Mission completion skill-points not applied towards mastery

neoatticusneoatticus Member Posts: 72 Arc User
None of the skillpoints I've earned from mission completions are being added to my mastery skillpoints totals. This is increasing the amount of time required to gain mastery of individual ships by an inexorable amount. Please fix this so that mission completions count toward mastery totals again, as the amount of time required for each ship is far too long now.

I believe this is working as intended. You gain ship mastery points for using the ship, whereas mission XP may have nothing to do with the ship. The best places to quickly level ship mastery are in Red Alerts (which have double XP for kills) and space patrols. A handful of Red Alerts should top off mastery in any ship.

The thing is, it doesn't. At best, with any Red Alert, I can gain 3,000 skillpoints. Idk why, but I'm not acquiring skillpoints like before. It makes more sense to allow for mission skillpoints to also count towards mastery. What about characters at level 60? Skillpoints, at that point, only count towards specializiation. Is there ANY point in doing missions then? Any at all? Other than getting your specializations in, there's no incentive to continue the campaign storyline at level 60.

Working as intended, You only get XP for ship mastery from killing ship NPCs.

So support has recently told me. Its a real shame, considering we already have a strong grind for the reputation system, now we have to grind for our starship mastery too.

Grind ? You can earn your T5 mastery at an amazingly fast speed if you focus your play on missions involving lots of starships, such as Red Alerts. There's almost no grind to do.

Yup, I mastered most of my ships doing Argala runs or Romulan patrols. Easy peasy.

I might have been having issues gaining skillpoints towards mastery during space mission. It was taking forever just to get t1 mastery on my science command battlecruiser. Came back after 2 weeks and they must have fixed whatever issue that was because I jumped from t1 to t5 in the space of about 3 hours.

I was slightly irritated that all of your skillpoint gain didn't also go towards mastery, as that would have made mastering any ship a lot faster. I could swear at some point that was what was going on, but it must have been a bug, as it had since been corrected. When we first got t6 ships, I was able to go from t0 to t5 in the space of about 3 hours, with missions generally giving between 10k-15k skillpoints. At the time, that meant that I could expect to clear a tier per mission, whereas now I have to do Red Alerts to do so, with my skillpoint gain usually only being around 4k-5k per red alert.

Faster? 1 Borg Red Alert, 1 Tholian Red Alert, 1 Argala Elite, 1 Japori Elite and U should be Mastery 5 or very Close. :) Not even 1 Hour playtime.
nice u wasted so much time in your sig - i do not see it anyway :)

I have no idea what you mean by Argala or Japori. I get the feeling they aren't stfs (after trying to look them up). I'm guessing its a patrol, run at elite? Are the sp gains that much higher on elite diff?

Yes, Argala is a Delta Patrol, Japori is Patrol in Beta Quadrant - And do them on Elite gets much more xp.

Even doing them on normal, it takes less than an hour to master a ship.

Three months ago, this was true. Now, not so much. I don't see more than 3k xp for any normal stf, red alerts tend to give only 3k-6k sp (due to how quickly they get completed, power creep of other players, etc.), and unless you get super lucky and several alerts pop one after another in different locations (thus preventing you from being locked out of said red alerts) you're not going to master all 5 tiers of a ship in under an hour. At least, not in my experience. I'll attempt the patrols on elite (bringing tons of components, because I get the feeling I'll die a lot), and see where that gets me.

Total skillpoint gain from Japori at Elite Difficulty gave me 5,612 skillpoints total. 4,093 of that was simply for completing the daily patrol.
