Leechers in Cones of Conduct.. WTF

gradiigradii Member Posts: 2,824 Arc User
How can anyone be such an animal as to leech in Cones of Conduct? It's not like it requires even a fraction of the effort of the normal game content. What the hell do people play games for if all they do is sit and do nothing while other people carry them?

Why don't the leechers just stay in bed and save us the trouble.

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

That would be trolls, probably the only thing worse. Of course, leeching can be used as a form of trolling.

If players played to win all objectives and such the leeching and trolling would end. I can see why they do it also, why try to do better when other don't even attempt to do better. look at the current PVE missions half the team doesn't care and the other half doesn't even try, you may get that one or two players in a week on PVE that try to do better each time but rare. So before you cry and complain about others, make your character and your play support for the team better and adopt a a winning attitude to get ALL OBJECTIVES. I have seen teams lose the Cones of Conduct mission simply cause they didn't care to even try and get the objectives just get what they can and move to the next mission.

Not sure what you're talking about theres only one "objective" in cones of conduct, and that's to keep the snowconian in the fight well enough to defeat the snow overlord with as many houses intact as possible.

I'm talking about idiots who sit there doing NOTHING and not trying at all.

What's the difference between some dude standing around doing nothing in the CoC area, or some dude standing around doing nothing somewhere else?

The same p;players that do the PVE s are the same ones your dealing with now.

Then I'm not sure what point you're trying to make with your post. I'm not the one at fault here, I actually play the events, make an effort in content, I get the syrup and ice and feed it to the snowconian in cones of conduct, shoot the snow borg in Tide of ice, etcetera. My engineer doesn't just blow things up she's built to protect Vanderveer+teammates and my science officer is full of expose attacks and heals, all for the benefit of the team.

And that gives people the right to sit there and not try at all? To reap all of the benefits for doing nothing at all? Even if people are doing nothing at all but making sure the main objective gets done...if they aren't doing secondaries...they're still doing more than leeches.

Problem is a lot of people aren't good and refuse to listen or learn...there is a entitlement level in this game I've never seen in another...they literally expect to be carried. Trouble is this isn't pre-dr elites...you can't be carried by a single person in pugs.

why is this important? I can see this kind of players, but I don't care. I do what I must do, I have the rewards and that's all. I don't care about the other players, because when I do my best; I'm winning and the others too. that's all

I just would have to add; this problem is not unique to this game, even in rl, you can encounter people like that; the main reason is the total lack of honor and uprightness in our societies (I don't speak here about the false klingon honor)

nothing really, gets the same result

Exactly. So why then are people whining about some dude standing around in the CoC area, as opposed to other dudes standing around at, say, Q's bank/exchange/mail service desk?

I dunno - do you also get rewards for standing around Q's bank/exchange/mail service desk?

Do you even get rewards for CoC for being in the area?

So this has become a "Why do you care if I'm a leecher" argument in disguise huh?

I suppose it matters what you think of when you say leeching. Random people throwing snowballs? That's fine, new players don't have Ice/caramel/lol anti-snowmen weapons yet -- I'm putting this into the discussion since yesterday couple of newer players were accused they were leeching in CoC (I don't know if they healed snowconian etc) for the fact they threw snowballs in one of the instances of Q's Wonderland I was in. This isn't leeching, being new or having a fresh character that still didn't earn enough Q resources for the boots or ice weapons is fine.

If you think about real leeching, it's directly tied to how much you have to contribute to the event to reap benefits. (It's not much really, which I suppose encourages leeching to some extent for lazy people, makes for a lame excuse).

I generally don't have issues with it, we try our best, and that usually is more then good enough to finish the event in time, so what if few leech? I'm not bothered in that case. If we couldn't do it and there would be too much leechers, I suppose I'd be bothered, but then again, Q's Winter Wonderland is so mind-numbingly easy I just don't see that happening.

Am I defending leeching? No, absolutely not, it's very rude and unfair to other players, and it *is* a problem. In this specific case, with the specific difficulty of the content (easy), and considering it's christmas themed and that time of the year, I'm not bothered. I'm not really doing Q's Wonderland "seriously", I'm just chilling this time of the year.

Nah if theyre throwing snowballs or trying to collect ice and candy to feed the snowconian, SOMETHING, I'm cool, they're at least TRYING.

Leeching to me is doing nothing to help.

Can you be more specific, please? Because there's really not a lot to it. You fight snowmen, gather syrup and ice, dump them in their respective troughs. Then when the Snowconian is powered up, the Snowman Boss appears and attacks houses while you fight it.

How exactly does one TRIBBLE this up, when it's as simple as falling off a log? Let's hear your specifics, please.

Okay, this is a dumb question, but once the snow monster shows up, how do you recharge the Snowconian? Do you stand next to him and get a pop up, or do you stand by the trough and feed it? Almost always, I shoot at the snow monster and his minions, cause I generally didn't know any better.

Dump more shaved ice and syrup into the bins as in the previous portion. Shaved ice is easiest since so many snowmen drop it.

Is there actually something one can do against houses been frozen in? I know in the first phase you can scrape off ice, but it seems you can't do it in the final phase.

If you are a leecher in any of the winter events and dont move at all...you DON'T get any rewards. If you accidentally bump into a snowman or two perhaps might get 1 bead/decoration/earmuff. Unlike a regular PvE, winter events are set so you can move and do something or else you get nothing. Are leechers able to get any rewards if they don't move at all? I have not gone that way to test it but how do you know if that is even possible. Only thing I know that for instance if you sit around any race and don't move to even get a flag you get nothing. Same thing should apply for any event on the wonderland.

This^^. The rewards in Tides, Snowball Fight and Cones are performance related. If they're not doing anything they get nothing. If they only do a couple of things, they get a tiny reward. It's as simple as that Gradii. God knows why they won't put this in Mirror Invasion or any other Event!

I cant see why you class them as leechers, they only get scored for participation and the more they do the more they score, if they are just standing around doing nothing they will get nothing in the way of rewards so whats the problem.

its exactly the same in the snowball fight in the main area and frozen lake.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

When it comes to leeching and AFKing, this is Cryptic's solution.

1: Read feedback regarding AFKers and leechers. Maybe post something like, "We are deeply concerned about this, and are looking into it."

    2: Do nothing.

    3: Event ends.

    4: No more AFKers!

5: Pat self on the back for doing such a good job getting rid of AFKers in an event.

6: Wait for next event, go back to 1.
