Season 7 gave us the free T5U dyson science ship, season 9 the free T6 kobali tactical ship, so we can anticipate a free engineering T6 ship. That will help in the admiralty system as they are not very good for space combat, even at ship triat level 5 and XIV ultra rare space and weapons level.

I use a Dyson warbird and it works fine though. Sure, not 100% optimal but it's FUN which is what matters to me.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
Still waiting to be able to use forum titles
Expect this to be immediately contradicted with the Winter event. :P

Not necessarily. The 2014 winter ship was a breen sci/tac carrier which was followed by a sci/tac ferengi cruiser. You can probably say that cryptic won't release an identical class of ship from one event to the next but the "now it's time for _______" rule doesn't really hold because there's a lot of different factors affecting the "which ship is next" optimization.
For example: if cryptic plans on revamping the Oddy/Bort/Scim any time soon an Anniversary release (similar to the command cruisers) would be a fitting time (which trumps any pattern that says an escort should be next.) And with the upcoming winter event, while we haven't had that escort in a while but there's already a Breen raider. That's probably going to force a difference choice too (classic Breen dreadnought) .
It's basically chaotic. There may have been rules of thumb at first but now all the constraints mean that what we get is the product of whim and circumstance.

Probably it will be T6 Chel Grett Cruiser.
Correct, it was the anniversary ship, and so was the Kobali cruiser. However, I don't think this is the end for reputation (grind) ships. Depending on whats on the cards for Q's winter wonderland reward this year, the anniversary in February(?) might be tactical, but its also the franchises 50th anniversary as well, and I don't know what they're planning for that, if the game's anniversary will tie into the franchise's, any giveaways (unreleased iconic ships), events, etc.

Agreed, many people want T6 flagships, but for the Feds, I personally would like to see a T6 Light Cruiser (Not necessarily a Miranda) as both the KDF and RR have T5 versions of their starter ships and rumors of a T6 Defiant/B'rel/T'varo pack means T6 versions of starters. Don't know what the KDF or RR would get as an alterative though.
I think a slimmed-down T6 sovereign class would fit the bill there pretty nicely for a lighter FED cruiser. However I think the the Miranda configuration (virtually no secondary hull) really works well in STO as an Escort. You can get close to perfect with a few Patrol Escort pieces, (no center plyon, dervish saucer, gryphon nacelles, and tempest hull + rear struts) but that could be improved with a T6 patrol escort which takes that one step further (by starting to reference designs which, over time, will evolve into the ENT-J class of starship.)
All in all I'd pretty much be happy with anything here but an aggressive Miranda successor (T6 patrol escort) and more iconic light cruiser (T6 Sovereign) would be my ideal.

Hey, they say they can't sell science ships (even if the Vesta was a success). Why just not give one away? They loose nothing.
Yes. BUSH DID IT!

Well, no but they don't gain as much compared to a more generic ship type. These are grinding targets after all. If you include one that only a subset of captains could have a serious interest in (ex. a pure science ship) you're not making the best use of the opportunity.

With the rumors of it being the nice large Rezreth Dreadnought with an integrated lance weapon, I wonder if it might come out to be a slightly down-spec'ed Annorax Dreadnought in stats. Lots of people would grind for that, even those not usually interested in Science ships.
Also, it'd be handy to have a high-Sci card for a lot of players for the new Admiralty system.
That or a T6 galaxy-X light (similar to the relationship between the Kobali and Command cruisers.)
