I have to admit I don't play them as often as I should as well. My suggestion - take the time to review the entries here or on the lootcritter blog post, and give one a try. For starters - try 'Trouble in Paradise' by NCC89471 - it comes highly recommended by @ZEF_STO.

Q2: I don't have a favorite author nor mission. I had stopped playing STO for a while do to twin boys being born and recently started playing more frequently because they are old enough play on their own to not get into too much trouble unless they are too quiet. @Primus01 in game.
