Shard of Possibiltys (former featured episodes reward)

naomy1701naomy1701 Member Posts: 10 Arc User
since over a year i wait now for the shard of possibilitys to become available again, since many new characters dont have it (like my Delta Recruit). i understand that, with the featured episodes being the introduction of new missions now, it cant be old repeating missions aswell. and i dont mind the lobi we could get either. but what i mind is, that the shard hasnt been coming back since a year... and i am 100% positive that many players would like to get it, since its a great item and very funny on top of its useability. i find it somehow unfair to keep it away from newer players and older players new toons.

couldnt it become a mission reward maybe? for one of the temporal missions maybe, or as part of the mirror missions or something? im sure alot players would greatly appreciate its return, may it be as a mission reward or as a timelimited, repeatingly appearing event reward of some sort, like the crystaline incursions.

friendly greetings fellow captain.

Yea OP, peeps ask for it regularly around here. Hope cryptic makes another rerun soonish. A few missing things make my delta recruit still feel incomplete. Cane and Shard are defiantly two of them. :'(

yeah i agree, its the same with the winterevent boots, but atleast i can assume i will be able to get them when the Winter event is running again. the shard on the other hand is missing still and not in sight for a return yet =( and thats uncool. as much as i like the improvements of the game, i dont like that things like that are simply falling away, because on one hand its unfair for all that dont have it, and on the other hand its a fun item that doesnt hurt anyone (not like the disco balls that splited the playerbase so badly that they had to invent a blocker for them...)

Creates two Quantum duplicates of the wielder for about a minute.

They should just put them back into the Missions PERIOD. They are all unique items so a character can only obtain them once.

It would seem they are probably loathe to do an FE rerun because of Lobi they normally give away. If that is the reason give away a choice of options once a day of the items recently provided with the Iconian Arc FEs - Spec Point, or Universal Tech Upgrade.

Why do you have to have E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G? A game evolves over time. People that were around will have relics from times past but new and better stuff is coming. I don't know how that is "unfair" - it's not like cane and shard are very useful items, they're just vanity stuff.

there are some things in the game you may never get for example the Red Matter Capacitor that could only be obtained by purchasing the Collector's Edition of Star Trek Online, where you would get an unused copy and whether the code will actually work anymore is anyones guess, personally I will not risk buying a duff one.

sometimes you just have to resign yourself to the fact that some things are never going to be available again and move on.

I STILL don't see the point in the Delta Recruits...what's been special about then except a little dilithium from completing the missions? I was expecting a lot more...

Or just adds them to the standard loot pool. The Iconian war arc added a lot of valuable swag to the game and if you factor out the FE rewards the preceding 60 levels of content don't really have that much to offer besides the odd 3-set. A few heavy hitting items might redress the balance.

It's probably also the account rewards. Every character on your account gets quite a lot of fleet marks and dil.

Well, there's the account wide unlock for the ship trait that grants temporary invincibility called Temporal Insight/Improved Temporal Insight. Plus there's the account wide unlock for the Temporal Negotiator ship device and the Paradox Corrector ground device.

I read the news items regarding the event and got all that I expected from the event and was not at all shocked to find there was not any more then what was listed in the news items.

for some reason a lot of players seemed to read a lot more into it then there was either by not reading the news items fully or by reading more into it then that which was reported there.

some players were even so convinced Delta characters were going to be the best thing ever for long after the event was over that they even took to deleting existing characters in favour of creating Deltas.

Well, actually only two of three, maybe three will get some love after we got a rom T6 science ship (not the ha'nom please, that thing is huge and ugly).

Oh, and i really liked the Delta Recruit event.
Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...

the event was great and I really had fun playing through the early missions again, I only had 3 characters before so I had been wanting a few farmer alts for a while so the Delta event was a blessing for me, the ideal time to create 3 farmer alts and have my 3 main characters benefit from account rewards at the same time.
having said that I realised where the limitation were and was not expecting anything over and above what was very well portrayed in the news items unlike some players who seemed to think Delta recruits were going to be something extra special and would get extra everything for ever more.

there were even some who thought there would be Delta only events running every other week with special Delta only rewards dished out right left and centre and any player who did not have a Delta in their line up would end up missing out on 90% of the future games seasons and expansions content.

The Shard is far from being a "vanity" item, as you put it.

It essentially gives non-tactical characters Security Team without having to replenish the supply of consumable support, like the Romulan/Reman support teams or Tholian drones.

So, the Shard is VERY useful.

Well, why do players have to have everything? I don't have to, but I want to and would enjoy it. Especially since my main toon is an alien who is observing the federation and wants to be in contact and work with as many species as possible, so I am missing a Breen. Which really is my main point for wanting it. I do not really care about the cane and shard as much (though I would get them if available), also because they're gadgets. I can perfectly well live without the RMC, because, useful as it is in game, it doesn't have the same toy character.

Also, I don't need Lobi for some rerun event, would happily skip that (well, I wouldn't if it were available of course, though I have no idea what I would spend it on yet), I just want a Breen boff ;) (Oh, and a Benzite, but that's another story which has nothing to do with FE replay).

A lot of people who began playing before I did or who are willing to spend more money on this game than I am have a great many items I have little to no chance of acquiring. I have no problems with this. Some people have more hair than I do or are younger and better looking than I am as well. It is what it is. And that is all it is. I do not find my enjoyment of STO to be any less because I do not have every single item ever offered as part of a special event.

Further, a lot of these items are for specialized uses and outside of these they are quite limited. One of my Fleet mates has the Red Matter Capacitor which was offered as a giveaway during Captain Smirk's last ride on Twitch. He was delighted to recieve it but after awhile, he stopped using it. He had other items which made his char far more effective.

As long as I get my fair chance at acquiring The Next Big Thing, I'm good with not having everything.

Those consumable ground pets are better than the shard. Sure, it's renewable and grants two NPC redshirts, but that really doesn't make such a big difference. Especially in the higher-level-content those drop almost immedeatly in AoE attacks of mobs.

Are Cryptic being unfair...not by a long shot. This is just the same complaint as those that complain about not being able to get old special event ships. It's called exclusivity, as in the saying 'you had to be there to see it'! I don't mind that my older toons don't have it either, it's not a deal-breaker, as useful as it can be.

There didn't used to be that many "lost forever" items in STO, but this year they've really ramped it up. Not good.

The changes to the summer event ships for example, only reduced playtime in the event. It was the first time I played an event with only 1 toon.

indeed, they have even made it so alt characters cant even benefit from doing the ship mission in the event until after you claim the ship with your main character, you can only trade 1 days tokens each day for marks and cant start trading tokens until you finish the main ship project, this severely diminishes the reason for playing the event with more then 1 character, we can only be grateful that they have left the CC and Mirror events alone.
I certainly wont bother using more then 1 character in the seasonal events again and even then it will likely be just get the ship tokens and go and its a shame because I really used to enjoy playing the events when they were running, now theres just not enough rewards there to make it worthwhile.

now if after claiming the ship there was no cooldown timer on the mission for turning in extra tokens and we could turn in all the tokens we have saved on alt characters it might be a different story.

I foresee a severe drop off in the amount of time players spend at risa and q's wonderland in the future.
