I do agree with the OP regarding unique rewards. It's high time these followed the suit of the event ships and became account unlocks. If people want the Dilithium and marks on all of their toons then of course they should have to run it multiple times, but the rifles/torps/doffs should be account wide unlocks. I've reached my fill of it this time round, normally I run it with multiple toons but I just can't bring myself to run it with more than one this time.
Join date is wrong, I've actually been around since STO Beta.
True alters don't have a "main". Account wide unlocks for all unique event rewards!!

I'm only doing the event on 3 chars (1 tactical, 1 science and 1 engineering officer). It's quite tedious. And it often happens that we still have 4-5 minutes on the clock but nothing else to do since there aren't any new rifts spawining. This has been a known issue for years now. They could have changed it so the last phase so would start immediatly after - say 25 rifts - have been closed. But no. No change has been made at all. Sometimes I wonder why we are even reporting bugs.

I'm only doing it for one toon...first inclination, second time. I doubt that I'll use the weapon anyway, so why would I want to GRIND for it? There. Is. No. FUN. In. This. "Event".

I'm having a hard time motivating myself to do it this time around, it just too long and tedious normal or advanced doesn't matter. I was going to try my 15 toons but I'll be lucky to finish it on one at this point.

Be glad you don't have my issue. I run this with my fleet and we always wind up floating around for 5 or 6 minutes or more depending on how fast we kill everything

our science ships should be closing the rifts and activate sats by 50% faster.
any other ships trying to close and get hit within 20% and lost it to resets, and science ships facing same way, didnt like resettings.

i dont mind doing MU events, i need alot of marks since our regular que are almost too empty. it need better "solo" queings when we cant find groups.
i do wish they extend MU event days and allow others to catch up on older and previous MU events to finish, devs should add "daily" as soon the main projects are completed until events ended.

i also agreed, the rep marks need to be upped due to longer mission times.

Luckily the game is so alt unfriendly now and my alts have fallen so far behind that I no longer feel the need to equip them all with whatever new shiny that cryptic decided to put out. I remember doing this event on all my alts by the 3rd day I was burnt out.

    Doing way to much
I am just doing it all on one account and the others can catch up later.

I always find the Crystalline event too tedious to run... but the Mirror event is actually kind of fun IMO.

Yeah, what's with the News Blog about this being revamped. The info on the Rifle is new stuff but the revamp discussion looks like it was written after it switched from the old quick fun XP Extravaganza to this. Maybe I'm missing something but there was no revamp from the last time they had this. The only thing changed is they substituted newer class ships for the Terrans.

I realized tonight I just can't do this on all my characters. I will just do it on three or four. With my twelve characters that would be a minimum of three hours a night. I was on my third character when I realized that I needed to devote some attention to the character. Still using the Samsar from the Anniversary equip, needed to get ships claimed for the Admiralty System, etc. Spent most of the day playing that character.

I understand that due to the nature of the prize award you need to run it on the characters that you want to claim Dilithium and Marks on. People have been begging for the Special Item (only) to be unlocked for the account. You know if they want they could wait to do the unlock until after the Event is over.

I am not going to sweat over it or complain about it. There is just too much other stuff to do to worry about this for all characters.

And yes the Crystalline Event is certainly doable on all characters. I have not seen it miss the five minute timer in ages. Quick and fun; what the supposed new revamp of MI should have been.

Yeah, it's going to be a hard slog. I 'only' have 7 toons and I get done what I can. Doffing will take a back-seat to getting MI and my Rich Dil Mining done this weekend. MI is good for my alts because (1) They'll get enough Terran Marks to get max rep (2) the payout after 14 runs isn't bad. But God, it's gonna suck to do MIN 98 times. It's times like this I regret making alt toons.

I'm just running MI on 2 toons. Main plus 1 alt that is the best equipped out of my 9 total alts. I've just come back to STO after a long break due to burn out from this very event. The line must be drawn here! No further! Otherwise I will fall off the wagon and ever get my 1 month token from STOA.

Here's some advice: if you don't wanna play it, don't.

The problem with this thinking is that it applies to everything about STO.
Don't like MI, don't play it. Don't like Admirality. Don't do it. Don't like new BZ, don't do it. Don't like time gates on new queues. Don't do them.
Then at the end of the day, it's pretty much, don't like STO, don't play it.
When thats a small % of people, thats fine. When its a large amount of whales, then less money goes into STO, STO can't afford new missions, ships, graphics, what have you. Then STO slowly dies.
So telling people not to play is shooting yourself in the foot. Cause when the time comes that YOU WANT to play, too bad, you can't.

