With the season update and the new Mirror Reputation, the MIrror Universe enemies got some upgrades and have mostly access to the same ships as Fed players do, including special abilities. Command Cruisers have become a common sight there.
But what seems to be curiously missing are Intel ships. I've yet to see an Eclipse, Scryer or Phantom? Did Cryptic forget them? Did they fear the abilities of these ships would be too strong? Or did they decide to avoid them since the Intel skin would make them look out of place? (Though I could totally imagine a Mirror Intel skin that uses red instead of blue accents, it would still look very different from the white & red mix of the new regular Mirror skins.)
Or are Intel ships secretly invading our space and spying is out, and all the attacks just cover for deep infiltration of our universe?

I thought that was part of the bundle too.
It's probably something lame like the fact that it would have required too much time/work/resources to have mirror Intel skins made up, or something as to that affect. I dunno.
But good point. Interesting, wonder what the real reason is.
I was going to make a joke about them not being "intelligent", but this quote made sense and made a better joke.
Sounds legit.
*) On the KDF and RR side, the Qib and the Faeth are also Intel ships.
No, what I would have thought a brilliant move would be to have the Terrans use all the old Cryptic/launch ships like Star Cruisers (called Assault Cruisers for them), Patrol escorts, heavy cruisers (excluding canon skins), Jupiter, Typhoon (instead of Galaxy and Command Cruisers) and at the prime the Oddyssey, which they could have "stolen". At the same time, prime universe Starfleet NPCs should lose all early cryptic designs entirely and be made up of 75% "type-6" refit ships, some new T6 ones and a few (named) iconic ships like Intrepids, Galaxies, Ambassadors etc. so fightignt he Terrans serves as a "blink into STOs past" and illustrates a different ship evolution.

I am not a real Mirror Universe fan anyway, but the STO implementation I dislike particularly. The story just doesn't make any sense. I can understand the appeal of having to fight Federation ships even as Federation player, but... the Mirror Universe has evolved divergent from our timeline - there is no justification for them using ships that look like ours. Just because they rebuild one Defiant from our plans doesn't mean they'd do the same for all the ships. Most of their ships should be Cardassian and Klingon, because those are the opposition they overcome and whose production capacities they probably took over when they founded their new Terran Empire.
And of course, even the founding of a new Terran empire is weak-sauce - there is no good reason for the Mirror Terrans to found a new Empire if they had a leader like Smiley, and it completely devalues the DS9 storyline for the Mirrorverse.
The idea is that starfleet never existed as we know it and that it all diverged at least as far back as first contact.
So if that is the case why do the mirror universe have ships which are essentially that same as ours but with a flashy paint job?!
They'd have no need for the majority of our science or more "peaceful" ships and I doubt they'd even have the escorts or cruisers like ours as their fleet would have been designed solely with warfare in mind, they'd likely not look the same in shape or design.
So really is prefer if the mirror universe took a more extreme direction in ship design, rather than just copy the ships and give them a coat of paint and a boff seating shuffle.
I want to see true military ships, more along the lines of the KDF way of thinking.

Now that you mentioned it, why would they name a starship variant (it's not really a new class) "Imperial" in prime Starfleet to begin with? It begs to be a mirror assault (or star) cruiser and should find it's way into Terran mobs. Just because I'm cautious I mention again that of course nothing should be removed from players, our player characters do not follow rules and can wear and fly whatever the helll they want. But NPC designs should be separate for MU and PU Starfleet.

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
Also, the mirror Guardian has Command seating.

Tactical Team sucked, once upon a time. I got it buffed. Don't think for a minute that Cryptic ignores forum feedback.
I always headcanoned it as Smiley took all the plans he could grab, it was just that the Defiant was the most advanced ship the Federation had at the time so he built that one first to establish an immediate dominance over the Cardassians and Klingons who's ship development had been lacking in the years of peace without a fully fledged Terran Empire to fight.
As for why Smiley would found a new Empire, who's to say that someone didn't off him and establish the Empire themselves, Mirror Leeta would be a favourite for this act.
Well, I always headcanoned MU is some kind of Q's "switching game", because it definitely doesn't make any sense at all.
Most of the most boneheaded decisions in history were done because someone thought that they could do it better than the last attempt, hey, I'll go ahead and invoke Godwin's law by pointing out that Hitler thought he could outdo Napoleon and take Russia.
Someone thought that they knew why the Terran Empire had failed and that they could rebuild it, better, stronger and a force to stand against not only their universe, but the prime universe too, shall we prove them wrong?
While I'd expect their Intel ships were turned into Command ships (emulating the USS Blue Ridge in real-life), their Command ships didn't turn into Intel ships, only non-specialist ships like the Guardian turned into Intel. So they probably may get a Command warship Intrepid/Pathfinder-class (and ironically another thing some players have been wanting; a warship Intrepid).
