I used to do that in an old vo'quv without any of that fancy turnin' nonsense! You younguns these days!
Seriously I'd recommend emergency power to engines, evasive manoeuvers, going at half throttle for turns, and putting a smidge more power to your engines to help get through this slalom of killy goodness.
Once you realize there are other settings than full throttle it's not too bad.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
I really like this map, much more than mirror or crystaline for sure. Thinking about this concept, cryptic could use some of the older STFs, like breaking the planet ect, which hardly ever pop up, and make events for those!!

I think that's the plan. They said some of the PvEs they dropped a while ago would make a comback somehow, and looks like this is the way. I like it!
Reward isn't up my alley this time, but I'll run it again just for fun a couple times anyways.

The travel time on cannons and torps is a killer on this map.
I'm used to my Corvette torp boat flying faster then its torps on normal maps so I don't even bother using it on the Breach where you fly faster than cannon projectiles and are lucky to get one volley off before flying past the target. Meanwhile BFAW boats with insta-hit beams melt every hardpoint on the map without having to do anything other than fly in a straight line.
This is my Risian Corvette. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

In this vein, they should make Starbase Fleet Defense an event! (Otherwise you pretty much never get to run it any more, as it's a 20-person queue).

Well although I can understand your pain for this part of the map, I am sure that you can make use of your build later on, right? Also, considering that there is a timer to begin with, those hardpoints are build to be dealt with rather quickly - and obiously, BFAW is the better option here.
Thinking about knifes & gunfights, preparation & adaptation and what not...
"Wow, Beam Fire At Will is a real problem in the game. It's really leading to build stagnation and does little to help foster diversity in playstyle."
"I know, let's revamp a queue that nobody played and make it ideal for Beam Fire At Will!"
"Brilliant!"
You almost wind up wondering if the devs only play BFAW boats. Now pardon me while I remove my tinfoil...
One of the many Tellarite Goddesses of Beauty!

The Breach is their best space queue. You actually have to do more than sit in two/three places and FAW.
Also, actual participation means the mission gets done faster. Unlike mirror invasion, where your whole team can sit out the first part and it only effects the marks rewarded.
As for revamping the trench segment... Lets be honest, it was probably too hard for STO's VERY casual playerbase. This way one player can carry them through it all in a short amount of time.
It really is the best event ever. Or at least one of the best
I really like being able to fight while flying at high speed. Reminds me of the Sacrifice of Angels battle in DS9. It makes this mission, together with the attack run on the Planet Killer in Surface Tension some of the best battle content in the game
Wish there were more instances where we have these speed effects.

It's always been my opinion that Yes, the devs play STO. They're just really bad at the game and make decisions based on the perspective of a really bad player.
I am enjoying this event so far. It's something different, and gets allot of people playing this map again. The only downside for me personally is the time it takes to do it on several toons. Admittedly thats my choice and I'll deal with it. But so far I am having fun, especially in my Astika. Finished my tenth run (missed two days at the beginning), ask me again when I've finished all 70 of my runs lol!
"If this will be our end, then I will have them make SUCH an end as to be worthy of rememberance! Out of torpedos you say?! Find me the ferengi!".
The map might be good, but it's a TRIBBLE event map. Takes between 20 and 30 minutes. TRIBBLE that.
Wow you play with some really bad pugs, never taken me more than 5 to 10 minutes for the mission, another player was just talking about soloing it in chat and said that took him 20 minutes. Are you soloing it? Even Mirror Invasion doesn't take that long.
Anyone that says it takes 5 to 10 minutes is lying. Just flying through the stupid ship takes that long.

Maybe he and his team keep shooting Voth instead of closing the hangar doors xD
Or it's because Voth cannot be as easily killed as Borg.
But of course it's easier to claim that it's the map that is the problem...

BFAW Scimitars seem to wreck the place without ever having to turn. Have you tried that?

FAW = Fire And Win. :P

Looking forward to it /nostalgia

Bort knows the game in and out mechanics wise. And Branflakes was once a noted PvP'er. (Its too bad we lost him)
Now as for other Devs? Who knows.
Makes me wonder what kind of build @tacofangs uses...
LoL

I'd pay zen to see that. Or how about a global event; each tier reveals another dev's builds.
I'm pretty sure Iconian's has it totally right.
