It's typically convoluted gameplay by Cryptic, so it's easy to misunderstand. In fact, I probably did the same thing the first day or two, without even knowing it. People are still working out the..manners, I guess, on it. Today I captured a point by myself and someone came along coincidentally at the end but chose not to take any credits. People are starting to figure it out, I think.
I agree. However, like STFs where everyone just "needs" (and heck it's gotten so that most don't even give a "gg"), this will devolve again.

The being dropped randomly would not be bad if you could collect and store them as long as you like. The stupid despawning of them FORCES the Pokemon effect.
I for one if they did not despawn would have like 400 sitting in the bank by now. But this BS of logging back in and see your stack of 100-200 just gone is beyond all measures of stupid.
It's like Tour the Galaxy still being a 1hr event and having a 3hr40min cool down thrown on to it. Also add Experimental Warpcore Upgrades to that list. 4 slots with Matter-Antimatter but can only place in two because they are slotted Science instead of Engineering.
-The lengthy daily that requires the calling in of support
-The time based nature of this consumable
-The fact that fleet spire upgrades lower the amount needed to reinforce an area
-The currency is spread out near the location enemies died when completed and not "owned" by those who killed said enemies
-Defending a point grants many more credits and rewards instantly on kill of enemies (seems like 2-4 credits per)
-The lack of an instance/shard specific chat to encourage teamwork
To me it seems as through the devs planned this currency to be important to holding a captured zone (by being time limited), but also be fluid enough that you could designate one person in a group to do the ordering of reinforcements to make full use of credits (and allow for people to form this as a strategy). It also seems they planned to negate farmers going for the credits by dropping them post-capture and not impeding the point of the zone rather than dropping them per enemy like when you defend a point.
In theory this was a good idea, however due to this mixture it has fostered the opposite of the intent and promotes "ninja-ing" of the credits and leads to frustration of people trying to actually complete the zone and use teamwork while some may just be in it to finish their daily and leave.
Honestly, when this continually happens I just switch instances and move on. The same goes for when people start to capture a point with me and cause more enemies to spawn, and then immediately leave and thus leave me with the extra spawns.
I think the best option is to make the currency permanent and let the user discard it if need be (similar to the New Romulus resonating rocks/glowing plants/radiation reports, etc.). I would also suggest considering making the credits drop on-kill like with point defense and boss kills. I believe there is enough incentive as-is to actually complete the zone, and with the credits being non-time limited and the nature of the cost going down over time with fleet spire progress, this problem will resolve itself rather shortly and make the gameplay much less frustrating in the meantime.
I kinda don't really care. It's not like you will have your Dyson progress halted if it takes you a while to get a bunch of those things. But sure, I'll +1 a good idea.
"So my fun is wrong?"
No. Your fun makes everyone else's fun wrong by default.
I feeel the need to be blunt here: this game mechanic needs to die in a fire. Not only are those randomly spawned pink things annoying to gather up in the first place (even with the auto pickup), they then vanish in 2 hours. REALLY???????????????????? I don't even WANT more TRIBBLE gumming up my inventory, but by the time I have enough to use, they start disappearing?????????? BULL****.
I don't mind the reinforcement mechanic, and I wouldn't mind seeing the addons in this thread added, but for the love of all things holy and sacred just make them cost EC.
It's not right that you work hard in defeating a sector by yourself and here comes someone waltzing in, getting rewarded for what you did? Dude, that's not teamwork at all.
The same can be said for the Space zones. People gotten so lazy that they don't want to do missions for their dailies, instead they fly around waiting for someone to spawn NPCs for them to shoot at, so they get credit. And if you are against Swarmers and Probes........ Dude, talk about mega lame.
Wait, I was supposed to be running around collecting all those Mario coins? I just assumed they were visual and I was getting deposited into my player whatever it was they were dropping. Did I miss the popup explanation window for THAT bit of useful info?

I must agree with the OP, this kind of free for all is not good in this or any game.
This kind of mechanic only brings out the worst in players were they start to send negative tells to other player who just come in and ninja swipe the loot.
Knowing how players react with AFKers not contributing but still collecting the rewards, I am shocked that Cryptic would even try something like this.
Well this is yet more proof that Cryptic has no clue as to how the player base feels.
For whoever created this reward mechanics you really need to spend more time on the forums to get to know the player base when it comes to loot drops and rewards.
And for the foolish upper management that approved this kind of reward mechanics to be placed in this game should be removed from his or her position, clearly you have not done your due diligence as management to see the outcome of this kind of reward.
You would think by now the Dev team would have a better understanding of what the player base is like.
OP you have all of my yes.
Though rather than hearing the mario coin noise I often look at everyone scrabbling for them and hear the seagulls from Finding Nemo... "MINE! MINE! MINE!"
"If this will be our end, then I will have them make SUCH an end as to be worthy of rememberance! Out of torpedos you say?! Find me the ferengi!".

now im gunna have that go off in my head everytime an area gets taken XD
but seriously like 2 years later and we still have stuff landing on tops of doors and shuttles ... we should have had this looked at already.
I agree this needs to be changed. Was capturing a point last night solo, had to also solo one of those Voth generals on my sci toon as one of my boffs aggro'ed him, So him and the spawns from the capture point made it harder than it needed to be. Low and behold the point gets captured, go to collect my bz credits, next thing i know theres 3 other people darting around the capture point scooping up the bz credits without firing a single shot to help capture the point. I was wondering where the F did they all come from.
The way these credits are obtained doesn't encourage teamwork. Its a free for all and encourages leeching and afking.
I bet we've all captured a transporter before about to collect our bz credits, only for a small army of other players to appear out of nowhere and its a mad race for the spoils.
I have to agree... command credits ought to go in the inventory directly (or more accurately, every player in that zone ought to get credits if they did something towards that areas capture)
even if they lowered the amount per zone, it'd be a lot fairer than a mad dash to get them (or as I've seen, purposely holding back in the hope of your assisting allies dying)
Also the V Rex boss areas need a mechanic to keep players from leech-camping the spawn. Maybe buff the dino HP and offense some too.
I love being told to "Stop crying" when I complain about people running and ninja killing the dinos or camping it, shows real maturity and understanding of game design on part of some of the community.
It's about time we allowed players who contribute to the capture points to have a shot at getting to the boss in time.

A two year necro and not even accidental. Most impressive, but not worthy of praise.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Necromancy isn't easy but I was just on Kobali Prime and was taking courses.

That reinforcements mission is pretty easy if you know the one zone that can be spammed for credits. If you don't know, it's the central zone in the city and this can only be done after it has been captured.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.
