T6 free rep grind engineering ship should come with season 11

Season 7 gave us the free T5U dyson science ship, season 9 the free T6 kobali tactical ship, so we can anticipate a free engineering T6 ship. That will help in the admiralty system as they are not very good for space combat, even at ship triat level 5 and XIV ultra rare space and weapons level.

I wont say no to another earnable ship, especially a t6.

I use a Dyson warbird and it works fine though. Sure, not 100% optimal but it's FUN which is what matters to me.

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

The Dyson ship was the anniversary ship not a season ship. I would figure that the Admiralty marks an end to free ships now they can give us 'ship cards' instead so would not hold out hope for many flyable freebies in the future.

Still waiting to be able to use forum titles

Expect this to be immediately contradicted with the Winter event. :P

Te kobali cruiser is an engineering ship, next anniversary ship will most likely be a tactical escort, next free ship will arrive this winter, with luck it'll be the Rezreth dreadnought.

Not necessarily. The 2014 winter ship was a breen sci/tac carrier which was followed by a sci/tac ferengi cruiser. You can probably say that cryptic won't release an identical class of ship from one event to the next but the "now it's time for _______" rule doesn't really hold because there's a lot of different factors affecting the "which ship is next" optimization.

For example: if cryptic plans on revamping the Oddy/Bort/Scim any time soon an Anniversary release (similar to the command cruisers) would be a fitting time (which trumps any pattern that says an escort should be next.) And with the upcoming winter event, while we haven't had that escort in a while but there's already a Breen raider. That's probably going to force a difference choice too (classic Breen dreadnought) .

It's basically chaotic. There may have been rules of thumb at first but now all the constraints mean that what we get is the product of whim and circumstance.

Correct, it was the anniversary ship, and so was the Kobali cruiser. However, I don't think this is the end for reputation (grind) ships. Depending on whats on the cards for Q's winter wonderland reward this year, the anniversary in February(?) might be tactical, but its also the franchises 50th anniversary as well, and I don't know what they're planning for that, if the game's anniversary will tie into the franchise's, any giveaways (unreleased iconic ships), events, etc.

Well given that a T6 connie is still out of the question I think the only fitting thing would really be that Ent-F/Bort/Scim refit.

Agreed, many people want T6 flagships, but for the Feds, I personally would like to see a T6 Light Cruiser (Not necessarily a Miranda) as both the KDF and RR have T5 versions of their starter ships and rumors of a T6 Defiant/B'rel/T'varo pack means T6 versions of starters. Don't know what the KDF or RR would get as an alterative though.

I would actually not mind seeing them do the Ocanati ships whether it be a escort-like one or a cruiser version. THough what if they did a event ship rep grind in which you get marks/tokens from doing missions for the Coopertive borg group, which could be doing things like finishing the Borg disconnect stf or other such borg based stfs, and then then you gain a choicce of one of three ships in the borg coopertive style. I mean i love the flagship of the coopertive borg use an think a scaled down version would be very interesting as a cruiser like ship with a borg-like style to it.

I think a slimmed-down T6 sovereign class would fit the bill there pretty nicely for a lighter FED cruiser. However I think the the Miranda configuration (virtually no secondary hull) really works well in STO as an Escort. You can get close to perfect with a few Patrol Escort pieces, (no center plyon, dervish saucer, gryphon nacelles, and tempest hull + rear struts) but that could be improved with a T6 patrol escort which takes that one step further (by starting to reference designs which, over time, will evolve into the ENT-J class of starship.)

All in all I'd pretty much be happy with anything here but an aggressive Miranda successor (T6 patrol escort) and more iconic light cruiser (T6 Sovereign) would be my ideal.

I agree with the idea of the patrol escort being a nice idea and would go for it, though a cruiser varient of the advanced research Nebula class or a Deep space science vessal would be amazing options as well. Most of all since the tempest had a commander tact, Lt. commander engineer an universal, along with a Lt. science seat giving it quite a versitile build-template to start from. What would you do to such a ship to make it worthy of a T-6 upgrade?; upgrade the science seat to Lt com making it have four Lt.com seats minimum, but keeping it at a four seat bridge format? Or go more upgrading one of the Lt.com seats to full commander level making this one fo the few/only dual commander seat using starships? Either of these would i think work if it kept a four seat layout as the trade off is about right for that switch, and also keeps it unique an different from other starships.

I should have counted my consoles. then a free tactical season 11. NOT THE FIRST DAY and maybe not for the anniversary , but a free iconian or new species ship nontheless.

Am I to understand we should all get a free ship just because it is a new season?

Of what i keep hearing the Iconian/Herald ships if we get access to them might be in a Iconian lockbox slated for release before season 11. But i could see them dooing another new race ship give away like they did with the Kobali cruiser. We have the Turei, the Ocanati, That Iconian ship "The Obex" that was used prior to the Herald coming in an hinting at the Iconian prior to the release of Delta quad that was replaced with Quas cruisers afterwards.

It seems that they are unwilling to make a Winter/Summer ship a 100% pure T6 science ship with 5 science consoles. Science captains are forever damned.

Hey, they say they can't sell science ships (even if the Vesta was a success). Why just not give one away? They loose nothing.
  • asuran14asuran14 Member Posts: 2,335 Arc User
Well then they should look or ask why the player-base don't like, or don't want to use them. Than look into how they can change that an make them more desirable, than just admit defeat. I agree though if they are going to have an entire career that the ship is kinda geared towards, than atleast they should give it as rewards in game to not pigeon-hole those players that like the science starships.

Well, no but they don't gain as much compared to a more generic ship type. These are grinding targets after all. If you include one that only a subset of captains could have a serious interest in (ex. a pure science ship) you're not making the best use of the opportunity.

With the rumors of it being the nice large Rezreth Dreadnought with an integrated lance weapon, I wonder if it might come out to be a slightly down-spec'ed Annorax Dreadnought in stats. Lots of people would grind for that, even those not usually interested in Science ships.

Also, it'd be handy to have a high-Sci card for a lot of players for the new Admiralty system.

That or a T6 galaxy-X light (similar to the relationship between the Kobali and Command cruisers.)
