I have two issues right now with DemoRecord, which are making it difficult to use.
First, I've found that while I'm able to record a demo without a problem, the Gameclient executable will crash immediately into the "Cryptic" splash screen when I try playback. So far, I think I've traced this back to the fact that I have STO installed to both ARC and Steam. Frankly the only reason I have it installed to Steam is because I needed it to apply a Steam card to a Zen purchase. Otherwise I really only launch through ARC. I've tried deleting the Steam game files, but that didn't help. I have managed to work around it by recording my demos and then specifically playing them back through the Steam location GameClient, but I'd rather not. If anybody has seen a similar issue, and knows a good fix, let me know. Otherwise, I suppose I'm looking at completely purging and reinstalling STO from my system, using only ARC or Steam exclusively.
Second, has anybody got a list of specific VFX settings to disable while DemoRecording to give the cleaner look to game play? I've seen a few reddit threads or blogs mention it, but no real checklists per se. Any guidance there is much appreciated.
Thanks!

Im not sure what you mean by "clean" but if you mean make it look more like a cinematic and not from a game with skill effects like Attack Patters constantly popping up then sorry im not sure. I've also been wanting an option to disable those. The only thing I can tell you is to disable the directional shield FX in the "basic" tab for the in-game options.

Good thoughts, thank you. Yeah, I'm looking for that more cinematic look. I've got the shield FX disabled, but it's still so dirty with all of the other FX.

Do you also run both Steam and ARC? I'm about certain it has something to do with the game paths and a mix-up between Steam/Arc locations. Try changing the game location path in DemoLauncher to be whichever Steam/Arc location it's NOT using right now. That seems to work for me, but I have to always copy my Demo's into the Steam path and make sure my Steam install is updated even though I don't usually play it.
