Utopia Planitia Report 1

edited September 2015 in Galactic News Network [PC]
A growl of frustration echoed through the translucent walls of the design project room. Lieutenant Whetu’s PADD clattered off the table as she flung it with annoyance.

Check out the first Utopia Planitia report as we highlight the origins of the Hestia!

    This was a Morrigan mistake.

I kinda dig the whole "in universe" explanation of how the new console works, and why we don't hurt each other with friendly fire from AoE attacks like that.

These story blogs need to be placed in-game if they are going to be substituting or complementing new content/episodes. Trendy, can you at least convey that to the Devs or the people higher up about that. Thankies.

Keep doing these little episode type things going forward, please. I really liked this one, but tech nerd - also, I'm amused Starfleet's best solution to the problem is 'make it run worse, but give it an outlet so it explodes when we want it to'. :)

After a moment, Elyos cleared his throat softly and said, “Lieutenant, won’t the plasma ejecta will be extremely volatile?

Umm... what? I think whomever it was that was writing this forgot to eat their smarties that day.

Apparently Lt Whetu changed her hair style from the time the picture was "taken" to the time the article was written...

    "...her loose black hair's..."

and the picture has her with blonde hair.

Just giving you guys TRIBBLE! LOL I do like the stories you release!

If they ever wanted to fix their plasma issue, they could look into borrowing from their Romulan allies. I'm sure D'Tan would be accomodating.

I agree, keep these stories going. Also, in modern automotive technology this is similar to how diesel emissions are handled. Make it dirtier so it can then be cleaner. Of course the best solution for the ship would have been to totally redesign the EPS system from scratch but deadlines often push a lesser product to market.

Old Earth wet-navy ships used to use steam power for propulsion. And if the steam power got overpressured, they would vent the excess steam. As the engineering improved they developed systems that would expel the steam automatically.

Like too much air in a balloon! ... then something bad happens!

At least we had someone calling out Humans' bizarre insistence on making everything a pre-spaceflight analogy.

Agreed. I really like these little stories, but they should ideally be conveyed in game as well.

There were some special pictures made by our character art team, I'm getting them set up so that they can be attached to the blog. (Apparently there was some trouble with the pictures getting transferred due to a file problem.)

Good chapter - and it's good to see these little pieces of added lore continue beyond the Iconian War.

Lt. Whetu is creative, I'll give her that

Sooo basically the Hestia's "plasma expulsors" ability is just one big workaround to fix an issue? Suddenly, the usual "It's not a bug! It's a FEATURE!" line comes to mind. ^^

    *gasp*

Uuuuh... guys? Can we do a check on who's working on the carrier project???

Whoooa wait... gotta look into something fast!
*runs off to check who designed the Arbiter*

A lot of people do. In fact, I think some of our files even have that typo.

I think it's because people see Planitia, and think "Planet."