This is why helpful criticism about gameplay and what we want in the game, is actually helpful to STO devs AND the community.

No, i am saying that if people don't let the devs know what players like and don't like, not even the whales will be able to save the game.
This isn't a DOOM bla bla, because we CAN and DO tell them what we like and don't like.

Yes, it is tedious, at first I wanted to do it with 3 chars(out of 14) but I reduced it to just one, TRIBBLE the others, DR's new upgrade system caused me to gradually neglect all other characters except main but now I barely play even with him. 17 minutes per map(with relogging and standing in queue) is too much anyway.
My biggest qripe lies in the length of the queue and rift closing. You can't do anything while the bar is running, any ability, or damage taken will cancel it and it takes so TRIBBLE long without science ship.

Even my 3rd main toon, the Tac KDF, in the new B'Rel with upgraded fleet and rep gear running mk 12 vr coalition disruptors DHC & DBB with good mods plus (test gear to see if it's worth upgrading the other coalition disruptors - I don't like the color or the sound already) the mission disruptor set bonus, raider flanking, decloak, keybind buffs still feel too weak compared to the regular fleet upgraded UR disruptor weapons in this mission.

Sure, high DPSers will laugh at me, but I don't have time or resources to try out every gear/trait/boff/doff/etc. combo to find out the magic % stacking that results in ridiculously high DPS cause instead of parsing, testing, I'm out grinding for Dil, EC, and trying to keep up with things that's only designed for Pay-2-Play-ers so those have something to do.

I've spent lots of time and grind getting all the mission gear on ~4/6 alts and some special exchange gear/traits/boffs/etc. but the excessive amount of NPC HP since DR makes it punishing to bother with so much, particularly the fact that there's a timer that always stresses you out and remind you that your gear is sub-optimal for advanced mirror invasion despite the fact that the alts can and do manage most other STFs on advanced just fine. They can dish out damage, take punishment, and do what needs to be done and still feel rewarding due to the challenge of making it by with bare minimum gear.

It is so very tempting to do it on all alts, because they finally get a chance to start the new rep for the dil bonus on top of the MI Dil bonuses (rep->Dil), but like others have said, hating STO as a result is essentially grinding yourself out of it altogether.

STO is still fun with alts cause you can pick and choose leisurely, get by with minimal investments, do things spontaneously by choice, but if the point of gearing all alts for the purpose of making them viable in special events is to maximize the bonuses, save for the CC event, MI is making me not want to bother with playing or gearing alts anymore, while my 3 Mains (Rom, KDF, Fed) rarely make use of that new mission reward stuff anyways.

So last night, me and a small group did a private "AFK Mirror" mission on normal for testing purposes. We flew about 30 KM away from the closest emitter and just sat there for 10 minutes. I literally went to the kitchen to empty out the dishwasher and to reload it. We agreed to A) NOT close any portals (Except the 4 at the end) and to B) Let the bonus timer run out for fun.

In that time, a single science ship and a Miranda somehow sniffed us out and were plinking away at our shields, but never getting through, it was kinda funny. Anyhow - the results?

By the time the Boss Dread popped out, the Starbase was ONLY down to 70% health. That is to say, but sitting it out, the starbase is sometime at BETTER health than with many pugs. I LOLd.

We closed the remaining portals and killed the dread AFTER the bonus timer ran out. Also, The dread DID manage to kill the starbase once more at that phase as it was weakened. So, in a worst-cases scenario, we were paid 19 Marks on easy. However, if this is your DAILY, it turns into 74 marks.

So - Yeah - AFKers suck, but this is the bed that Cryptic made - a time-gated slog that actually indirectly rewards you to NOT play, in a sense.

I discovered that in the advanced queue, non of my characters actually does a good job at even disposing of the escorts which already sport close to 300k HP, this event is really disheartening and I suppose some kind of scaling error is going on. I mean I don't care for DPS but last parse I did for reasons put all my characters in the 12-25k range, but they hardly scratch the paint on those mirror ships pig-2.gif

I think the devs may want to take notice that people really, REALLY, do not like this mirror PVE.

Crystalline Entity one is fine. Its short and sweet and not too much of a chore to do on a daily basis. But this one? Its timegated and frustrating - people regard it as work rather than fun/a game - which creates negativity. I'd urge them to consider revamping for any future events.

