I really do hope season 11 changes STO for the better. It needs it.

Its been said, that time is a precious thing. I do wish that cryptic would apply that to doing something about these DEAD queues. So far it seems to have fallen on cryptics deaf ears about this god awful problem.
There is more waiting around for a 5 player queue to fill up and it takes ages for this to happen. Very frustrating.
I would like to see more missions eventually available for a single player on their own or with their full 4 boff away team, to beat these dead queues. I have noticed now that many don't want to team up or queue up, so its no wonder the game is so slow. As for season 11, it looks good and i hope it changes this game for the better, and that the dead queues problem is addressed urgently.

The issue is that there's not a lot they can do to 'fix' the queues without complaints in the other direction about how battlezones are now near impossible because no one will do them because the reward for queues are better.

The problem is there really isn't an "easy fix" for this problem. Most queues are avoided simply because they are bad & un-fun by design. You can tweak some minor stats but that dosen't fix an ultimately broken concept.

They'd have to entirely srcap them and build them anew from scratch for which they probably have neither the manpower nor the budget. *cough*terradome*cough*

funny... last 4 days in a row Ive had no problem getting the "all 3 silos" bonus in voth bz

Which is a testament to what the issue at hand is...

Right now, Dyson Sphere Ground - aka "Voth Battlezone", is one of the best areas for Dil earning per hour invested, with only a modicum of "difficult" work. Therefore, people seeking wads of "easily earned" dil flock to the Voth BZ... Much as spacers repeatedly flock to ISA because it's the easiest / least difficult place to earn Dil (via Omega Mark and BNP turn ins)

Now, the "fixes" to the "neglected queue" problem of the OP are:
    1. "Generate" thousands of new players that somehow say "Neglected Queue X is the bomb, I'll do nothing but play here even though it's easier / I get more income playing ISA repeatedly / running around Dyson Ground".
    2. Make the queues "pay better" than the Voth BZ, theoretically because the queues are more difficult. At this point, the playerbase will repeatedly bash against the better paying queues until "muscle memory" (and powercreep) makes them as easy as ISA - and those who favor the Voth BZ will be whining "where are the players to help me complete these zones and kill the three dinos in 2 minutes, not 20?"

And before you get any ideas that somehow "equal time = equal pay", just compare Infected Space / Khitomer Space / The Cure Space against each other. ISA is running all the time, it's pretty quick to get into KASA, but CSA seems to lag behind - even though all 3 queues pay identically. Why? Because CSA is considered "the most difficult" of the three, and it's easier to repeat ISA / CCE over and over branching out to KASA for variety instead of running, say, CSA / AZN repeatedly branching over to ISA for giggles...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

Sorry, but there's been no news that they are working on dead queues.

Really it's their fault that the queues are dead in the first place. Because they flooded it with too many queues that nobody plays anymore and then had to "adjust" the queue difficulties because the DPSers thought it was too easy.

If S11 is to make a difference we need a real exploration system in it. Star trek fans are sick and tired of the endless war spam without any actual "Star Trek" exploration.

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

part of the problem is that the queues are too broken up by level brackets as well. Lets take Colony Invasion as one example. That map is bracketed beyond belief. It takes 5 people to start the mission. Now lets suppose you have a person in the 20-29 bracket, 1 in the 30-39, 2 in the 40-49, and the 5th in the 60 bracket. You have 5 people there to make the team that have queued for said event, but because of the intense amount of level brackets in place none of these people ever get to run the mission as a result. Rewards is only one part of the equation.

From my point of view and how i play the game, I have not had to play a STF in a number of months. With all the different ways now to earn rep marks and the disrespect from others to me flying t5us in regular STFs, there is no reason to pug.

With my alts in full armadas, the call for private STFs is constant.

I know it comes naturally to a number of players and forum posters to just up and blame Cryptic, some soul searching on our part will expose the real reason a number of us do not put anymore.

It appears to me as if this coming season will be no different from prior seasons in that, their current plans are: to come out with additional ships, a new non-interactive timed mission system and a a new story line and some new repeatable missions with a new rep line. There are no radical changes or introductions in that mix. The last thing that was introduced that, to me, was a serious change that improved the game was when the walls came down in sector space. And, although I liked it very much, some players hated it. They have however taken elements out of the game that are now sorely missed that had to do with real player interaction and exploration. I'm hoping these elements will be improved upon and reintroduced back into the game. But...time will tell...

The question is...what, in your mind, would improve the game? I'd like to see the return of areas to really explore, upgradeable DOFF's, DOFF's that can learn different abilities, and new ship interiors (modifiable areas). Pie in the sky...I'd really like to be able to travel in sector space from the starship's bridge. There's been talk of a timed system that sounded feasible and good. You want to add clocks to the game, try that clock!

