Looking for a ship, how are the Voth and Vaadwaur Cruisers?

I'm a Federation Captain (ok a Fleet Admiral rank, though don't we all just want to be a Captain), and I'm looking at going for a new ship something that is non-Federation style.

Now I'd prefer a science vessel (since I'm a science officer, and you gotta love the shield boost on them). Though I was looking at the Voth Bulwark Dreadnought Cruiser or the Vaadwaur Astika Heavy Battlecruisers.

Does anyone have them and what are some of your opinions on
A) How it handles in battle, turn rate and shields?
B) and some features that make the classes original?

I mean if you would prefer a science ship why not go with the new Krenim one, or even the temporal science ship? (yes technically fed but its design is different from the typical)

The Astika is quite a serviceable ship with basically the best weapon layout. Even the console is quite usable. Best of all, the trait is good enough that many buy the ship just for it. Even if at some point in the future, you decided to change ship, you'd still have the top tier trait to bring to your new ship. Be aware though, that the Astika's science seating is rather poor.

I wouldn't advise the Bulwark as a good long-term buying decision though. It isn't tier 6, so it's missing 1 boff power, and does not come with any trait.

Thanks, I actually have the Krenim ship, it's ok though compared to the Sryer in my opinion, it's ianbility carry cannons so it lacks power, the load outs are varied and it has an extra tactical slot, though it doesn't compinsate with the lose of a tactical officer. It's best as a support or if you have very rare weapons and a turn rate booster.

Thanks "eldritchx;12855772" I'll look at that one. I like serviceable, and I'll see about working with the science limit. How many science consoles slotsdoes it have?

No its not, the bastion came from the lockbox, the palisade is in the Lobi store and the bulwark is the rarest and most expensive ship in the game.

I have the Astika on all 3 of my mains. The trait is must have if you are a Tac using FAW. However, the meta is changing a bit so going forward you may not have to have it. My thought on the Astika: On paper a great ship. In reality I could never really use it. It is slow and handles like a Buick. I like the 5:3 weapons load out. I just think that there are better options. So if you are going for the trait definitely get it. If you are going to fly it better options. Here are some thoughts on some non-Fed type ships.

    1. Imperium: Nimble. 5:3 Weapons. 5 Tac Consoles, Intelligence seating. 3 Sci ConsolesThis thing is a beast. Fun to fly and can bring Dps and some decent flexibility if you want to do some science. But this monster is a tac ship.
    2. Nandi: Nimble 4:4 Weapons 5 Tac Consoles and 4 Sci Consoles. Bridge has bank, mail, dabo table. I can't seem to get my main out of this ship even though the Imperium on paper is better. This ship is a faw monster and you can do some science type stuff with it. Downside is that it was only available in the summer event.
    3. Paradox: I have not played this ship yet but people are raving that it is a great Science Ship.

Paradox is a monster, I can maker her dance really well to take maximum advantage of a torpedo boat layout.

Thanks "amaresh1;12856715" I'll look into these ships, Ya I've just started to hear the Paradox. I have to admit that the inability to get lobi crystal from other then Lock boxes will make it difficult.

A monster, sounds good "samt1996;12856730", can the Paradox equip cannons?

Yes, it's a given for the dreadnought class.

Only 2 Sci Consoles. It does have a Lt Universal seat so you can have up to 4 Sci BOff powers, but you'll never equip things like Grav Well on that ship, not high enough seating...

    I'm curious, what's with the "'captainjstorm;12863650'" stuff?

great reference link for checking out any playable ships in game -

    sto.gamepedia.com/Category:Playable_starships

and as a sci ship, even at T5-U, i think this is the dogs dangly bits, and in the lobi store  -

can't seem to get my Federation Sci out of it.. 5 sci console slots, and a fantastically versatile seating arrangement. i also went ahead and grabbed the Bastion flight deck cruiser too (lockbox ship, still see them on the exchange) as the immunity console is awesome and works very well with the aceton console on the palisade, also the 2 set bonus is the voth cloak, that purr it makes when you engage it....
