Tales of the War Compendium

Hey ya'll!

Now that the Iconian War has concluded, I have created a compendium page for all our previous Tales of the War pieces. I'm also reviving a previously discontinued guide: Season guides. More to come as Morrigan adds more to her overflowing plate, but by golly she has coffee and talks in the third person ok!

nice...now what about also talking someone on the dev team intro turning all these into data chips to collect ingame?
Like special weapons from other Star Trek games? Wondering if they can be replicated in STO even a little bit? Check this out: https://forum.arcgames.com/startrekonline/discussion/1262277/a-mostly-comprehensive-guide-to-star-trek-videogame-special-weapons-and-their-sto-equivalents

An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"

Hmm...it's good that they are being gathered somewhere, but it's not too late to add them to the game somehow so that others have a slightly more immersive experience than those of us who played the original versions, when they experience this arc for the first time. It occurred to me that perhaps you guys could either add them to the Iconian Rep, or even Easter Egg them into consoles in the Iconian story missions, similar to how you find those Vaadwaur logs laying around in "Ashes to Ashes."

Actually, I would favor the latter option. Based on my experiences in the Foundry, I think it would be fairly noninvasive. Maybe even add an accolade for any player who reads them all in-mission.

In the future I would recommend that material THIS integral for understanding the seriousness of the war be better incorporated into the game itself but given the difficulty involved in doing a serious revamp (especially with all of the voice overs), that would be how I'd remedy the situation this time around.

Awesome! Should it have the tales tag, though?

Originally, I was going to be using the tagging system for all of the blogs, however my webdev team has been having problems getting custom tags made. So once that was the case, I made this. :)

what would be cool would be to remake memory alpha and put these stories there. Since that would take a crazy amount of time and resources, maybe have a contact at each academy? It would just be nice to have these in game somehow.

    I second this.

It would be nice to have this (and other past 'blog') info concerning events in-game be available actually in-game. And Memory Alpha would be the perfect place, being the repository of galactic knowledge. ;)

The contact could be your Path to 2409 contact (Commander Viala / Loresinger Ch'toh),. Perhaps just add a third dialog option that leads directly to the texts instead of creating a set of chips?

That's nice. Now can we have an actual war to go with your blog?

Ooh, thanks for putting all of these into an archive where we can view them in one place! This will be especially helpful for players who join later and want to read them.

    That's a fair question. I doubt it though :(

While the damage is done for those of us who have already played through, and an attempt to add new episodes, cutscenes, or other parts of episodes will likely fail, I haven't seen anyone address my possibility to make the Blogs show up in the episodes. Switching some extra consoles to interactable and adding an accolade IMO would not be likely to FUBAR the missions. It would at least be *something.* (In addition to "do better next time.")

Would it be possible to have these show up on the computer console in my ready room on my ship that is barely used for anything and just flashes uselessly at me?

    Just a thought.

That and the stories that lead up to the release of the game that Kestrel wrote 'Path to 2409' (I've no idea if they are still in the database for the forums or not).

Edit: The history side mission felt odd, when you get the PADD from the library computer, but you don't get to actually read them. Would be nice that when you unlock them, they'd be available for perusal at the Captain's ready room.

the path to 2409 is chronicled across a few hundred data chips that you can get from your faction's academy by doing a daily mission, after which you can use up the data pad and get an accolade added to your list that details that specific volume and chapter, so those are already ingame

(and which is also why i asked for something similar for the tales of the war stuff earlier in the thread)

Yeah, you have to open the accolade list to read the datachips. :p
