Why are we punished for using Cannons???? I have everything reccommended to be uber DPS, Epic Fleet CritD DMGx3 weapons, Epic RCS (EPS) with 2 EPS consoles, Plasmonic leech, the embassy plasma consoles, the embassy Romulan Boffs (Both of them) and of course the Fleet Vulnerability locators. I have the Iconian Shields and Engines (working in deflector), both omnibeams at epic and I cant reach 20k DPS. I dont understand it, I have everything that has been listed as the uber Build and yet im still beaten by beam boats. So frustrated.

Terribad piloting skills?
Show us your build in http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/
Prior to viewing the build, you have to remember that at distances larger than 5Km cannons have a significant drop in damage.
That may be a major contributor. Also, if you're going to be up close and personal with your intended victims then you may consider this trait: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Trait:_Point_Blank_Shot
For everything else we need to see your actual build with gear, boffs, traits and doffs.
Everything including skill point distribution.

I knew using Kinetics would be playing the game on hard mode, but what I didn't realize was how bad the deck is stacked against Kinetics.
Anything over 2k you're eating range penalties with cannons. You want to be basically trading paint to not lose damage with cannons.
It's not pretty back you can "jackhammer", get to 2k, drop to slow, when you trade paint throw it in reverse until you hit 2k, then repeat, just keep your evasive maneuvers handy for avoiding the warp core breach.
That was before all the junk like aux2bat with technicians, DEM doff, plasmonic leech, plasma explosions, starship traits, etc, etc, etc. I remember those good times as well. Then someone who shall remain nameless (and I don't think I've seen in the forums for a while) started spreading the aux2bat+DEM FAW gospel.
DO NOT AND WILL NOT PLAY FED SIDE.

Those were good times. You certainly saw more build variety in that era, anyway. Science ships, carrier spam, beamboats, B'rel torpboats, people who actually played tank/healer roles... back when PvP was still a thing.
Now what about your boff set ups? What doffs do you use? Do you have your cannon attacks in sync with you attack patterns? What about EptW? Starship traits? We have some cool stuff around with AHOD, EWC & Greedy Emitters.
Just saying cuz I have a hard time myself to pass 50k on a cannon build escort, and like pointed out piloting and team interaction is most important despite a good build. On cannons probably twice as much as on beams.

Yeah I find it funny. I used to get laughed at all the time for using a beam cruiser.
I wouldn't exactly call them "those good times" beam boats were garbage back then and it was just escorts flying around as kings of everything while everyone else sucked. Unfortunately, the devs overcompensated for this and now we have cruisers flying around fawloling everything.
There was a lot of build variety? No...not really. There was just cannon tac escorts and cannon sci spammers. Anything with beams could be ignored since their pressure damage was just way too low.
There was when I played. Sure, escorts were popular, but there was plenty of variety nevertheless.
Yes, I agree with this as well. I'm not defending the current state of the game, just pointing out that the escorts online days weren't exactly peaches and cream like some seem to think they were.
So what your saying is you want escorts online back so that cruisers can go back to sucking?
Now with gimmicky consoles, traits and other crappy clickables, Cryptic managed to achieve "balance" in the sense that all you need is to bind everything on spacebar and use thumb to press it and another finger to change direction. And for that it really doesn't matter what ship you are flying.
That's just as true of cannon ships as well... except that you need to point the nose of your ship at the target rather then the side of it. It's not like people using cannons aren't keybinding everything up as well. Are cannon ships harder to fly? Sure they are. You can just fly around in circles around something until it dies. You need to constantly adjust speed and maneuver your ship into optimal firing position, but that doesn't mean you can't bind half your skills to your space bar.
Nice sentiment except that at the height of "Escorts Online" escorts were no longer "glass cannons". Many escorts had very favorable boff layouts with access to a lot of engineering and/or sci powers without a sacrifice to offensive tac skills which made them very tanky. At the same time they also were much quicker then cruisers and could also speed tank. They were in fact, when built correctly, better tanks then cruisers. Escorts won at everything and cruisers were garbage scows. As for science that's been a constant nerf fest. The only time cryptic buffs sci abilities is when they want their npc's to be scary again.
