of threat because I don't use -Th consoles.

It's all dependent on whether you use the "Threatening stance" toggle- one of the selectable skills gives you the choice of either +100% threat generation when TS is active, or -100% when it's not. Unless you're actively going for a tanking role, you don't want to be drawing any more aggro than you have to.

Threatening stance ties into the Strategist tree very well. When on +threat you get defensive buffs and cooldown reductions, -threat gives you offensive buffs.
