Crystalline entity deals antiproton damage (a lot of damage), if you experience a sudden drop of shields it's more likely the entity than the tholians.

I'll give you the recipe for easy CEA runs. All ships go in with gravity well and aftershock+engine fail doffs. If one guy is specced heavy on the grav gens and part gens better. Specced guy throws a GW3 that usually aftershocks and TS3 the grav torpedoes, you have everything int he map in one spot, just fire away. Ever since I've been using my grav gens build for PvE, it has been super easy.

I wish all people could go in with this, but they don't and can't. More often than not, my sci is the only one throwing out GW and basically taking all the heat for doing it. Alot of my other Alt's ships just dont have the spots for GW. Possibly a drawback of everyone going tac with tac heavy ships.

you dont get what i mean, normally for STF i averaage about 16-18k sheilds, for base sheilds (to start inother words) and for the CE:A my base sheilds are 4k do you see what i mean :-)

Just to make sure I understand correctly:

You start any odd queue, you get 18k shields from the start.

But in Crystalline you get 4k shields before even the first contact, so 4k is all the shields you got.

    Is that correct?

I've noticed the same with hull.My tank build has 98k hull, but in CE, it is only around 70k.
Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.

Maybe it caps the players at level 50? I remember getting the heck confused out of me when I bought some tactical spire consoles and then entering the dyson space or fleet alert and finding the values lower than advertised in the store UNTIL I realized it's because the mission or zone I am in caps me at level 50 instead of 60 which affects gear values and other ship stats.

I wonder if this or a related bug might explain the random difficulty spikes I sometimes get in that queue. Things are usually fine at the start, but oftentimes after a lag spike, I suddenly have my shields being ripped off by the Tholians (even while out of range of the entity) and my damage dealt to them seems far lower.

Yesterday I had a very sudden and rapid death with only about 50k damage in the Damage History, when even in the Dyson Sphere I have 80k hull and 12k shields.

    That might indeed be it.

I believe Normal and Advanced Queues set everyone's level to 50, Elite sets it to 60. Same is true for some zones. It's probably the same system as the "squad"/"sidekick" system when played teamed. Red Alerts and Deep Space Enemy Contacts also level you down (many Beta Quadrant ones appear to be Captain level) or up (if you're not sufficient level yet.)
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.

All STF's have a level that it will scale you to, regardless of your level. CCA is level 50, so your Shields, Hull, Weapons etc will be scaled back if you are higher than 50.

If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

Same here...sometimes I will get torn up because they all agro on me...and hit with a storm of their spreads and caught in a tractor beam while flying a Escort with my APO on cool down...and go boom...or well more often than not I'm caught in a TB and don't notice it in time or APO is on CD and boom...hit with shards.

Lately I've been going in with my Engineer in my Nandi rigged with all Turrents. I've no idea if I'm doing a great job or not, but I seem to be avoiding ship death more often than with any of my other builds.

btw scarling - Love that Avatar. :) I even mentioned it to my wife, moments ago, and she got a laugh from it, too.
