Today's patch broke the game

Topic. I patched the game and it stopped working, hanging on the Iconian War "Loading..." screen. I've had this after several patches recently, and the problem is due to you guys not programming the settings properly to run correctly on Windows. The older platform plus newer technology means you need to adapt and start working on a platform upgrade. I have a high end gaming rig, and I can't even get the game to LOAD. Previously, I could get the game to work by lowering the settings right after a patch, but this again is a problem on your end because I shouldn't have to do that in the first place.

Second, my wife also tried to patch, and got an error stating "A file was locked that could not be open for writing: Error 36", so she can't even get the game patched!

Cryptic, seriously, these buggy as hell patches are getting real old. Why don't you take about a six month break from new content and work on upgrading the platform and fixing all the existing bugs? Neither of us can play, and this is our fave game! It's frustrating! We both run Windows 10, so you might wanna look into compatibility issues with how you write patches.

    The problem here is most likely related to the fact that you are running Windows 10. That is so new, that it is bound to be causing all sorts of havoc, and not just with STO. I mean breaking everything, including the OS itself. And it is for that very reason that you should have waited until at least the new year to upgrade to Windows 10, if not wait until the very last available month.

    Windows 10 is free until next July 29. So the best thing you can do is go back to Windows 7, and stay there until next July. With any hope, Windows10 will be stable by then.

    Well, all I can say is I'm having the same problems reported in the 1st post. Only thing is I'm using a 2-year old laptop with Windows 7.

    This is a repetitive problem with updates. I saw this same issue when I did the tribble update for the same build. It took a few tries on both tribble and holodeck to finally connect to server. I don't know why some updates have problems and others do not have this problem, but it is a part of our STO experience.
