is it because lots of people went so hard with BFAW and now realize it is in danger of not being top dps? I don't get that
Even if faw was removed, we would all still have the same toolkit to play with. Builds would change, good pilots would stay the same. Forum warriors would then move on to wanting the next thing nefed after realizing that nerfing faw did not magically make them a better player.
I was told to use BFAW only for top numbers but I really want to do cannons they look more fun to me, I already started to switch. I don't understand it I guess why ppl complain about so called nerfs like this lol

Don't listen to people that tell you that you have to use FAW for good DPS, they're wrong.
Plenty of people pull high DPS numbers with Cannons as well as Torpedo Boats. Cannon style takes a little more skill to pull off, but it's still not hard. If you want to do cannons, then go with cannons. Cannons should get a nice little boost once the new skill system goes live as well, there are skills that are currently unavailable that will really help cannon users.
There will always be people that will say something should be nerfed, just ignore them. It's a tired topic that's been debated to death. Play what you want, you can excel with whatever weapon type you wish. You should always play what you want over what others tell you is 'right' or 'wrong.'

I can quiet assure you that Cannons grand you a much more fun game experience than beams do. Each engagement will be much more intense. Now I can’t say how far behind cannons really are DPS related but I can assure you that on my tac cannon build I don’t have any problems to achieve ISA DPS in the 90k+ reach multiple times a week and that in pug runs. This is more than enough to carry matches in bad teams while still being able to compete with FAW spammers in good teams.
When it comes to gear I found my cannon builds to be very similar to beam boats. There are just a few exceptions worth considering.
- Cannon scatter Volley is the Boff power to go by (use 2 copies). Leave Rapid fire for PvP.
- Tier 6 Defiant Trait: If you love cannons go get it! It enables you to have cannon scatter volley up almost continuously. That’s something beam users can only dream of.
- Gravity well: When your arc is limited simply force as many critters into it as you can.
- Attack Patterns: Bringing them in sync with cannon scatter volley often means you need 2 AP cd doffs while on beams 1 is suffice.
- Park and shoot play style: Every trait that supports this should be used (e.g. Anchored, Point blank shot) while other traits that support attacks under movements can more easily be dropped.

This is going to be awesome when 11.5 goes live. From my testing, cannons are getting a huge buff since drop off will not be an issue. All they need to fix now is the CrtD issue with DHCs.

DHCs don't get their innate CrtD when using CRF or CSV.
what about other cannons like normal or turrets do they get critd bonus?
