Some people have bought Assault Cruiser Refits specifically for it's wide angle Quantum. I imagine Cryptic was looking at that and wondering how many people would pitch a fit over them making something they paid $25 bucks for easily available through crafting and, inevitably, the exchange (and Quantum is most popular basic type of torpedo so...). I imagine they figured it wasn't worth the headache so... mediocre new plasma torp...
Times change. The Regent is pretty long in the tooth by now, I imagine everyone that wanted one has one... and fine, don't make wide angle Quantums available, just put out all the other flavors.
Not sure i would say that making a craftable wide-arc quantum torp would be bad, as long as you made sure that the wide-angle from the regent could be used alongside, would be a bad idea at all really. I mean even if the crafted torp is equal to the one from the ship than being able to slot two of these would be a nice reason to craft the new one, and for those that do not have the wide-angle from the regent might be more inclined to buy the ship for it as having two of these wide-arc torps would be pretty nice. Though i think that is also good to think on is how many of these people that would pitch a fit would there be compared to those actually iclined to get both the ship-based an crafted-based wide-angle torp, most of all since with any change or addition you will have many that will complain.
Crafting is of marginal worth now, because everyone can craft everything. Almost everyone has several crafting schools at 20 already, so crafting is no longer specialist labor for which you can charge a premium. It has reduced into an overcomplicated store.
There should be things that everyone can't craft for themselves. A reason for player X to craft item A's for sale, while buying items B through Z from others. The boff training manuals are a step in the right direction, but its not enough.
We call those BoFF training manuals. We don't need more.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
That would be nice. It's a notable void in the system. There isn't much beyond basic gear. Maybe have crafting unlocked with rep tiers?
I've been meaning to make a new thread specifically about this idea. It would be really nice if we could unlock the ability to craft reputation or lockbox weapon types. I love the look and sound of Romulan Plasma weapons, but I'm always going to be essentially gimping myself by using weapons that can't get more than two mods on them. I imagine I'm not alone in my desire to pair aesthetics with functionality, when it comes to my weapon choice.
Again, we could have it where one of the reputation tier rewards is unlocking the ability to craft the weapon type unique to that reputation, and as far as for lockbox weapons, maybe make it so that one of the things you have a chance to get when opening a lockbox is the crafting recipe for the weapons type of that lockbox.
"There will never be enough blood to wash away my need for vengeance! A single world...I could destroy a million worlds and it would not be enough! Your existence is an insult to the memory of my people! I will continue my fight, even if I must fight alone!"
The upgrading system was released un-finished and rushed out.
A fix was promised; adding modifers, but as with everything else the whales ruined it by buying into it. Same as Delta Rising, developers just laugh at them.
I never upgraded anything, nor will I ever. The gear I got, I already paid for. If they want me to pay again, they going to have to add actual content, and no more of these sucker bait 1D text windows with no animations, no models and zero work put into them.
But of course, admirality system comes out the whales going on a buying rampage buying ships for the empty queue what can you do other than laugh with the developers

My suggestion entirely! Both would be one per ship, but with the Sovereign having its own, AND the crafted wide arc torp, It keeps its trademark thing and is only improved upon as a result.
