Just did the stupid mission and only got 21 marks? Are you guys at Cryptic stupid or are you being jerks or what? How dioes that make sense?
What level did you do the queue on and did you get the optionals? Failing on optionals can cause you to not get the daily marks package in other queues, at a high enough level.

I only got 13 and we got bout half the bonus stuff done *edit, was confused which was which, got 13 for the ground, counterpoint think got about 30 plus the daily up to 82 er something...
weren't the marks super low for the iconian stuff as well first few days?
Were you on Normal, Advanced, or Elite? (NOTE: I have NOT looked at the queues in game to know which levels actually exist.)

I'm far from an expert, so this is just a guess... but I noticed that when I repeat a mission/que the marks go down into the 10s or 20s... I suspect this occurs when done within a certain timeframe (20 hours?)... so when I respond multiple times to the Red Alert for the Borg or Tholians, for instance, I often only get between 10 and 20 marks because I had already responded that day.

In this galaxy there’s a mathematical probability of three million Earth-type planets. And in the universe, three million million galaxies like this.
Those are the normal rewards for the Red Alerts. Borg give 10 Omega, Tholian 20 Romulan and 10 Nakura (or Fleet). The first time through for the day you also received the Daily Bonus Mark Reward of 55 for each (no Bonus for Fleet Marks, however).

They DO not reduce the Queue Rewards for ANY Queue. Differences would be as a result of already collecting the Daily Marks Bonus earlier in the day, the Level of the Queue, and the Optionals Made/Not Made.

The reason I asked what level is that it is possible to have something be your first queue of the day, where you would expect the Daily Marks box, but on the higher levels (think it starts with Advanced?), blowing an optional can cause you to not get the Daily Marks box either, in addition to losing the marks you would've had for the optionals. (You CAN get the Daily Marks Box by trying again and getting the optionals, or dropping to a lower level.)

That's interesting. I thought we got all the optionals but maybe missed one. In any event I got 80 on advanced. I had assumed that was with the bonus 55 but now I'm not sure.

The only thing I can't recall is whether it's Advanced or Elite that acts like that, but I know that certain failures to reach objectives can prevent getting the Daily Marks box.

Unfortunately, rewards for content has been rather inconsistent over the years. Some has been generous, some rather stingy. This creates unbalanced expectations from the get go. It is not shocking that people focus on rewards in the game though, as so much of the game mechanics hinge on how many marks or other currency you need to progress. Rewards often fall on the low end as they are trying to keep people playing on a continual iterative basis. This makes sense on their end, as they want to the game to continue while only having an ability to create a limited amount of content, but realistically, on the player side, this can get tedious quickly.
From what I understand, Borticus recently lashed out at a player that was complaining about the low rewards from some of the new content. He was upset that people focus on the numeric rewards rather than the fun of just playing new content. Two things:
Yes, it can be fun to play new content. But getting the reward, that thing which says "You win, have a prize!" is usually a part of that fun. A big part. It is unfair to try to have them separated into discrete boxes.
Secondly, and more importantly, this game revolves around numeric rewards. This game is based on iterative grinding for rewards. The art, writing, story, and characters do provide some appeal and attraction, I will not deny that, but on a deep, pragmatic level , this game is about getting those rewards. And that is because the game is made that way. It is about grinding; it is about the Skinner Box. Click for experience grind. Specialization grind. Duty Officer grind. Crafting grind. Upgrade Grind. Fleet project grind. And now the Admiralty system. Good idea, story/rp wise, but mechanically, just more time-gates and grind. The Terran Reputation is the 8th, Yes, the 8th reputation system. (That doesn't count the special event projects either). A large portion of this game is built upon this. Click, get a reward. Click, get a reward. The player base is psychologically trained to focus on those rewards.
And then a dev gets upset because players focus on those rewards? How dare you?! YOU MADE THE GAME THAT WAY!

Awesome post there! Yea the drive to progress is the one and only drive which basically every MMOPG player shares.
Both new queues feel ohkayish with the current rewards at best BUT ONLY if one includes the daily reward. Cryptic saw to it that both new maps have been time-gated to limit the rewards again as well.
I can see myself running those queues to pull my 9 chars through reputations but under consideration of the few marks one gets can’t already help myself but to do the math about it how to do so most efficiently. And that’s already where fun stops and grind starts.
If those maps have a long live or share the fate of mine trap remains to be seen and will be seen 3-6 months down the road.

Looking for a fun PvE fleet? Join us at Omega Combat Division today.
I did do this mission earlier so the daily bonus is gone, but still 36 marks seem kind of low?
I think so. Infected Manus (Advanced) for example grands 75 when optional objectives are achieved (130 with daily and optinal met). Only time-gate is the terrain there but I estimate similar average timeframes to run it.

Yeah ISA awards 75 marks without the daily bonus and it runs much much shorter than this.
Went the the Badlands BZ and they were already at the end so took part in that. Later I went back, helped capture 4-5 points, did 2 of the base things and the final battle.
Played Counterpoint 2 times (maybe 3, ran another toon through a couple things as well so can't remember for sure). Played Assault on Terok Nor 3 times as I like that one. Both on normal. Got the daily once.
End result, over 300 marks and 5 of the elite marks. All in all I'm pretty pleased with that. And I'm not a high DPS player either, far from it.
The Marks rewards have slipped since Delta...compared to the other games, Delta Marks were pitiful in rewards and now these ones are even worse. It means that you have to play the monotonous content over and over and over again...and now with erasing The Breach and my BELOVED Mine Trap, we've got now way of having fun in earning them!
Just done it on normal and we got the optionals as far as I can tell (even though the final score window doesn't explain much) and we only got 18 marks each.
I'd already got the daily package so that was still on cooldown.
But 18 marks seems seriously low, something not right?!
I played normal for comparison, got 27 marks. That's with 10 portals closed and I think 19 assault teams landed. All other optionals (Terak Nor and DS9 health) met.
I did counterpoint again and got 75 marks, which included my daily reward pack for that rep mark. Ran the mission again and got 20 marks. So no idea what the hell is going on as the rewards are definitely up the wazoo. They'd better fix this asap or people are going to drop these queues quickly and they'll just end up dead like everything else.

Cryptic do this every freaking time. They constantly try to push the limit of player frustration, until they eventually have to relent/give in.
Cryptic keep moaning about how players keep exploiting the game, so how about Cryptic quit exploiting the players, first?

Quoted for truth.
Rewards are insulting on both new maps.
The rewards are also bugged it seems so on occasion players do not get the daily mark reward making this time gated contend even more absurd.
If cryptic does not adjust we look at 2 more dead queues in a matter of a few weeks.
