Whoever designed them clearly does not have the first clue of what a Red Alert is.
This is nothing more than a glorified queue.
It's absolutely nothing like a true Red Alert and pretty much set up like any other random Queue. When a Red Alert pop's I want to jump right into the action... not wait around for a team before I can begin.

I have to agree with the OP. The new Red Alert is build up like a PvE Queue, you even queue for it, but you need to be there to do it. I find it annoying that your bridge officers constantly ask you to join it when it pops up wich stops your ship if you fly around. I also dont see the point of doing it. You get a normal Queue reward for the mission and there dont seem to be any Advanced or Elite modes available. For players who can run Advanced Queues there is no reason to do the new Red Alert as the rewards are inferior and the low difficulty make it boring anyway.

Another source of Iconian Marks right now. That is enough incentive right now I think, especially with the lack of an Iconian Battlezone to suppliment people's marks.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

It's a good mission. Sure its easy, but then everything in STO is. At least it isn't timed like a lot of recent queues.
Unfortunately the starting mechanism is like they took the worst aspects of alerts and queues and put them together for one big annoyance-fest. And there isn't any reason to run them over easier-to-start content. I can't see these lasting once the novelty wears off.
They don't even offer the generous amount of XP that makes Red Alerts favorites for leveling up ships. =/

I do hope that the briefing will be removed eventually. Waiting and sitting around for almost a full minute becomes rather pointless after a while. I get why it's there now though.
It is essentially is set up like a normal queue except you have to be in sector to do them. Personally, I would rather have it be a normal queue so I could hang out in ESD doing other things and queue up like normal. It is what it is,
1) if the devs wanted to make a queue, that's fine. That's their prerogative.
2) however, they shouldn't call a queue a "red alert", as that is misleading.
So yeah.
You have a point. Which is probably why they'll just delete the Borg Red Alerts entirely because they aren't up to the standard of quality the Na'Khul Red Alerts have.

I don't. Putting aside the fact this is a simple run-and-gun mission with zero instruction needed in the first place, expecting people to not only read the briefing but to actually learn how to play a mission in 60 seconds from a short in-character explanation is as just absurd. For the few queues that genuinely require instruction, those instructions should be available outside the mission (and reading them should be required before the player is allowed to queue up).
The "briefing" pause is only needed in something like CCA that high-powered players can finish so fast that others will barely be out of the loading screen when its all over. Guess what mission doesn't have one.
Maybe this is their test bed for revamping the queues. Make everything in the queue a Red Alert that shows up randomly.
Mine Trap Red Alert might actually get people playing that again.
I sure hope not. Like I said it has all the downsides of alerts and queues put together. Making it highly inconvenient to join a queue will most certainly not get players to play them more.

There is no quality difference. They are basically the same mission. Kill a few groups of enemy followed by a dreadnought, in the middle of nowhere. Except in the Na'kuhl version the enemy groups appear one at a time whereas in the Borg version they are all there from the beginning. And of course the stupid queue wait that will inevitably kill off the Na'kuhl version.
...and since when did a Red Alert take 1st priority over everything else upon login? Every few minutes, I'm asked if I want to investigate the Na'kuhl incursion! Stuff it, already...

They also did say that this was available for a 'limited time' only.

It is a Red Alert guys. It pops up randomly (and, granted, annoyingly but I assume that will be changed). The fact that you need to wait for 5 people to join it, only means that it has the same team requirements as most of the queues have.
The actual mission and it's random availability still make it a Red Alert.
I did it once and found it to be ok. Great source of marks for those who need them. I hope they remove the auto hail every time I go to sector space. Its annoying.

I have to agree with my feline friend here. Knowing you're not going to jump into an almost finished or already complete instance is a plus.

But then, I was also expecting it to pop up randomly, like tge ith Red Alerts. *shrugs*

This right here ^^^
I got so sick of going to a Dead Alert , where everything was dead before i got there i stopped doing them.

HOWEVER, it would be nice if it would, at the very least, stop bugging me with that popup while the mission is on cooldown
