I've been playing for ages, and I'm very happy with Star Trek Online - but this latest promotion is a little unfair.
Why send it out only to those who haven't played in a while? You should be rewarding the players who stick around!
I'm a little sad that even though I'm a loyal player, I'm not being given the ship. It's a little insulting, actually.
Is there any plan to send out a code to the players who have been around for ages?

So, he has been at least somewhat active and still got a code.
The promotion is not unfair, and nor is it nonsense as claimed in previous threads.
With any business, or subscription-based product, the only people that you make money off, are those playing your game. If you have people in-game frequently, they are going to make purchases and avail of the services, even if infrequently.
Now, the people that you are definitely not going to make money from, are lapsed players that have left the game and not logged in in years.
So, this appeal to lapsed players, to come back and try the game since the huge changes in the last couple of years, makes a lot sense. And how would you get someone back to the game?! Well, simple. A tangible product. Like a ship, or 3,000 Zen. The offer/promotion is not “unfair” or “stupid” or “nonsense” as some players claim, but a legitimate marketing strategy that most every subscription based company uses to entice lapsed customers to use their service again.
As for "not rewarding" existing players... well, we get bonus weekends, Crysatlline Catastrophe, and other things like special gear that lapse players will never get.
