I apologize for this to sound dumb. But why do we have a level 60 level cap with skills only going to level 50. apart from specializations where's the benefit / point of going to level 60 if skills stop and end at level 50?.
with a level 60 system would it not be more prudent in this revamp to increase the skill cap from 46 space , to 48 space reflecting level 55 and 60 gains. with 10 ground going to 12 ground for same reasons ?. This shouldn't be that terribly game breaking. and leaves a player feeling a bit more rewarded for achieving max level.
Because the level cap has changed over time, and may change again in the future?
Skills have always stopped growing at 50 in STO. The revamp is changing nothing on that front. You want to feel stronger on the ground from 51-60? Load up commando (or ground effects from Command and Intel). Prefer space? Command, Intel, or Pilot.
Or maybe they just like the comedy that is watching a 1,001 ways players wheedle for a straight up buff ("aww, come on. One, just 1 more point. And then another, and maybe 2 more...") when next to no one has spent even a full day playing with the buffs we've already gotten in this change over.

This is a good question. Even if the level cap does get increased in the future different skills could be added for that rank level.

I must admit, the more I examine the new skill tree, the better it looks. And I really like that you've brought cannons back to parity and viability.