When I play I only pug. However, I don't play very much anymore. Prob average of 2 or 3 runs a day. It the height of my obsessive grinding it would have been more like 15 runs a day.

The reason is fairly simple. I don't need anything and play just for fun when the mood strikes me.

Since I will 'need' mirror marks I'll be back in the mirror queues for that.

I never thought I would say this but maybe a solution would be to remove about half of the missions from the public list but let people still start private instances of them. I think the massive public list is daunting and if it were pared down to maybe 20 - 25 missions (plus their various difficulty levels) it would be easier to get them all to go.

There is still more than 10 that will go very quickly. It would be cool to double that.

One of the issues is that sheer number of ques, tied with that many of them give the same general reward an so incentive to play them (marks, dill, advanced marks). This issue makes it that players will herd mentality into the easiest an quickest aues to get their mark daily reward, along with the easiest to get thier advanced marks in. Now if we had more incentives of varying types like how in i believe the ground infected que you can get a assimilated borg boff, or even more unique weapons, vanity cosmetic rewards, what not.

Now also with the huge amount of que maybe they might look into opening some fo the other ques that do not give specific marks (i believe only two or three give romulan and Nukara marks) an let the players choise one of those two or so marks from finishing those ques as well. Then maybe look into segmenting the stf ques that are availible to be played into a weekly/dual-weekly (stf ques availible shift twice a week) shifting line-ups of stfs to limit how many stfs you have availible to chose from, which could also foster people doing different stfs or going to the other battlegrounds as well. Even though this would limit the numbger of stfs to choose from we already have so many dead ques that honestly it would not change much, other than removing the incentive to play the same stfs over an over for the easy marks thru them.

To me both bulstering rewards to be more than just marks/dill/advanced marks into also giving out vanity items, uniue weapons/shields/armor/kits/modules, along with segmenting the stfs that are in the usable/playable line up each week, would give people more reason to play the other stfs an content by directing them into these areas an incentivings them also. I mean when you have 70+ stfs to choose to play thru, and only (what) 5 or 6 five the best mark/dill/advanced mark to time investment compared to the other stfs, along with no other incentive to play the other stfs availible to you. Which would you do/play?

and those of us casual players, even if we have a T-6 if we DARE not use the "Official" build, or we are not familiar with the STF even on normal level, you get a "you suck, stop playing" comment.

I highly doubt this season will undo the disastrous "Players love it" season but I do hope it at least mitigates some of the worse offenses from it. Retiring most of my captains because of the highly anti-alt nature of the "improvements" didn't add much to the game for me.

As far as queues go, there are far too many queues for too few players to have any but the most lucrative be consistently run publicly. Put a rotating bonus on the unpopular ones to funnel reward seekers to them to get people exposed to them.

OP...you must be new around here. This would be season 11. One common denominator is that Cryptic never DOES what players wants.

As any "for profit" business model all it wants its money...Heck there have been bugs since season1 and still remained unfixed (long list of bugs to be fixed). Main priority is fixing exploits or nerfing powers that might give a substantial advantage over other players. There is no motivation to fix issues like "empty pve queues" since this more like a re-design that would occupy planning/manpower and why waste resources if it does not bring automatic cash like say a "new" lockbox. People want latest "shinies" and PWE makes a ton of money on it. They know their customers very well.

PvE queues are not really a real money maker for PWE so why bother. It is customer satisfaction that should be a priority but it is not. After all, the F2P model is very strong here but at the cost of exorbitant number of bugs and customer unhappiness. PWE don't care if you are satisfied with the state of the game...they want metrics to show they are doing well and fast CASH. It is the balancing act of having a good F2P model.

Unlike EVE or SWTOR that might show a more robust product but then again their F2P models are not really NOT friendlier (if non-existent).

In a nutshell and IMO you get what you paid for and don't blame PWE for just having a different business plan.

If you are worried about empty queues...adjust and evolve into it since I wouldn't hold my breath for a quick fix. Most older players have done that. For instance, weekends/weeknights are better times to do PvEs since most people are on during those times. At other times missions/patrols might be better. Also, working with fellow fleeters might be a better way to circumvent the lonely queues.

    Good luck!

Problem is as I see it is. .

People are not using pves as they are just not worth the time and this is so sad due to them being a big part of end game content.

However the bz areas are not fun at all for someone like me who just wants to jump in get a good load of marks then jump out so to speak as bz areas don't reward enough marks for time invested.

But like someone said swings and round abouts you can't have your cake and eat it so we're left with playing what brings the rewards you need.

    Bz for Dill
    Pve for marks

That's low I see it anyway lol.
