Kobali Ground. Biggest load of garbage

Couldn't be more frustrating. Enemies spawn instantly so you can't move. surrounded by 50 guys and I'm supposed to survive? Are you guys at Cryptic insane? Seriously do you know what the word FUN means? I doubt it. You definately know what FRUSTRATION means.

Well, unless things have changed, I never had a problem there. Vaadwaur troops do have different strategies than most ground mobs, maybe you just need to adapt?

I used to go to it daily on all 5 toons, best when someone else is doing a mission as well so you can support each other but never had a problem going solo. Ever?
Edit: Still my fav ground battle zone to this day.

Strategy is very important there...both for you and for understanding how the Vaadwaur act. They have smarter AI than normal. They WILL purposely seek ways to flank you and if a tech officer starts protecting someone or a shield probe is launched, you are wasting fire if you don't watch and switch targets ASAP. They also crouch to make it harder for you to damage them. Also be careful with how much aggro you draw.

Well, the openers rather immature and confrontational attitude aside, there is a spot in the kobali mission chain where you are supposed to interact with 4 consoles before blowing up the Chemicals which frequently bugs out on me and does spawn at 1-2 dozen of Vaadvaur, including the nasty ones.
I presume the script somehow believes there is a larger group of players around (Maybe there even is and they just don't kill anything) and tries to adjust the difficulty accordingly.
It's easy to avoid unless you run the last mission, but really annoying if you need to do it for your daily reward.

I've done it solo many times, your 100% correct about the Vaadvaur, but it is about about Strategy, what skills you have and your two away team, I do it as a Tac, Eng, and Sci. On each I bring Engineers, skill them up and use their skills as well as yours.

OP, Should you need help all you need to do is ask in the zone chat, most likely someone like myself can come and help you.

Get the Kits from the Winter Event as well, they rock, Also get some from the Exchange based on you trait. Please do post more about yourself and team, Get the full Rom Kit, Body and Shields from the first Iconian War Arc mission, Uneasy Allies if you can, all my toons use it.

You probably need better gear. I do it on my tac with a Fed Klink tac boff and betazoid sci healer.

It can be a tough, unforgiving map if you grab a lot of aggro. But its worth completing the story missions to unlock the last 2 so you can pick up iconic and delta marks and 2 of each elite marks everyday.

Also check your map to see if any other players are in another instance. These missions are about technique. Don't try to DPS your way thru it. My Boffs I bring along are fine in cheap gear off the exchange. Post your stats and we can help.

OP, you're probably used to story missions where you can charge straight ahead without thinking. On these maps you need to move more carefully and keep moving, but not try fighting 2-3 groups at once.

It's all about aggro on Kobali Prime. Or if you're a tac, stealth module will be your best friend. My one tac that uses stealth module almost never fired a shot on Kobali Prime outside of the missions where fighting is a requirement.

Sorry your having issues there. But you have to rethink your way of fighting in there.

I love that Battleground. No issues what so ever in there, unless I aggro too many. Which does happen on occasion. I would love if they do more battlegrounds like this!

Fleet plasma grenade can be your friend too. When buffed it can one shot a half dozen or so.

More and more often I'm seeing a significant group camping out where the Overseer spawns, apparently waiting for people to go through the rest of that open mission while they themselves take little effort. This is causing larger spawns from the transporters which head up to the initial four consoles.

Why they're doing it, I have no idea. It's even caused completion errors for me -- ie, I do all the objectives, get the reward, but the wrapper mission doesn't complete unless I do it a second or third time. Maybe it's a way to farm Marks / dil with relatively little input. If it causes you trouble, just move to a different Kobali instance.

l2play kobali bz is the best ground area, you have to do more than drool and mash space bars

My issue is I kill some Kobali and before I can move, Kobali from nearby run over and I have to deal with themm then fresh Kobali beam in and it starts over.

It sounds like you're staying in the same spot too long.

There are some area's where you can get zerged easily. Once you know those situations, use the terrain, so they cannot flank you. Put your boffs safe in a tight spot and pull them in.

Another thing is, near the last compound, Vaadwaur can spawn like madness. I think it is a glitch. Perhaps some players activate the mission in Kobali town, but do not engage it.

I move but my doffs dont always follow. I can't do it solo. I have Target optics, Ambush, Plasma grenade, Polaron Bombardment and Security team 3. 1 ENG and my Jemhadar DOFF since he can shroud and revive. It's easier with my more advanced toons. This is a new toon about 7 days old, rank 55 KDF tac.

The only place where the spawns are very high and are close to each other is in the trenches. For a single player you just have to be aware of that. Everywhere else is a cake walk.

The only way I ever managed to be surrounded by more than 10 enemies there was by running through entire hordes of Vaadwaur because I had to reach a certain point of the map...

Edit: and that was still my own choice btw.

My problem with that map is that you get so little marks .. Which is a pity I wish otherwise.

To be honest, I tend to leave my Boffs behind. They'll often aggro the wrong enemies at the wrong time. Perhaps that might work? In combination with advice given by others here of course: don't let them flank you.

Vaadwaur tend to die very easily (a few pulsewave shots are usually enough) so you could try using more defensive traits and kit abilities and get the motivation module. If you're not using a set yet, I'd recommend you get one. The bonuses can make an important difference. MACO has an extra hypo, that, combined with tactical initiative has a 22 second cooldown. Adapted MACO will give a very useful shield bonus.

I haven't tried the Iconian or Delta sets but you may want to check those out.

Good point. Make sure none of your boffs have a sniper rifle. I was on Nimbus 3 with one alt and the boff with sniper rifle kept firing at distant groups of the scorpions to bring them to me. Thanks boff. Now give me that sniper rifle. Here's a pistol.

My worst experiences on Kobali Prime were when the transporter glitched and my boffs stayed in the city while I went ahead to the forward base. And that one time I found something like 20 Vaadwaur spawning every minute at the consoles in the final mission. Otherwise, it's two of the easiest elite marks you'll ever earn.

Like everyone else says, the zone is manageable if you play smart. Move carefully, try not to draw aggro from more than one group at a time, and don't stay still for too long. Vaadwaur can and will spawn on top of you while you're trying to do an objective and there's nothing like being surrounded by a full base garrison to send you back to a spawn point. Choose powers with short activation times since the buggers move a lot and grenades, mortars, and mines don't deal too well with that. Prioritize any enemy with Tech in its description, along with any drones.

Usually I use rapid high powered rifles. Like they Dyson gun, Full Autos, Borg Arm, Maco Battle rifle, Omega, etc. Something that has range, and can really nail them.