People don't know how to take it. It's not work, because it's irrelevant. You can't fail it, everything except the dreadnought at the end is optional. Saving the starbase and closing the portals is a fool's errand, worth only a few rep marks.

People should regard it as 10 minutes of doing whatever you happen to feel like doing (up to and including nothing) followed by killing the dreadnought which is the only thing you actually have to do to finish.

The gap between normal and advanced is quite noticeable, but i still think the biggest issue in advanced is the leeches and lack of teamwork.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I've noticed this too, certain if not all feature episodes if approached as a team scale up higher than an STF on the same advanced difficulty. Uneasy Allies for example, in a full or near full team results in an immortal Scimitar at the last confrontation because it heals and cloaks as soon as it hits a low enough health. The mission as a whole also becomes very hard as opposed to solo, and so suspect the same thing applies to Mirror Invasion.

The last parse on a sci alt in a phantom was 12K using protonic polaron DHC/turrets, keeping the pug alive with CC, but MIA takes a while to take on even frigates.

Ugh...it is just too much. The event just started, and between the A.S.S. (Admirality Ship System) and this, i'm getting wrecked. This is a very alt-unfriendly event; It's just too much. I am particularly curious why a ship will be allowed for an unlock if ONE toon runs the event to the end but a piddly rifle CAN'T be?

    "Firing Plasma Lance in 3...2..1...."

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!111!!!!!! MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!

ok, take a breath, relax, now let me tell you a secret, the Admirality system is here to stay, it aint going to go away so you can afford to give it a rest and anything else for that matter, just concentrate on the event and nothing else.

now for some insight, this event is not about the rifle, just like the last CCE was not about the Hologram Duty Officer, they are puny compared to the main prize, sure there may be some players who really want these things but in cryptics mind they are not the main prize, the main prize is the 50k dilithium.
just take a look at the list of rewards you get for completing the main reputation, "players can run a new reputation project to earn a huge reward of Dilithium, Marks, and a unique Mirror Universe Agony Rifle" now if the rifle was the main prize don't you think they would list that first?.
no its all about the dilithium and if you want dilithium for every one of your characters you've got to earn it, sure they could make the rifle account bound but there could well be something about the way it is awarded that means if they unlock it for the rifle it will also award all the other goodies in the prize as well and that aint hapnin.

so if you want the rifle for every character you've got to earn it, if you don't like the rifle like me (i hate it , its going strait out the airlock) but you want the dilithium you've got to earn it.
if you don't really want the rifle or the dilithium then don't bother doing the event.
    orion0029 wrote: »
Also worth noting, if the event were made alt friendly like the summer/winter/anniversary events, players would miss out on significant dilithium rewards.

see even this poster is beginning to realise its the dilithium that's the thing that drews us in.

I will agree I don't much care for mirror but I do like dilithium. :D

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

There are no "leeches", in the conventional sense. What there ARE is people who have accepted that the entire first act of the mission is an exercise in futility...counterproductive futility.

So here we bring you: ESCAPING MIRROR HELL, THE GUIDE
STAGE 1: DO NOTHING. Take a breather. Fill your ASSjobs and Daily Reps. The Daily Reps will serve as a counter for when you can next partake in MIRROR HELL. If you power up the Starbase, it will gain the Troll Wave, which will annoy the hell out of you in the next stage. Closing portals has no useful effect as the Starbase will close them all anyway, although you can do it if you're bored. Engaging in Pew Pew is optional if you feel like DPStesting on some Mirror ships. Ignore the tiresome whining of people who JUST DON'T GET IT. They weren't THERE for the previous runs. THEY didn't run 40 characters a day.
STAGE 2: GO STRAIGHT FOR THE DREAD AND SHOOT IT UNTIL IT DIES. It will only run twice. If you close all the portals, you must go to all 6 of them and clear each one of enemies long enough for someone to close the portal. If you just chase and bash the Dread, you will only visit 3 or fewer points, and it will simply be faster.

YOU'RE DONE! Now move onto the next character!
Great advice. Except on Advanced it may be faster to close the dreadnought's portals if that's what everyone else is doing, because it takes a lot of DPS to kill it alone.

Maybe @borticuscryptic can recommend, or find a way to include a spetial mission in the event, that last 7 days, and reward half the pize, but not the main weapon-ship-device? so its practical for alts?, i mean, for the alts would be practical, lets say the system detects that other char in your account has started the reputation event, it offers the discount as optional so yuo can choose the long or the short option.

Other thing is that the mirror invasion event could be tweaked so it detects that no more rifts are open, and fast forward to the next par of the mission??
