I wonder how no one haven't addressed this issue already. I'm hoping something will change with today's maintenance, but somehow I doubt it. One way or another if it stays this way I don't think I'll be bother to play a game as getting CTDs every 10 minutes get very annoying very fast and you lose any will you had for playing the game.

My game crashes multiple times per day. I'm not sure why it crashes but I did just update my drivers last night to the newest 16.1.1 drivers for AMD. Hopefully this will help with the issue and I suggest the first thing anyone should do is update there videocard drivers. You shoud be able to find updated drivers for your card but if you can't or do not know how to install them or anything along those lines, please take advantage of the STO forums. In must cases they can walk you through what to do to update your drivers.
Yep, Mine has been crashing almost hourly since the Anniversary update. There tends to be no rhyme or reason to the crashes, I have had them at times when the game is doing a lot of graphics like a complex battle, but I have also had them on the Exchange and ESD or when docking at the Fleet Dilithium Mine.

The other thing to remember is to do a CLEAN Update as well...
Make sure all the old drivers for your card are completely erased before installing the new ones.
Every time I've forgotten to do this Windows can't make up it's mind which to use and I have problems with my Nvidia card.

Ok..Time to add my 2 cents.
I would pay someone to HAVE rubber banding instead of the RANDOM crashes. If rubber banding is all you have, then your playing a great game. For those of us who have these crashes to desktop, we get the SHAFT !
Or we get, "oh the fix is noted and were working on it" speech.
Or.. (I like this one the best) "It's your machine not our game" speech..
I wouldn't say it's your machine, but in my personal experience with STO for the last six years, the majority of my problems have been with my connection to the PWE/Cryptic Servers.
And on more than one occasion, it's been the Cogent Boston connection that has caused the most grief.
(something that Cryptic is aware of and supposedly has been trying to improve)
But, I've also found many times that the particular address that Time/Warner has assigned to my computer is the culprit.
That's why I suggest to folks that they should turn off/unplug their modem for 15 to 20 minutes and then reconnect to attempt to get a new address to connect through to the games servers.
This isn't a cure-all by any means, but it's something to try and it usually works for me.

I have to launch it in safe mode for maybe an hour's gaming and guess what it still crashes randomly

I've been following up on my Support ticket for this issue; the last round I was told my graphics driver was out of date. I installed the update yesterday, and the crashes started happening MORE often, and in places where they had not occurred before... I expect the Anniversary event will be over before the crashes are fixed, and then the problem will magically disappear, along with the event.

Lol! This post made my day. It is exactly what I'm thinking. I would rather have rubber banding and lags ten times more than those annoying crashes to desktop every freaking 10 minutes now. I would even be well with CTDs ones or twice per day, but this what we are having is insane. I refuse to play game with that kind of problem.
